Easy to trick MDC A will participate in 2023 and again give Zanu PF modicum of legitimacy W Mukori

There have been many golden opportunities to end the Zanu PF dictatorship in the last 41 years; the only reason the regime is still in office and lording over us is because the nation has had the great misfortune of having corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent opposition who Mugabe and now Mnangagwa has found easy to trick.

Let’s face it, Zanu PF thugs have run rings round the opposition; instead of the opposition ending the Zanu PF dictatorship, they are the ones keeping Zanu PF in power and frustrating the fight for free, fair and credible elections.

“We the citizens will fight Zanu PF together with Chamisa. For your own info Zanu PF is nothing in 2023 we will vote Zanu PF out and nothing will happen Zanu PF will just hand over power if it refuses we do not care we will put in power the person that won the elections. We are ready this time around we will defend our vote and we do not care with Charamba and ED hallucinations. 2023 Amadlaaaaaa ngawethu uuuu.” Argued Abednico Mweembe Mweembe, a well-known ardent Chamisa chete, chete supporter.

Mweembe Mweembe, is but a representative sample of the hundreds of thousands of the atypical MDC members out there; all naïve and gullible idiots whose brain has all but ossified into fatty tissue. Their minds are now impermeable to reason, truth or reality.

Nelson Chamisa and his MDC friends have been on the national political stage for 21 years, 5 of which in the GNU, and yet have failed to bring about even one democratic change. They had many opportunities to bring about change especially during the 2008 to 2013 GNU when they wasted the five years with their snouts in the feeding trough and forgot about implementing the reforms.

Like it or not Chamisa and company have proven beyond all reasonable doubt that they are corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent. This must all be obvious to all by now but not to the likes of Mweembe Mweembe; one must spell it all out again and in detail.

In March 2008 Zimbabweans went out in droves and voted for Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends – I would argue out of desperation, the nation would have voted for a donkey just to rid themselves of Robert Mugabe and his dictatorship. Tsvangirai garnered 73% of the vote, by Mugabe’s own Freudian slip.

Mnangagwa and his Joint Operations Command (JOC) cronies ordered ZEC to stop announcing the results and after six weeks of cooking up the results; Tsvangirai’s 73% had been whittled down to 47%, just enough to force a run-off.

We will not bother ask Mweembe Mweembe why he and his friends did not “put Tsvangirai in power the person that won the March 2008 elections?” We know this the usual MDC grandstanding and posturing, and we should just continue with the narrative.

The 2008 run-off was all about Zanu PF punishing the people of Zimbabwe for daring to reject Mugabe and the party in the March vote. The party launched military style Operation “Mavhotera papi” (Whom did you vote for!) deploying the war veterans and green bombers to destroy property, harass, beat, and rape whilst the heavy-duty stuff of abducting and killing was left to the Army, Police, CIO and Prison Service personal as directed by Mnangagwa and JOC.

“What was achieved by the bullet cannot be undone by the ballot!” thundered Robert Mugabe as befitting Operation Mavhotera papi commander-in-chief!

Not even SADC leaders, who had in the past endorsed Zanu PF’s rigged elections, would recognise Mugabe and Zanu PF as the legitimate government after the blatant cheating and wanton violence of the 2008 elections. SADC leaders forced Mugabe to agree on the need to implement a raft of democratic reforms to ensure future elections are free, fair and credible.

The primary purpose of the 2008 to 2013 GNU was to implement the democratic reforms to stop a repeat of the blatant cheating and wanton violence of the 2008 elections. And it was left to Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends to implement the reforms.

Robert Mugabe, the cunning dictator had no trouble conning the MDC simpleton into believing MDC leaders were now fully fledged members of the Zimbabwe ruling elite therefore entitled to all the trappings of high office. With their snouts in the feeding trough 110 MPs, 45 senators, 20 ministers, 2 Deputy Prime Ministers and Prime Minister Tsvangirai himself, all forgot about implementing the reforms for the next five, FIVE, years!

As for Abednico Mweembe Mweembe and the rest of MDC wildebeest herd have never understood what the GNU was about, even now with the benefit of hindsight and the multitude of articles, etc. explaining the GNU was about implementing reforms to guarantee free, fair and credible elections.

When SADC leaders realised that no reforms were implemented, they wanted the 2013 elections to be postponed to allow reforms to be implemented BEFORE elections. “If you take part in next month’s elections, you will lose; the elections are done!” they told Tsvangirai and company to their faces. The warning was plain and blunt!

As we all know, MDC leaders not only participated in the 2013 elections which Zanu PF blatantly rigged but went on to repeat the same foolishness in 2018 with the same result. And right now, Chamisa and company are gearing to contest the 2023 elections knowing fully well that with no reforms Zanu PF will blatantly rig the elections as before.

As long as Zanu PF retains its carte blanche powers to rig election, to overhaul a 73% opposition victory if need be, Mnangagwa knows he will never ever lose an election. The very fact that the opposition, even with all the evidence of Zanu PF’s limitless powers to rig elections, still believe Zimbabwean elections are the normal A vs B equal contest is a measure of just how gullible and easy to trick, “facilius fallere”, MDC leaders are.

Even after 41 years of rigged elections Chamisa is still banking on his solid plan of Winning In Rigged Election (WIRE) strategies. The very idea of accepting that Zanu PF should be allowed any power to rig elections is irrational; why bother coming up with the rules on elections or anything at all if Zanu PF is allowed to disregard the rules with no consequences.

Of course, it is foolish that WIRE strategies should be used as an excuse failing to implement the reforms and worse still for participating in flawed elections.

Chamisa and his all the opposition opportunists have participated in Zimbabwe’s flawed elections because Zanu PF has offered a few gravy train seats to entice them to participate. Mnangagwa has since added very generous POLAD perks to all those who participated in the 2018  presidential rat race and publicly indorsed his legitimacy.

Political legitimacy must be based on winning the majority votes in a free, fair and credible election process and not on the number of opposition opportunists bribed to participate in the flawed and illegal process. The challenge is to expose the grandstanding of the opposition opportunists whose continued participation in flawed and illegal elections is giving vote rigging Zanu PF some modicum of political legitimacy.

“In 2023 we will vote Zanu PF out and put winner into power!” This is just cheat talk, Tsvangirai won 73% in March 2008, who stopped you putting him into power? Without implement the reforms to take away Zanu PF’s excessive dictatorial powers, the same will happen again in 2023.

  1. ZIMBABWE this week received nearly US$1 billion from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) strengthening the country’s foreign currency position.

In a joint statement, Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube and Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) governor John Mangudya said the funds came through from IMF’s Special Drawing Rights (SDR) facility aimed at increasing liquidity across the global economies

“The funds will be used prudently, with utmost accountability to support social sectors namely health, education, and the vulnerable groups, productive sectors that include industry, agriculture and mining, infrastructure investment covering roads and housing, and foreign currency reserves and contingency fund to support our domestic currency and macro-economic stability.

“We would like to express our gratitude to the IMF for the disbursement which shall be used transparently in line with the IMF note,” the statement added.

If Zimbabwe had been prudent is anything the country would not be a Banana Republic and failed state! A recent Auditor General’s report showed the $890 million from the donors to help alleviate corona virus induced economic hardships was looted. The Autor General had to bypass VP Chiwenga and give it to the Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Mudenda, because the VP who is also Minister of Health, the parent ministry that received most of the funds, was refusing to release the report.

What ever assistance Zimbabwe is receiving from the IMF and other institution is but a fraction of what the nations could be receiving if we did not have the reputation of being a wasteful and corrupt nation.

Zimbabwe must implement the democratic reforms and finally hold the nation’s first ever free, fair and credible elections; the guarantee to end the curse of rigged elections and bad governance. Nothing of any substance can ever be accomplished until we cure ourselves of the curse of rigged elections. Nothing!

  2. For his part, opposition leader Nelson Chamisa has said his turn is coming. He congratulated Zambia’s new president and said his victory ‘inspired us all’. Zimbabwe’s Information Ministry spokesman, Nick Mangwana, was quick to mock this, commenting ‘there is always this bridesmaid who is never destined to marry’.

Mnangagwa’s spokesman, George Charamba, added in a tweet: ‘Mnangagwa and his generation did not go to war so they could hand over the country to Chamisa on a silver platter.

The truth is when it comes to elections we in Zimbabwe have been our own worst enemy. In 2008 Robert Mugabe and Zanu PF showed the world the regime will never allowed the opposition to rule the country. Tsvangirai won 73% of the votes in the March vote and Zanu PF stopped ZEC announcing the result for six weeks whilst the cooked up the figures, whittling down the 73% to 47% to force the run-off. During the run-off Zanu PF punished the voters for daring to reject Mugabe and the party. Mugabe won the run-off with 84%!

The message was loud and clear, Zanu PF will blatantly rig the elections and never ever allow Zimbabwe opposition to rule the country. SADC leaders got the message and hence the reason why they forced Mugabe and Zanu PF to agree to the need for the country to implement a raft of democratic reforms to ensure future elections will not be a repeat of the 2008 blatant cheating and wanton violence. Sadly, Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends did not get the Zanu PF vote rigging message.

It was for Tsvangirai and company to implement the democratic reforms, they failed to get even one reform implemented in five years of the 2008 to 2013 GNU. SADC leaders tried to get the 2013 elections postponed until reforms were implemented but their warn fell on deaf MDC ears. MDC leaders have been participating in the flawed and illegal elections in Zimbabwe; stubbornly insist they have Winning In Rigged Election (WIRE) strategies.

Chamisa is gearing to participate in the 2023 elections claiming he has a “SOLID PLAN”, the new name for the tried and failed WIRE strategies.

The people of Zimbabwe should have put the foot down during the GNU and ensured all the reforms were implemented. Worse still, Zimbabweans have swallowed the opposition’s WIRE strategies nonsense and by participating in the flawed and illegal elections have given the vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy!

Zimbabweans only themselves to blame for the country being stuck with the Zanu PF dictatorship, they had many chances to dismantle it and wasted them all. And until we get to our senses and finally implement the reforms the country will never have free and fair elections, our ticket for a peaceful route out of this mess. By doggedly following Chamisa and his WIRE strategies, Zimbabweans are telling the world we are not yet ready for democratic change.

“I want to correct the writer of this article that he or she stops referring to MDC alliance followers as few thousands that is crazy in 2018 we were 2.6m and come 2023 we will hit 6m mark that is a fact. Secondly this time around we will deal with anyone who will try to refuse to hand over power bcoz we are ready for it. Kuzadabuka amabhulugwe kucitheke lezishebo. Try it and you will have yourself to blame if you head gets kicked off. 2008 we were caught unaware this time we are very much awake and izowubamba umthetho amadlaaaa kuNelson.”

By the mid-1990s the people of Zimbabwe were well aware that Robert Mugabe and his Zanu PF cronies were corrupt and incompetent, the regime’s promise of mass prosperity was turning into mass poverty. Tried as they did to remove Zanu PF from office they failed because the regime rigged the elections and by the late 1990s the nation came to the consensus decision that the nation needed to carry out a wide-ranging democratic changes/reforms design to end Zanu PF’s dictatorial powers and restore the people freedoms and rights including the right to free and fair elections.

The people have risked life and limb to elect Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends on the understanding the party will implement the democratic reforms the nation was dying for. After 21 years, 5 of which in the GNU, MDC has failed to implement even one reform. Worse still, by participating in flawed elections MDC is giving the vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy.

Anyone who is anyone has called for democratic reforms to be implemented before elections. SADC leaders forced Zanu PF to sign the 2008 Global Political Agreement agreeing to the implementation of a raft of reforms and culminating in the holding of fresh elections. Not even one reform was implemented in five years. SADC leaders advised MDC not to participate in the elections without reforms and the advice was ignored.

The international community and SADC can help Zimbabwe end this curse of rigged elections and bad governance and they have all advised that Zimbabwe must implement the democratic reforms to ensure clean, transparent, legal, free, fair and credible elections. Both Zanu PF and MDC have ignored the advice; the former maintains the elections are free and fair and there is no need for any reforms and the later believes it has devised “Winning In Rigged Elections (WIRE)” strategies.

Zanu PF’s vote rigging capacity overhauled Tsvangirai’s 73% in 2008 and it is naïve to believe Chamisa’s SOLID PLAN, a concoction of the tried and failed WIRE strategies, will match that!

In Zimbabweans participate in these 2023 elections with no reforms they must know two things:

    1) By participating they have, per se, agreed Zanu PF and MDC that Zimbabwe does not need to implement reforms thus are ignoring the SADC and international community’s advice to implement reforms BEFORE elections. The penalty of ignoring advice is the international community will leave Zimbabwe to stew in our own mess!

    2) By participating in the flawed elections we are giving the vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy and Chamisa and company are after the few gravy train seats Zanu PF is giving away to entice the opposition to participate. We, the ordinary people, are the big losers here because we are the one who will remain stuck with the corrupt, incompetent and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship.

“This time around we will deal with anyone who will try to refuse to hand over power!” This is just an empty threat from any empty head! Chamisa says he won 2.6 million vote in 2018 and yet failed to produce all the V11 forms, the Polling Station vote count summary sheets, to prove it. Even ZEC failed to produce all the V11 forms on which Mnangagwa’s 2.4 million votes was based because the regime produced so many V11 forms not even ZEC was able to keep track of what was going on.

So, both Mnangagwa and Chamisa were claiming victory and neither had the evidence to prove their claim because the whole election process “lacked transparency, traceability and verifiability”, as EU Election Observer Mission final report stated.

Mnangagwa used the Army force to ram down his claim of electoral victory down the nation’s throat; soldiers were ordered to shoot to kill anyone who dare to protest the rigged elections, many people were killed, and others wounded. And it is no surprise that Chamisa has always threatened to use violence, street protests, to ram down his claim to power.

Of course, the very idea of participating in a flawed election processes and having to risk life and limb defending an election victory that you cannot possibly prove because the process in flawed is stupid and insane.

The rational position is to implement the democratic reforms, so the election process is transparent, traceable, verifiable, free, fair and credible. Everybody, SADC and international community will back the winner 100% and there will be no need to resort to any violence to back one’s victory.

The whole world must know that there is a growing number of Zimbabweans who reject the folly of participating in rigged elections and accept the need to implement the democratic reforms BEFORE elections. If the 2023 elections go ahead with no reforms, then there will be no legitimate winner because a flawed and illegal electoral process cannot produce a legitimate result!

“If Chamisa stops participating, what happens next? remember the POLAD guys will be there as well as the official opposition (MDC-T) to give the same modicum of legitimacy.”

This is just a foolish argument starting nowhere and going nowhere!

If you accept the reality that the Zimbabwe election process is flawed and illegal; so flawed it can overhaul a 73% opposition victory to whittle it down to 47%, to justify the run-off and then use wanton violence to turn a 21% in March 2008 vote into 84% in June; then you will have no qualms in accepting that it is foolish to participate in such an election.

You must first accept the political reality that POLAD was formed after the 2018 elections. Chamisa, Biti, Mwonzora, Madhuku, Khupe, etc., etc. all participated in the 2018 elections knowing fully well that Zanu PF was going to rig the elections just as it had done in the past. They all participated because they also knew that Zanu PF would be giving away a few gravy train seats to entice opposition to participate.

In other words Zanu PF need the opposition to participate to get legitimacy and was bribing them to participate with a few gravy train seats and a share of the annual Political Party Finance Act pay-out.

So, Chamisa and company participated in the 2018 elections knowing the process was flawed and illegal; they knew that ZEC did not even produce something as basic as a verified voters’ roll for Pete’s sake; knowing do so will save no useful purpose, none, but will give Zanu PF legitimacy. They still participated regardless of all these negatives because they were after the few gravy train seats.

“If Chamisa stopped participating (in 2018), what happens next?” you might have asked back then. He would have lost out on the few gravy train seats, one would have answered back then.

Yes, some of the candidates in the 2018 elections have since endorsed Mnangagwa as the winner of the 2018 elections, a condition for joining POLAD, but those like Chamisa who did not are just as guilty of greed in participating in the 2018 election. To suggest therefore that Chamisa will not be guilty of greed in participating in the 2023 elections because he is stopping POLAD guys winning the gravy train seats if nonsense.

By participating these opposition opportunists are giving Zanu PF legitimacy and that is what real matters here!

There are a growing number of Zimbabweans who accept the sheer folly of participating in flawed elections and giving Zanu PF legitimacy and are demanding reforms BEFORE elections and pointedly refusing to participate. They are also calling for the rigged elections to be declared null and void; a flawed and illegal process cannot produce a legitimate result!

“Wilbert Mukori Tell us what should be done from now going forward. We all know the history, my Boet.

Will you stand for the Presidential elections?”

Listen to SADC, the international community and anyone else out there with half a brain’s advice: do not participate in election process so flawed that Tsvangirai failed to win even with 73% of the votes especially when do so gives the vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy; that is number one. Two, demand that the flawed 2023 elections must be declared null and void. How can elections in which the process “lacked transparency, traceability and verifiability” as EU Election Mission final report stated; be legal, free, fair and credible? How can an illegal process produce a legal and legitimate result?

After 41 years of rigged elections and blundering from pillar to post; Zimbabwe is desperate to do something right. Well, here is something we can do right; implement the democratic reforms and hold the nation’s first ever free, fair and credible elections. This is not rocket science and it will cost nothing! I will be damned if I will let a foolish upstart like Nelson Chamisa and a buffoon like Mnangagwa con the nation into yet another flawed election process and get away with it.

If 2023 elections go ahead with no reforms in place the process will be flawed and illegal and the result will be declared null and void. Period!

I would stand in the 2023 elections is I am interested in trying my luck in winning one of the gravy train seats Zanu PF is giving away to entice the opposition. Unlike Nelson Chamisa and the rest in the opposition camp I will be honest enough to the people of Zimbabwe and tell them I am doing it out of greed and not lie about this being a legal electoral process.

“Will Chamisa's absence stop the elections from proceeding?”
Chamisa’s participation in 2018 did not stop Zanu PF rigging the elections what it did was give the vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy and Chamisa and a few of his friends got their reward of a few gravy train seats plus a cut of the annual Political Party Finance Act pay-out.

Everyone, be it ordinary Zimbabwean or opposition politician who pointedly refuse to participate in the elections until the reforms are implemented to guarantee a legal, free, fair and credible election process will be one more voice to be added to those demanding the 2023 elections be declared null and void if there are no reforms. Participating for no gain other than giving Zanu PF legitimacy is, without doubt, the most foolish position anyone can ever take!

“We are already busy campaigning for Chamisa bcoz 2023 he is winning the elections with or without so called reforms. Reforms never win elections what wins elections is huge turnout of voters. So we are already on the ground telling all those who hate Zanu never to miss voting in 2023. Amandlaaaa ku Nelson”

In 2008 the people of Zimbabwe hated Mugabe and Zanu PF so much that it was no exaggeration to say if the electoral choice was between Mugabe and the donkey, people would have voted for the donkey. People voted for Morgan Tsvangirai is droves, he garnered 73% of the March vote, by Mugabe’s own Freudian slip of the tongue. ZEC officials told their Zanu PF masters what was happening and Mnangagwa instructed ZEC not to announce the results. After six weeks of recounting 5 million votes Tsvangirai’s votes were whittled down to 47%, just enough to force a run-off.

During the run-off the voters were punished for having rejected Mugabe and Zanu PF in the March 2008 vote. Mugabe win the run-off with a staggering 84%!

It is naïve to maintain that Chamisa can win elections which Zanu PF has the same carte blanche powers to rig as in 2008!

Just because MDC leaders lack the common sense to implement the reforms when they had the opportunity to do so does not mean the reforms are not necessary much less there is no one who can implement them. The reforms are still necessary and there are plenty of Zimbabweans out there who can implement the reforms.

It is insane to keep participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and after the event to listen to MDC leaders wittering that Zanu PF rigged the election!

If 2023 elections go ahead with no reforms, they will be declared null and void!

“In a development that has sent the whole nation into rapt wonderment, the regime has publicly confirmed that work is almost complete for a US $270 million VVIP hospital at Manyame airbase near Harare where only the chefs will be treated.

Yes, they have built an exclusionary, elitist facility of shame at Manyame airbase that treats only Cabinet Ministers, service chiefs, the well-heeled and politically connected elite in the same way they created a similar exclusive Covid-19 treatment facility in Mt Pleasant for the chefs while the rest of us were left to mind own medical business.

It further boggles the mind that the state-of-the-art hospital for the chefs is being constructed at a far much higher cost than the cost of refurbishing the national referral hospitals that serve the entire nation.”

I would say this is a significant improvement of the current arrangement in which the ruling elite are traveling out of the country for even minor health care checks. We all remember Tendai Biti, as Minister of Finance who paid the bills, complaining that Mugabe made no fewer than 8 health care trips to the Far East each costing a cool US$ 3 million in 2012 alone. Add to this the health bill of Mugabe’s family plus all the other ruling elite and it is very possible that the nation was spending US$ 270 million per year on the health care needs for the ruling elite.

The travel restrictions imposed because of the corona virus has forced Zimbabwe’s ruling elite to reduce their travelling outside the country considerably and no doubt this played a part in forcing the regime to build the VVIP Manyame Hospital!

For the record, Tendai Biti and his MDC friends did not complain much about Mugabe’s US$24 million health bill, they were having their share of the gravy train good life. Tsvangirai got his US$4 million Highland mansion and he too travelled to South Africa for his health care needs at government expense!

Assembly, the MDC Alliance Students’ Council today launches the #StudentsForChangeZW
    campaign.

This initiative serves to mobilize students in all tertiary institutions within the parameters of the borders of our country to register to vote.”

Morgan Tsvangirai won 73% of the vote in the March 2008 elections and the Zanu PF vote rigging juggernaut highjacked the whole election process, results were withheld for six weeks and by then Tsvangirai’s vote had whittled down to 47%, just enough to force a run-off. The regime deployed its thugs to punish the people for having rejected the party in the March vote. Mugabe won the run-off with a staggering 84%.

The regime has since learned to carryout the vote rigging well in advance to avoid another six weeks cooking up figures and also to ensure the party victory on the first ballot, no run-off.

There are clearly some people who do not want to admit that Zanu PF has carte blanche powers to rig elections because, if they admitted that, then they will have to admit there is need to implement reforms. After 41 years of rigged elections it is insane to pretend Zanu PF has not been rigging elections; it is insane to bury one’s head in the sand.

By participating in these flawed elections Zimbabweans are giving vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy; by burying their heads in the sand and pretend mobilizing alone is enough to deliver meaningful change Zimbabweans are giving vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy. This is insane and must be exposed for what it is.

MDC leaders are participating in these flawed elections out of greed, they are after the few gravy train seats Zanu PF is offering to entice them to participate.

The MDC followers and povo are participating in these flawed elections out ignorance and/or desperation. No stone will be left unturned to educate the public of the sheer stupidity of participating in these flawed elections and to make sure these elections are declared null and void!

“Wilbert Mukori sure; then tell us what to do next, and please lead the way. And also make sure Mthwakazi's languages and cultures are protected and preserved from Shona tribal majoritarianism, so we can indeed be convinced you are different from the Gukurahundi party ZANU and its supporters. Take the bull by its horns, please. No one stops you.”

The most important task before us is to clean up our corrupted political system and for that we do not need political parties. The call for implementing the reforms before the elections hinges on boycotting the elections since the election process is so corrupt it is impossible to hold free, fair and credible elections. It would be a contradiction to be calling for a boycott in the morning and launching a political party at noon. There will be time enough to form political parties once the democratic reforms are being implemented and society is being freed up after the decades of tyranny and oppression.

Besides the task of implementing the democratic reforms will be best carried out as a national project with no partisan interests.

The primary objective of Mugabe’s Gukurahundi massacre was to create a de facto one-party state. The primary objective of implementing the raft of democratic reforms is to dismantle the Zanu PF dictatorship, restore the freedoms and rights of every citizen and create a functioning and healthy multi-party democracy – the very opposite of what Mugabe created.
