Zanu PF's will is to burn Zimbabwe than let anyone else rule. CCC's will is to do absolutely nothing, let nation burn! W Mukori

It is a historic fact that the MDC opposition sold out big time during the 2008 to 2013 GNU when the party failed to implement even one meaningful democratic reform designed to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections. Ever since the GNU debacle MDC leaders have participated in flawed elections knowing fully well that Zanu PF was rigging the process and their participation would only give the regime legitimacy and thus perpetuating the dictatorship.

Still they have soldiered on and participated out of greed - Zanu PF was offering a few gravy train seats as bait and they found the bait irresistible.

CCC’s failure to come up with party structure, a constitution and all the other basic requirement one would expect from a national party seeking to win public support has made CCC a totally  ineffective opposition party in these 2023 elections. In a recent interview with SABC, Professor Jonathan Moyo has dismiss CCC as an opaque party whose ethos of “strategic ambiguity” is the mother of chaos and confusion.

Still, CCC would win these 2023 elections hands down if the elections were free, fair and credible. The people are so desperate for change they would vote for a donkey if only to get rid of Mnangagwa!

Fortunately for Mnangagwa, he has carte blanche powers to rig these elections. Zanu PF is rigging these elections, this is obvious.

Nelson Chamisa and his MDC/CCC friends justified their participating in rigged elections claiming they have Winning In Rigged Elections Strategies (WIRES). Mass voter registration followed by mass voting has been their flagship strategy since the 2018 elections. The party set a target on registering six million voters for this 2023 elections.

As of 30 May 2022, ZEC reported that only 250 000 new voters had registered since 2018. Even if one assumed these were all CCC supporters, this would be 4% of their own 6 million target. Mass voter registration was dead in the water!

There is a sober and subdues atmosphere in Zimbabwe and among Zimbabweans wherever they are in the world. The euphoria that greeted the launch of CCC early this year has dissipated and fizzled out. The buzz that followed the launch was expected to grow and grow as the 2023 election campaign heated up.

So what happened? The people are finally waking up to the political reality that they are stuck with Zanu PF and CCC, for all their political posturing has all but resigned themselves to that.

Mnangagwa and his fellow Zanu PF cronies believe they have the divine right to rule Zimbabwe and the belief is so strong, profound and weird they would rather “burn down” the country than let anyone else rule!

“The ‘new’ regime can be viewed from different angles, but the nub of it is this: there’s a recognition that the economic fiasco of the last 20 years was suboptimal, but Emmerson Mnangagwa and his fellow travellers will burn the house down if they feel it necessary. Make no mistake, their will to power is every bit as intense as Mugabe’s—as is their belief that they own the country’s choicest fruits by right of conquest,” wrote Stuart Doran in ASPI Strategist.

“There’s no comprehending Zimbabwe without an appreciation of that mentality. Yet many fail to get it because they don’t read the country’s history. In 1979, at the height of the struggle against white rule, a diplomat who mixed frequently with Mugabe and other leaders of his party observed that ‘ZANU does not seem to attach much importance to the destruction caused by prolonged war’. They said they were content to see Zimbabwe ‘totally’ demolished if that was the price to be paid for preventing others from ruling it. That attitude has not changed an iota, notwithstanding the passage of 40 years and Mugabe’s departure. After all, the men who now rule wielded his hatchets for most of that period.

“That’s a tough ask for the same group of individuals who have shredded the country since 1980—a fraternity that will continue to loot, will continue to be tetchy about the merest hint of dissent, and will continue to patently despise the notion that it requires the consent of the people to govern.”

If it can be considered a plan, then MDC/CCC’s plan is do nothing. The people of Zimbabwe have risked life and limb to elect MDC leaders into power on the promise they would implement the democratic changes design to end the Zanu PF dictatorship. Nelson Chamisa, just like Morgan Tsvangirai before, is not going to implement even one token reform and thus challenge Zanu PF domination. He is quite contend fighting for the few gravy train seats, Zanu PF is obliged to give away for the sake of maintaining the facade of Zimbabwe as multi-party state, whilst he waits his turn to rule.

Since Zanu PF would rather burn down Zimbabwe than let anyone else rule, CCC is waiting for Zimbabwe to burn down - it is burning down alright. 43 years of gross mismanagement, rampant corruption and tyrannical rule have left the country is economic ruins and millions are living in abject poverty.

Still CCC continue to participate in flawed elections to give Zanu PF more time in power to burn down the country even more. They want to Zimbabwe completely burnt down!

Of course, if your plan is to sit and wait for the country to burn down, you do not need a functioning political party complete with party structures, a constitution, etc., etc. After all Morgan Tsvangirai had all those political party niceties and MDC accomplished nothing of not.

The political atmosphere in Zimbabwe is subdued because a number of Zimbabweans now realise these 2023 elections are not going to deliver any change. The so-called CCC big win is just hot air. The penny has finally dropped that MDC/CCC are not fighting for reforms, free and fair elections and thus end the curse of rigged elections and bad governance - the very things they promised to do and what the people elected them to do.

If Zimbabweans still want an end to the Zanu PF dictatorship and an end to their own tragic suffering then they must search for the men and women willing to implement the reforms and end the madness of Zanu PF dictatorship. Because Zanu PF is burning the country down and would have the whole country in ruin than let anyone else rule!

Zanu PF does not have the divide right to rule the country much less burn it down. By participating in these flawed elections and giving the regime legitimacy we are, per se, perpetuating the dictatorship and our own suffering. This is insane!

Re: One Year Under Arbitrary Detention in My Oppressor's Prison

My dear Zimbabweans, Regional and Worldwide Friends!

The 14th of June 2023 marks the end of one full twelve-month cycle of my incarceration. It also marks the beginning of another cycle. I do not know how many more twelve-month cycles I shall endure in this dungeon. Only my oppressors know. I do not care at all. They can confine my physical being, but they can never confine my spirit. My resolve remains unshaken. I have not lost hope. I will never lose hope. I do not hope for justice in my own matters. Oppressors never serve justice. Oppressors have no shame.

There is no denying the Zanu PF regime is a corrupt and tyrannical regime. But there is no denying that country had the golden opportunity to to implement the democratic reforms and end the Zanu PF dictatorship during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. MDC leaders not only wasted the opportunity but worse still by stubborning participating in these flawed elections they have given SADC the excuse to grant Zanu PF legitimacy.

Job Sikhala, Tendai Biti, Nelson Chamisa and the rest of Zimbabwe’s opposition leaders knew it was futile participating in the flawed elections and still they went ahead out of greed. Sikhala must remember that it was none other than him and his fellow CCC leaders who the regime, he now call “My Oppressor”, legitimacy.

Indeed, his fellow CCC leaders including his own son are participating in these 2023 elections to renew and extend Zanu PF’s legitimacy, even as he himself languishes in prison. What some people will do for 30 pieces of silver, what is making this case particularly nauseating is that CCC leaders know that they are selling out, they have known this all along!

  2. It is true that Zanu PF will never reform itself out of office. It is equally true that Zanu PF will never implement any reforms as long as the regime knows that CCC will participate in the flawed elections to give it legitimacy. We also know MDC/CCC will participate in the elections no matter how flawed the process got as long as Zanu PF continues to give away the few gravy train seats as bait.

The fight over the bait seats is so fierce Biti calls CCC colleague a snake whose head must be crushed. No wonder MDC/CCC leaders boycotting elections to demand reforms was a lead balloon that never took off! Of course, Zanu PF knows that and hence the reason it has the bait and is confident the lead balloon will never fly, at least not with this greed opposition lot.

“Out of 197 pple in this group it's only you arikutaura tsvina I don't understand your level of your education my guy it seems like you are a project of ZANU PF by the way you don't deserve to stay were you are staying right now they must send you back home and taste the same madicine the majority of people coming across with.”

So anyone who dares to differ with you must be a Zanu PF project; how stupid! I am calling for reforms and free and fair elections. When has Zanu PF ever called for free and fair elections?

“I'm sure CCC is not the only opposition party contesting in these election. Everyone single party contesting are saying they are going to win big. Even if CCC does not contest the elections will not be stopped. Your idea of CCC not contesting does not work. You have too much negative energy. The current biggest party with bigger proportion in parliament is MDC Alliance or MDC T.”

"The electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility,” confessed David Coltart in his Book.

There are three key points Coltart has made here:

that the process is so flawed your participation will change nothing

that participating will give Zanu PF legitimacy

that MDC leaders participated regardless out of greed

So unless you are one of the leaders seeking the 30 pieces of silver, it is insane for you to participate to give Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuating your own suffering! It is obvious to him with common sense and not everyone has common sense!

There are many Zimbabweans out there who have completely failed to see the madness of participating, you are clearly one of them. Zimbabwe has more than her fair share of mentally challenged people and hence the reason why the country is in a mess, blundering from pillar to post and the most miserable nation on earth.

  5. Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa claims the resurgent skyrocketing inflation - which has seen the country plunge into a third hyperinflation wave in 15 years - is a calculated political attack and sabotage of his government to fuel public unrest ahead of the August elections.

In what sounded like an elaborate yet unsubstantiated conspiracy theory, Mnangagwa said dramatic price increases were a reaction to his recent proclamation of the elections date.

Conveniently, he made no link between price increases and money supply, as well as currency and exchange volatility.

Government policy failures and fiscal profligacy - aggravated by the current huge elections-related spending - always don't feature in his snake oil economics.

Economists say resurgent inflation is stoked by money supply growth  and liberalisation of the exchange rate, which led to an immediate local currency collapse.

Fiscal and monetary authorities are now battling the implosion.

Mnangagwa made these claims in Gweru at the official opening of a five-day orientation and induction workshop for Zanu PF aspiring elections candidates.

He also said his party will launch its election manifesto in Chipinge, Manicaland.

Zanu PF has been in power for 43 years. Its record has been nothing short of the calamitous.”

The prospect of yet another rigged election and the corruption and chaos continuing for yet another five more years is bound to spook everyone into despair! We really are a lost nation! Fcuk me! We cannot do even the most elementary stuff like producing a verified voters’ roll!

  6. The tragedy for Zimbabwe is that whilst Zanu PF is burning the country down that see someone else rule CCC's will to power is to let the nation burn than confront Zanu PF.

The people have risk all to elect MDC/CCC on the understanding the party will deliver democratic change but after 23 years it has failed to deliver even one reform. Not a sausage!

  7. I am an investor in Zimbabwe and play my part.

The country’s runaway inflation affects investors, the workers and the ordinary people alike.

A very impressive crop. If these are cabbages, for example, how much, in local currency, are you charged per head? How much are you paying your own workers, again in local currency. Well, unless you are one of those employer who review the wage of the work as often as you review the price of your goods and services.

With inflation soaring to 800% whatever you paid some of worker last month is not enough to buy a cabbage a day for the rest of this month! What about transport, accommodation, etc., etc. As an employer I am sure you will face your own serious challenges such as soaring fuel prices alone soaking up all the money you thought was enough to meet all your business operation expenses.

A very impressive crop indeed, good luck with finding the customers for your produce! If this is tobacco, then road ahead is going to be long and tough. Very tough!

Many investors will be bankrupted by the current economic challenges!

  8. Zimbabwe's hyperinflation of 2008 is back! As long as the country remains a pariah state ruled by corrupt, incompetent and murderous thugs who rig elections to stay in power; there will be no meaningful economic development and stability.

Zanu PF is rigging 2023 elections and CCC are participating to give SADC the excuse to grant Zanu PF legitimacy. We are clearly not yet ready for good governance and economic stability.

Zanu PF is rigging these elections, CCC are participating out of greed to give Zanu PF legitimacy and ordinary Zimbabweans are participating to give Zanu PF legitimacy because they are foolish enough to believe the oxymoronic lies of Winning In Rigged Elections Strategies (WIRES).

Only a fool will give up their right to free and fair elections for WIRES especially after 43 years of rigged elections!

If you think these elections are free, fair and credible or that Chamisa's Winning In Rigged Elections Strategies are stopping Zanu PF rigging these elections then you will know the truth on 24 August. Not that it will sink in, Zanu PF has rigged elections these last 43 years and you are none the wiser!

Zimbabwe’s curse was to give the vote to people who don’t even have the common sense to see they are being conned even after 43 years of being short changed! Universal suffrage should have been a blessing and now it is a curse!

    “Propagandist!” Yeah right!

  11. Mugabe outwitted MDC, Scarecrow (Wizard of OZ) style, to forget implementing democratic reforms

Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends failed to implement even one token reform during the five years of the 2008 to 2013 GNU for three reasons:

    1) they were greedy, Mugabe bribed them with the trappings of high office and they forgot about reforms.

    2) they are breathtakingly incompetent, Mugabe had Tsvangirai and company convinced MDC would win elections hands down regardless of whatever vote rigging shenanigans Zanu PF employed.

    3) MDC leaders were never ever under and pressure to implement reforms from their supporter or the Zimbabwe public - it is a blessing to have naive and gullible electorate.

  12. @ Mavaza

Mnangagwa has increased the money supply from the 100% to 400% pay increase for teachers and low rank Police at one end of the scale to US$ 40 000, US$ 400 000 to US$ 500 000 for MPS, Judges and Ministers. This is what has fuelled inflation, too much money chasing too few goods and service pushes up prices and too much money will force the weaker currency to lose value causing the currency volatility.

It is NO surprise the regime is blaming everyone else for the chaos expect itself. This is just the classical case of the bad wolf up stream, blaming the lamb, down stream, of mudding its drinking water.

Zanu PF has always shown that the party will do anything to retain power as we saw with the Gukurahundi massacre, the election coup in 2008, the military coup in 2017 and the blatant cheating, violence, vote buying, etc. this year. Zanu PF is rigging these elections and is dragging the nation back into the hyperinflation days of 2008 and does not care as long as it wins the 2023 elections.

It is tragic that the opposition is hell bent on participating in these flawed elections giving SADC the excuse to grant Zanu PF legitimacy all because Chamisa and company are after the few gravy train seats on offer as bait. The US$40 000 bonus for MPs has raised the stakes CCC members are fighting amongst themselves, Tendai Biti was calling his main challenger in Harare North parliamentary constituency “a snake whose head must be crushed”!

CCC is hell bent on participating, boycotting the elections is completely out of the question. And the door is wide open for Zanu PF to do as it damn well please. Mnangagwa does not need a second invitation to rig elections at all costs as we can see!

    ReplyDelete
  13. “You say truth let's wait till after elections, those who called you a Zanu project, vacha nyara

It does not make sense to participate in flawed elections and except a win.”

We all know that Zanu PF is rigging these elections and CCC’s Winning In Rigged Elections Strategies (WIRES) are all hot air. We must denounce the flawed elections and CCC for selling out NOW and not have to wait until 24 August when it will be too late. If we say nothing now SADC will assume we all approve what is going on and grant Zanu PF political legitimacy.

The maxim is "Qui tacet consentit": the maxim of the law is "Silence gives consent".

I am not interested in “I told you so!” I don’t want to give SADC the excuse to grant Zanu PF political legitimacy and thus plunge the nation deeper and deeper into this hell on earth. It is insane to participate in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuate one’s own suffering and after 43 years of rigged elections it is even more insane NOT to do everything one can to end this madness!

Besides buffoons like Mnangagwa has no shame, if they had they would have drowned a long time ago overwhelmed by the many shameful things they done - Gukurahundi massacre, the 2008 election coup, 2017 military coup, etc. Rigging the 2023 elections will mean nothing to these morons! The challenge is to end the dictatorship and the tragic human suffering and not to shame thugs whose skin is impermeable to shame as their minds is impermeable to reason!

✅ Zimbabweans United In Solidarity With Job Sikhala

This is just nonsense! “We aim to inspire hope and empower citizens to demand change”! CCC knows that Zanu PF is rigging these 2023 elections and none, not even one, of the party’s Winning In Rigged Elections Strategies (WIRES) are doing anything to stop the Zanu PF vote rigging juggernaut. Nelson Chamisa and his fellow leaders know that their participation in these elections will only give SADC the excuse to grant Zanu PF legitimacy.

"The electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. The question here is: How many more years these CCC leaders going to continue selling out the nation for 30 pieces of silver? Just because the many Zimbabweans have no clue the primary purpose of the 2008 to 2013 GNU was to implement democratic reforms and MDC/CCC leaders sold out does not mean Chamisa and company are free to continue in their treasonous pursuit!

  15. “Participating in elections without reforms is better than boycotting because if ccc boycots the elections will go ahead, remember Douglas nzondora is there Robert Chapman and other fly by night parties. It is then up to any right thinking voter to decide which party will improve their welfare as it stands right zanu pf has failed dismally. There's no need for patronage politics but national unity of all voters to vote zanu pf out.”

This is the same feeble excuse Coltart gave to justify participating, if we don’t others will, or be it he was courageous enough to say why - “winning seats”!

Zanu PF needs the opposition to participate in numbers to give the impression Zimbabwe is a healthy and functioning democracy and is laying the bait to entice them. And it is working! It is naive, to say the least to think CCC are doing povo a great favour by participating in these flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and stop Mwonzora getting into power. Zanu PF has its majority and political legitimacy and therefore able to do as it damn well please.

MDC A garnered 40% or so of the votes in 2018 and the rest of the opposition got 4%. How anyone can then say MDC A boycotting would have gone unnoticed beggars belief!

Lest people forget, MDC leaders failed to implement even one reforms during the GNU, they held all the trump cards then and it was in their power and not Zanu PF to propose and implement reforms. They did not implement even one reform then for the same reasons they are participating in these flawed elections - greed and breathtakingly incompetent.

New comers like Chapman should not participate in these elections knowing fully well that doing so will give SADC the excuse to grant Zanu PF legitimacy. He should boycott the elections and add to the voicing demanding reforms BEFORE elections because that is “the only logical step”, as Coltart admitted. Chapman is participating because he too is after the bait and POLAD freebies!

“Sir, i have read all your messages, powerful points, what must we do as Zimbabweans? I believe elections are not for the opposition only but for every citizen to see that we vote for that change which we want as Zimbabweans, what I have learnt since 1980 up to now is that ZANU has never won a single election, it has been rigging and threatening the electorates, whether we vote or we don’t vote.

ZANU will always have its way to take over power, because they are greedy and hungry for power and they want to protect their interests through corruption, so Sir my question is, what is the best way to not vote and we stop ZANU from governing?

The politics in Zim it’s toxic, we need leaders who will unite Zimbabweans, we are divided on tribal lines and for ZANU it is a great thing, because they benefit on their divide and rule system, we still have a long way to go, such a beautiful country with beautiful people and rich culture, ZANU has torn us apart, we have too much anger towards each other.”

The 2008 elections were a watershed elections in that Zanu PF forced to do a number of key things:

SADC forced Zanu PF to switch-off its vote rigging juggernaut before the March 2008 plebiscite and so the nation was able to have the nearest to free, fair and credible elections in the nation’s history.

When Zanu PF realised the party had lost the March vote, Mnangagwa switched the vote rigging machine back on to stop the results being announce. The Zanu PF vote rigging machine took over the election process, it took six weeks to recount 5 million votes and whittle down Tsvangirai’s 73% to 47% enough to justify a runoff.

The runoff was all about Zanu PF punishing the voters for having dared to reject the party. “What was achieved by the gun cannot be undone by the ballot!” thundered Mugabe as the party’s militia, war veterans, Police, Army, CIO and Prison Services member unleashed the worst election related violence the nation had ever seen.

Tsvangirai was forced to withdraw from the race and Mugabe won the one-horse race. Zanu PF formed the new government.

SADC and AU refused to grant Zanu PF political legitimacy given the blatant cheating and wanton violence. Mugabe was forced to sign the 2008 Global Political Agreement agreeing to the need to implement democratic reforms and holding fresh elections. Mugabe and Zanu PF realised the days of the de facto one party state were over. The challenge for Mugabe was how to keep his dictatorial powers and still maintain the facade Zimbabwe was now a multi-party democracy.

Mugabe was in luck, it turned out that Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends were corrupt, incompetent and utterly useless. He bribed them with the trappings of high office and they forgot about the reforms. Not even the regular nagging by SADC leaders got MDC leaders to implement even one token reform.

Since the GNU debacle, MDC/CCC have been participating in these flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed.

We are where we are; we can’t stop Zanu PF rigging the elections nor CCC participating. What we can do is denounce the flawed process and CCC for selling out and make sure SADC hears our protestation and does not assume we approve of this madness. SADC must not given the excuse to grant Zanu PF political legitimacy.

In 2008 people were killed the elections went ahead and where was sadc.”

SADC has always turned a blind eye to Zanu PF abuse of power including endorsing rigged elections, that is a matter of historic fact. However in 2008, SADC did refuse to endorse Mugabe and Zanu PF as the legitimate government and forced the regime to sign the 2008 Global Political Agreement, agreeing to the need to implement democratic reforms. The GNU was formed to implement the reforms. Credit where credit is due!

The fact that not even one reform was implemented in 5 years of the GNU was MDC’s fault and not SADC.

SADC made a last minute desperate attempt to have the 2013 elections postponed until reforms were implemented. “If you participate in these elections, you will lose. The elections are done!” SADC leaders warned Tsvangirai and company to their faces. The warning was ignored and you have nothing to say about MDC? Fuck me!

As long as Zanu PF rigs and wins the majority and the presidency the regime does not mind how many vocal opposition there are - they will make the noise but never stop Zanu PF doing as it pleases. The question people must ask themselves is having a few opposition making a lot of noise the price worth paying for the status quo?

If we are serious about ending the Zanu PF dictatorship then we must demand reforms and free elections and not allow ourselves to be distracted by Zanu PF dirty tricks of giving away a few gravy train seats and make a big song and dance about it, giving it as proof the opposition CAN win rigged elections. To give up our right to free, fair and credible elections for the promise to win rigged elections is trading gold for fool’s gold. How anyone can fall for that especially after 43 years of Zanu PF Mafiosi rigging elections beggars belief!

  26. Zimbabwe is the most miserable country on earth and so we already spend more man-days per year being miserable than any one else out there. After 24 August the man-days of misery will increase by another 20% as the truth of Zanu PF rigged the 2023 elections dawns on many! Right now many believe CCC will win big and they will listen to no reason.

Want to cry, you will have plenty to cry about after 24 August 2023! Muchachema nemuridzo!

    URGENT and IMPORTANT;

Can everyone who was registered to vote during @ZECzim blitz check via #265 if their names are there or not.

If they are not there, go to @ZECzim offices immediately.

Pane nyaya is all I can say.

    The opposition, open your eyes!

    1. My constituency seems to be moved from Harare West to Mt Pleasant

    2. I was also moved across town when I have a polling station next to my house ☹️

    3. @ZECzim is anti people

    4. You wont believe that l check mine twice a day. In the morning and evening, after my name was deleted and later restored. I have to be very sure that l will certainly exercise my right to vote for my preferred candidate.

    5. I found my details but l have been moved from Mbare to Hatfield why @ZECzim answer please

This is the essence of the mentality “We can win rigged elections!” Of course, it is foolishness personified. How many voters will be able to do this? Indeed, why should they do this? This is not one should be doing if ZEC was independent and delivering free, fair and credible elections.

The nation should be involved in discuss who has the best election manifesto and not fighting to be on the voters’ roll.

Zanu PF is rigging these elections and all these endless battles with ZEC are not going to change anything indeed they are now the feeble excuses for participating in the flawed process. And by participating people must know that they will, per se, give SADC the excuse to grant Zanu PF legitimacy.
