Let's be clear: Zanu PF is incapable of "strategic thinking", it's political longevity is thanks to CCC incompetence. W Mukori

What does today's High Court judgement mean to Zimbabwean politics if it is not reversed?” asked Hopewell Chin’ono.

“Today’s High Court judgement against the recalled CCC Members of Parliament stopping them from using the party-political name “CCC” was predictable for those with a discerning political eye, and for those who fully understand the treacherous Zimbabwean political terrain and how ZANUPF has mastered it against its political opponents using a scary array of tools like State capture, repression, corruption, violence and even murder to retain power.

“ZANUPF understands two things too well, Power and how to use it corruptly against its opponents and against the ordinary citizens.”

Chin’ono was spot on there and should have stopped right there. Alas! He got carried away.

“It sits down and strategises, and it executes using captured institutions that it ruthlessly controls through patronage or coercion,” he continued.

“Unlike the opposition CCC, people in ZANUPF work across factions for the survival of their corrupt project and ZANUPF because they understand that politics is business and not necessarily personal, ZANUPF uses its best brains to execute its corrupt agenda.

“Political decision making is not about emotions but strategy, politics requires strategic thinking and decision-making grounded in practical political considerations rather than emotional impulses and reactions.”

What is he talking about? Zimbabwe is a text book case failed state precisely because Zanu PF, who have been in power for all the 43 years since the country’s independence in 1980, are corrupt, incompetent and murderous thugs. The country’s economy is into ruins because of their blundering incompetence.

Zimbabwe used to grow enough food for the nation’s needs with surplus to be the bread basket of the region. The country earned a mint from export of beef, tobacco and other agricultural produce. Some one once said you can plant a broomstick and harvest fruit in Zimbabwe. That was all before Mugabe and his Zanu PF launched their so-called land redistribution; giving land to the country’s landless peasant, on paper, in reality the ruling elite got most of the land seized from the white farmers.

The black farm owners did not know what to do with the land and the country’s agriculture production collapsed, and with it the economy. “Munda hauzvirimi!” (Getting the land is one thing putting it to productive use is another!) as my late mother  would say.

Ever since the turn of this century when the Zanu PF farm seizures, accompanied by some politically motivate gratuitous violence against the white farmers and their black workers, kicked off in earnest; Zimbabwe has relied on food aid every three or so years.

We are starving in the country that, for all practical purposes is the Biblical Garden of Eden - a damning testimonial to Zanu PF leaders’ breath-taking incompetence. It is nonsensical to pretend such buffoons are capable of such a refined human quality as “strategic thinking”!

On the political front, Zimbabwe would not be failed state in political paralysis because Mnangagwa just like Mugabe before him elected to surround himself with deadwood in the name of political patronage, the mother and father of the gross mismanagement and rampant corruption. Zanu PF has only managed to stay in power all these last four decades because the party rigged elections.

“It (strategic thinking) involves navigating around complex political scenarios, anticipating contrived political and legal consequences, and formulating plans to achieve specific political goals, and in this case, legal outcomes too,” continued Chin’onoi is his praise of Zanu PF.

“Embracing a strategic political mindset helps political parties respond effectively to political challenges thrown at them by their crooked and corrupt political opponents, and it also helps political parties to pursue their objectives in a well calculated manner.”

There is nothing clever about riding roughshod of your own people denying them their freedoms and rights including the right to a meaningful vote. There reason why Zanu PF emerged out of the GNU with all its dictatorial powers untouched is not because Mugabe “embraced a strategic political mindset, etc., etc.” He was just lucky to have very corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent political opponents in the form of Tsvangirai and company.

The 2008 to 2013 GNU was a golden opportunity for Zimbabwe to implement the democratic reforms and end the Zanu PF dictatorship once and once for all. The fact that Tsvangirai and company failed to implement even one token reform in five years speaks volumes of the MDC/CCC leaders’ greed and incompetence. And it is the same breathtaking incompetence which is at the heart of the recall of CCC MPs.

The people of Zimbabwe have risked livelihood, life and limb to elect MDC/CCC leaders into power for the express purpose they would implement the necessary democratic reforms to end the Zanu PF vote rigging. After 23 years, including 5 in the GNU, MDC/CCC have not only failed to implement even one reform and given up on reforms. Worst of all, they have been participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed.

CCC leaders never ever implement the reforms and deliver free and fair elections. The people of Zimbabwe must wake up to this political reality.

“The most logical route for CCC to take was for its recalled MPs to run as Independent candidates because as I said in the attached tweet, what matters most are the principles you carry in your political heart, and not a political party name when you are in the middle of a mortal fight for your own survival against an oppressive and crude opponent who controls the State and wants to destroy you,” Chin’ono advised.

“After Sengezo Tshabangu illegally but successfully recalled the CCC MPs, I mentioned that CCC as a political party was finished.”

CCC participated in the flawed 23 August 2023 harmonised elections, so flawed and illegal that AU, SADC and even Zimbabwe’s own ZHRC condemned the process, knowing fully well that doing so would give SADC the excuse to grant Zanu PF legitimacy. Whether recalled CCC MPs participated in the equally flawed by elections as independent or even boycotted is irrelevant because the damage is done.

“Yes CCC is yours, yes the MPs are also yours and yes Tshabangu is playing a game, but don't you have a logical obligation to protect the people's right to democratic representation in councils and parliament at any cost including for you to run as Independents so that you block ZANUPF parliament capture?” Chin’ono continued.

Zanu PF has just blatantly rigged the 23 August 2023 elections as all the election observers have pointed out. So what “democratic representation in council and parliament is there to protect?

“I have told you twice, I will tell you again for the third time, many in the diplomatic community and many important regional political actors are now asking if CCC is not actually a front for ZANU PF to calm citizens down. They ask this pertinent question because of CCC's many school-boy mistakes that it continues to make since its formation last year. Astounding, ridiculous and shocking mistakes one must add if you are going to be genuine and logical in your analytical discourse about the situation!” concluded Chin’ono.

“One of the senior team members of a Western election observer mission team said this to me;

“I have covered more than 60 elections across the world, I have never seen a presidential candidate who has done everything possible in the book to lose an election like Nelson Chamisa has done."

“The election observer continued:

"We went to see Nelson for a meeting, and yet he was alone, it has been the same with other observer missions," the election observer said to me in astonishment.

“If CCC is not a front for ZANUPF, then its leader is thoroughly incompetent for having made all these avoidable but now talked about mistakes and for making traditional allies of the democracy movement in Zimbabwe doubt CCC’s and his own political sincerity through his commissions and omissions.”

If the truth be told (and it must) MDC leaders proved beyond all reasonable doubt that they are corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent during the GNU by failing to implement even one reform in five years. One can only hope that the penny has finally dropped - a prerequisite for political change!

As long as Zimbabweans continue to believe CCC leaders will bring about change they will continue to support Chamisa and company blindly and they have done these last 23 years. For a healthy and functioning democracy, the citizens must be educated, knowledgeable and diligent; Zimbabweans are still naive, ignorant and gullible!

Most Zimbabweans should know what reforms are about and have an idea how they are implemented; it is not rocket science. People must learn to think for themselves and stop following leaders blindly like sheep to the slaughter.

“He had written to the parliamentary Speaker in October alleging some CCC MPs had "ceased to be members of the party".
The CCC leader, Nelson Chamisa, immediately labelled Mr Tshabangu a fake and told the Speaker to ignore the letter.
But it was Mr Chamisa who was ignored as the Speaker duly declared vacancies in the constituencies.
The MPs caught up in the fray went to court to challenge the move, but President Mnangagwa went ahead and announced by-elections in the affected constituencies before their hearings.
This was proof, according to the CCC, that he was confident the judges would go his way - which they did. The courts threw out the challenge and a subsequent appeal on legal technicalities.
An emboldened Mr Tshabangu then began to claim more scalps - dismissing, or recalling, more CCC MPs and local councillors too.
So who is this man behind what seems like political hara-kiri for the opposition - an inside saboteur or a Zanu-PF proxy, as alleged by the CCC?”

MDC leaders proved themselves to be corrupt and incompetent beyond the singing of it during the 2008 to 2013 GNU when they fled to implement even one token reform in five years. The party should have lost all its supporters. The wildebeest herd remained as faithful to the party leaders as ever because the herd did not know what the reforms are much less the consequences of failing to implement even one reform.
The MDC/CCC leaders have blundered from pillar to post, the party has played a major role in giving Zanu PF legitimacy and thus perpetuating the dictatorship and dragging the nation deeper and deeper into the abyss. One can only hope this latest “hara-kiri,” as BBChas called it; will finally force the herd to open its eyes and finally see CCC leaders for what they are - corrupt, incompetent and utterly useless.

You clearly have no clue what I am talking about but pretend that you do as usual. Those who fail to learn from the past are destined to repeat the same foolish mistakes over and over again. Zimbabwe has had rigged elections for 43 years and counting, you participated in the August 2023 elections out of stupidity; I am determined top see top it that even village idiots like you learn from the past and thus end this insanity of rigged elections.

    How naive!

So you admit that Chamisa knew the elections were flawed and illegal and all these claims of having plugged all the vote rigging loop holes, "God is in it!", etc were just bull. And you, did you participate in the flawed elections because you believed the bull only to be surprised with all the blatant vote rigging.

Has it ever occurred to you that SADC leaders granted Zanu PF political legitimacy regardless of the damning report from the regional body's own election observers out of despair, just as they did in 2013 and 2018. If Zimbabweans are hell bent on participating in flawed elections because they are foolish enough to believe Chamisa has plugged all the vote rigging loop holes, why should SADC deny village idiots like you the pleasure of doing just that!

So SADC has done you a big favour by granting Zanu PF legitimacy, the regime has a chance to rig 2028 elections and you have the chancer to plug the vote rigging holes! No doubt Chamisa will once again fail to plug the hole so the AU, SADC and all the election observers will find many flaws and illegalities to put in the reports - very considerate of him.

  4. In a defiant stance against the ruling party's conditions for dialogue, Nelson Chamisa, the leader of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), declared that he would not congratulate President Emmerson Mnangagwa for his victory in the August 2023 elections. This comes as the Zimbabwe African National Union - Patriotic Front (ZANU PF) insisted that any discussions with Chamisa hinge on a public acknowledgment of Mnangagwa's win and a cessation of allegations of electoral fraud.

CCC participated in these flawed and illegal election on the basis of idiotic claims such as “plugged all vote rigging loop holes”, “God is in it!”, etc., etc. The world is sick and tired of this childish behaviour of insisting of participating in flawed elections and then complain of vote rigging after the event - the very thing they disregarded.

  5. @ Mahere

“All observers, domestic and international, agreed that the election was a sham.

It’s hard to be a politician in a violent corrupt dictatorship that won’t hesitate to murder members, abduct key players, abuse state institutions to rig and use blatant fraud and an impostor to steal hard-won seats.”

True all election observers have dismissed the elections as a sham. It was you who insisted on participating in these sham elections because you had plugged all the vote rigging loop holes. It was none other than Advocate Mahere herself who told a UN conference just a few weeks before the August elections that all the Zanu PF vote rigging shenanigans were proof the regime was in a panic because it knew CCC was going to win big.

Lest people forget, MDC/CCC leaders had the golden opportunity to implement the democratic reforms designed to stop Zanu PF rigging elections during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. They failed to implement even one reform because they were cocksure they would win the elections with or without reforms!

The world is sick and tired of CCC participating in flawed elections out of greed and then making a big song and dance about Zanu PF rigging the elections as if they did not know!

One only hopes the mountain of evidence of CCC leaders greed and incompetence will finally force the as faithful as a dog CCC supporters to open their eyes and see these leaders for whom they are and that the nation is going nowhere under their continued leadership.

Nations get the leadership they deserve, we certainly deserve the Zanu PF thugs complete with the outrage of corrupt and useless opposition!

“OPPOSITION stalwart Welshman Ncube has broken his silence on laws of unintended consequences.
It is not clear whether Professor Ncube was commenting about the recent High Court loss by Nelson Chamisa's faction of the Citizens Coalition For Change by-election seconded candidates.

Writing on X (formerly Twitter), Professor Ncube said, "The laws of unintended consequences are harsh, cruel, and unforgiving!”

MDC/CCC leaders proved beyond all doubt that they are corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent when they failed to implement even one reform in five years of the GNU.

Professor Ncube may be poking a finger in the eye of his former GNU colleagues for the unintended consequences of his “strategic ambiguity” policy that had seen the professor and other CCC leaders like Tendai Biti sidelined. But if the truth be said he could have said the same for their failure to implement reforms during the GNU. This Chamisa blunder is just a carry-on from the GNU days!

It is the ordinary Zimbabweans who are at the coal face of this failed state who are paying dearly for MDC/CCC leaders’ blundering incompetence. The people should have learned of the folly in entrusting the nation’s destiny in the hands of these failed leaders after the GNU. They did not and so they only have themselves to blame for their suffering. “Kurumwa nechokuchera!” as one would say in Shona.

  8. Chamisa and company have proven that they are corrupt and incompetent when the failed to implement even one democratic reform in five years of the GNU. This is not just the run of the mill mistake where one is expected to learn from the mistake and not repeat the mistake, they did not implement even one token reform in five years because they are corrupt and incompetent beyond the pale. Not even the nagging by SADC leaders like SA's Minister Lindiwe Zulu was able to get Tsvangirai and company to move one inch and implement even one token reform.

Chamisa and his CCC friends are corrupt and incompetent and so true to their nature, they have blundered from pillar to post; anyone who expected anything else from them is naive, to say the least.

Just like their Zanu PF counterparts CCC leaders have ready made scapegoat in Zanu PF to blame for all their troubles and blunders. They have the excuse behind which to hide their corruption and incompetence and to resist change!

“So the problem is Zanu PF not Chamisa.”

This is worse than talking to a five year! You do not have the intellectual capacity to deal with more than one issue; where you should be dealing with five different issues you still stuck with the one issue.

Everyone accepts that Zanu PF are corrupt, incompetent and murderous tyrants and as long as the regime remains in power the nation will continue to sink into the abyss. The problem for the last 23 years has been narrowed to how do we stop Zanu PF rigging elections?

The nation has risked all to elect MDC/CCC leaders into power for the express purpose they would implement the democratic reforms reforms and stop Zanu PF rigging elections. After 23 years, including 5 in the GNU, MDC/CCC have failed to implement even one token reform.

Whilst Zanu PF continues to destroy the nation and therefore is the problem. The question that must be answered is why is Zanu PF still able to rig elections and stay in power? The answer is MDC/CCC leaders have sold out. If we still want to stop Zanu PF rigging elections and staying in power then we must find competent men and women who will implemented the reforms.

Of course, Chamisa is the problem in that he and his CCC friends sold out on reforms and the ones participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy. How many times must one explain this to you before it finally sink in!

Zimbabwe is a failed state because we have Zanu PF buffoons in power, because we have CCC buffoons helping Zanu PF stay in power and because we have brain-dead citizens keeping the buffoons on both sides of the political divide in power!

If we are going to “give credit” to MDC/CCC leaders to do as they please for remaining in the country we should given even more credit to Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF cronies risking their lives in the fight for independence. All those in public office MUST be democratically accountable to the people regardless whether the leader fought in the liberation war or not and they are accountable to all Zimbabweans regardless they are in the country or not.

It is nonsensical that 43 years after independence and in this day and age anyone should still think CCC leaders are untouchable especially after all the years of their blundering incompetence.

Let me say this; I salute all the Zimbabweans outside Zimbabwe who have continued to play an active roll in the country be it in the form of financial help or in the fight for good governance. They escaped the madness but have not forgotten the suffering of those on the coal face of it all.

Zimbabwe is a failed state and one of the reasons for it is that we are incapable of digesting anything and finalise it because we never grasp the details. In Zimbabwe the MDC/CCC leaders have participated in Zimbabwe's elections knowing fully well that the process was flawed and that participating would give Zanu PF legitimacy. They have proceeded heedlessly because they also knew that Zanu PF was giving away a few gravy train seats as bait - bait they found irresistible.

Chamisa has conned the naive and gullible Zimbabwe electorate into participating to give the election process the modicum of credibility by assuring the voters CCC will win big because he had plugged all the vote rigging loop holes, “God is in it!”, etc. All just oxymoronic lies to hide the real reason for participating was greed.

The masses themselves have participated in these flawed and illegal elections out of ignorance and stupidity. They have been warned of the sheer futility of doing so but, as we know, ignorance is a curse worse than death!

SADC did act in the 2008 flawed elections, denied Zanu PF legitimacy and force the regime to accept the GNU - a golden opportunity to implement the reforms and end the Zanu PF dictatorship. MDC leaders wasted the opportunity and SADC was loathed to step into this breach and see history repeat itself!

“How can CCC be blamed for reforms? Havana kana 4 months in parliament.

Zita kuCCC does not apply apa but varimo vari kuMDC maybe. Kuri ku court your case will be thrown out zvonzi captured😀😀😀😀”

MDC leaders failed to implement even one reform when they had all the trump cards it is therefore nonsensical to expect them to implement any reforms now. As I have said, post GNU MDC/CCC have participated in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy in return for the few gravy train seats on offer as bait.

You clearly did not understand what I said in that video or would not be arguing at cross purpose. I have seen worse! QED!

Educating the Zimbabwean masses is indeed the holy grail, nothing of substance will ever be accomplish as long as the majority of Zimbabweans out there remain ignorant and dum. So dum some people even believe a mere mortal like Chamisa is an infallible demigod; even with all the evidence he is a corrupt, incompetent and utterly useless leader!

“This is the 3rd party to fall victim to ZPF’s non democratic means. There’s nothing that wld have prevented the Tshabangu chapter. In a normal country and a normal organization, Tshabangu wldnt have succeeded. A SG cannot make the kind of unilateral decisions against the institution that they work for - that’s simple & straight forward organizational decision making.”

You started well but fall off the track only too soon!

You were right to say in a normal organisation (take it you mean a healthy and functional organisation with a democratic constitution and democratically elected office bearers) Tshabangu would not have succeeded in recalling the elected MPs, etc. CCC is NOT a normal organisation since it does not have a constitution, etc.?

“A SG cannot make unilateral decisions,” you rightly said. You could have said the same about the President of the party and not just SG. It is common knowledge that Chamisa, as President of CCC, has been making unilateral decisions ever since the launch of the party in January.

Indeed, one of the reasons why Tshabangu’s recalls has been supported by some people in the party is precisely because party supporters were assured by Chamisa that they would have a say in the selection of candidates to contest the elections only for Chamisa to unilaterally replace the popular with his own preferred candidate.

You started on the right track but soon fall off the right track because you respect facts and evidence only if if supports your preferred narrative and will reject the same evidence if it does not support it. You see nothing wrong with Chamisa making unilateral decisions, for example, but a quick to condemn it if some one else does the same thing!

No wonder you are always blundering from pillar to post; sound decisions must be make on the basis of the facts and the truth. You should go wherever the evidence lead you, deviate and you are lost!

CCC without a constitution and properly elected officials is NOT a normal organisation and Tshabangu was able to recall the party’s elected officials precisely because the party is not normal. It is sad that some people are defending the indefensible, this only highlights their own serious intellectual incapacity!

“Kkkkk u always say one thing but for some reason you seem to think only CCC has e mandate to force reforms. Where CCC is lacking please get into e ring or help others do it. There is too much space for everyone to fight for reforms.

Whilst u advocate for CCC to boycott elections, u don't tell us or suggest what should be done thereafter. U can't just tell others to boycott without telling them e gains of that move.”

For the record it is not only Wilbert Mukori who has advocated boycotting the elections, your own CCC leaders have done the same.

“Look, you can't keep on participating in flawed electoral processes that serve to give big benefits to dictators such as Robert Mugabe. Mugabe has perfected the art of winning elections. So it will be very foolish for the opposition to continue legitimizing these sham elections which don't deliver,” said Tendai Biti in a 2015 interview with Isaac Mugabi.

“So you can't continue subjecting Zimbabweans to processes where their hopes just get crushed.”

David Coltart went one step further and explained why the leaders themselves have been participating in flawed elections - greed.

“The (2013) electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility,” confessed David Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.

As for the ordinary Zimbabwean there really is nothing to be gained by participating in these flawed elections that all the election observers including the AU, SADC and even Zimbabwe’s own ZHRC condemned as a farce. SADC could have denied Zanu PF political legitimacy, as they did in 2008, but chose to do nothing. Presumably because the 2008 to 2013 GNU failed to get even one reform implemented and they fear another GNU would be a repeat.

SADC leaders have clearly given up on Zimbabwe, we don’t even have the common sense to see the sheer folly of participating in flawed elections only to give vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy whilst CCC, Zanu PF’s side-kick, get a few gravy train seats reward. SADC leaders have washed their hands of our own insatiable drive to suffer and self demolition.

“Don't let me stop your great self-destruction. Die if you want to you misguided martyr. I wash my hands of your demolition.” said Pontius Pilate in Jesus Christ Super Star.

Meanwhile you, Chisa, are waiting for me or some one to tell you the “gains” of stopping the insanity of self demolition! Well, I for one am speechless.

“Looks like your conversations are there to blame the opposition in particular CCC and exonerate zapu pf from destroying the country 🤷🏿‍♂️🤷🏿‍♂️ many expected Zimbabwe to take a different direction after the coup, ED played everyone a dummy, unfortunately we are heading for the worst, and you deliberately ignore it, what else can the opposition do under such dictatorship.”

So you cannot discuss CCC except in the context of Zanu PF! No one is asking you to compare CCC to Zanu PF but it seems you are incapable to doing anything else.

No wonder the country is a failed nation; we don’t have the common sense to realise both Zanu PF and CCC are corrupt and incompetent and therefore to always be comparing the two parties and thus limiting the nation’s choice to these two parties. Choosing between Zanu PF and CCC is no different to a mouse choosing between a cobra and a black mamba, both are deadly to the mouse just as these are to the nation. At least the mouse has the common sense to know that!

The penny has not dropped that CCC are corrupt and incompetent even after they have failed to implement even one token reform in 23 years and CCC participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed!

  30. How many times was Chamisa worried of the folly of failing to have a constitution and elected officials and he never listened. We should be careful we do not fall in the same 1980s trap of blaming everyone else for Zanu PF's failure expect Robert Mugabe because we did not have the guts to cold a spade a spade!

  31. I totally agree. The very suggestion that Tshabangu and King Lobengula are comparable is uncalled for.

“Hopewell offers solutions if u follow him closely. It’s usually constructive criticism.Uyo just blubbers on and on.”

Most of those who dismiss what anyone else says short of singing the praises of their leader often do so out of blind loyalty to the leader. It is no exaggeration that most of our people prefer to spend their time with their heads buried in the leader's back side and will never think for themselves.

No wonder the nation is a failed state, we have buffoons in power and legions of braindead individuals who consider the buffoons to be demigods and so are fighting to keep them in power.

One of us is certainly talking crap!

If MDC did implement the democratic reforms and stopped Zanu PF rigging the elections, then why did Mnangagwa rig the August elections?
