"I am used to these (coup, bomb, etc.) attempts," boast Mnangagwa - it is povo, not you, who are paying with their lives W Mukori

“President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who survived a blast at a ruling Zanu-PF party rally on Saturday, suggested he was the target of the attack which left one of his vice-presidents wounded,” reported AFP.

"I am used to these attempts," Mnangagwa said in his first comments on the explosion in the country's second city of Bulawayo.

He said an object "exploded a few inches away from me - but it is not my time".

President Mnangagwa’s reaction proves once again that he is a seasoned thug blundering from pillar to post with no clue where he is going much less where he is taking the country.

President Mnangagwa is failing to appreciate that the in the last 38 years of corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF rule have destroyed the country’s democratic institutions such as the Police, Army, ZEC, etc. hence the reason the country has completely failed to hold free and fair elections, maintain law and order, etc. Zimbabwe is now a jungle in which the only law that counts is survival of the meanest. The rich and powerful ruling elite have ridden roughshod over the ordinary people denying them their freedoms, human rights, hopes and dreams.

Amongst themselves, the rich and powerful are fighting each other like wild cats. President Mnangagwa has himself finally acknowledged that Zanu PF has been rigging elections making peaceful democratic change impossible. Indeed, last November’s military coup, which the coup plotters insisted was a “military assisted transition”, was proof there were no peaceful means to resolve leadership disputes within Zanu PF let alone at national level.

So, by stubbornly refusing to implement the democratic reforms every agreed at the onset of the 2008 GNU as necessary for free, fair and credible elections President Mnangagwa has confirmed that in post-coup Zimbabwe survival of the meanest is still the only law that rules the roost. This year’s elections are being blatantly rigged just as has happened in the past.

With the door to free and fair elections still bricked shut, those behind the Saturday bombing have as much cause to seek a “military assisted transition” as last November’s coup plotter! Zimbabwe is still a pariah state complete with the rigged elections, use of violence as the only means of achieving political change.

“I am used to these attempts!” That is all very well for you and your fellow Zanu PF thugs, you have developed thick skins and are used to all this chaos, corruption, vote rigging, violence, ice cream poisoning, military coups, bombs, etc., etc. The ordinary Zimbabweans out do not have a thick skin and they are the ones who are paying dearly for the consequences of Zimbabwe being a pariah and lawless nation.

It is the four decades of gross mismanagement and rampant corruption by this Zanu PF dictatorship that is the root cause of the country’s economic meltdown. Unemployment has soared to dizzying heights of 90%, ¾ of our people now live on US$1.00 a day, etc. This has resulted in heart-breaking human suffering and unnecessary deaths. Mr President, this tragic human suffering and loss of life cannot be allowed to continue for another day.

Mr President, your “Zimbabwe is open for business!” carrion call has failed to attract the flood of foreign investors because no investor in his/her right mind would want to do business in a country that is so volatile and unstable the regime change is only possible through military coup, street protest or some such violent means. Until we resolve our political problems, economic recovery will remain a pipe dream.

Zimbabwe must implement the democratic reforms agreed at the onset of the 2008 GNU, the only sure way to restore the power, authority and independence of the state institutions like the Police and ZEC and restore the rule of law.

President Mnangagwa you promised to hold free, fair and credible elections when you took over from Mugabe last November, you had the opportunity to implement the reforms but choice to do nothing; now you keep your promise. If these elections are not free, fair and credible, signs are they are not, then you and your junta regime must step aside to allow the appointment of an interim administration that will implement the reforms.

Zimbabwe had the golden opportunity to implement the democratic reforms during the GNU; sadly, the opportunity was wasted by Morgan Tsvangirai and his corrupt and incompetent MDC friends. Last November’s coup and now this 23 June 2018 bomb blast in Bulawayo must serve as a warning to us all that the chaos and lawlessness in Zimbabwe cannot be allowed to continue. Both these two events could have easily claimed many more injured and killed or, worse still, triggered an all-out civil war.

The international election observers, especially SADC, must act to help end this Zimbabwe political crisis by declaring these flawed and illegal elections null and void. This will force the country to revisit and, this time, make sure the reforms agreed in 2008 are implemented.

"Matongero are gamba, kutonga nepfumo. Zvaasinga zivi kuti gona ana gona wake!" (Those who live by the sword will die by the sword!) as the Shona adage would say.

Zanu PF is a party of thugs and we have seen this again and again. For the greater part of the last 38 years the thugs have turned their wanton violence and even AK47 guns on defenceless civilians, to get what their want - absolute power - with disastrous consequences. Zimbabwe has failed to hold even one free, fair and credible election in 38 years because the electorate has been cowed into voting for Zanu PF for their vote was vetoed.

To establish and retain the de facto one party dictatorship, Zanu PF has murdered over 30 000 innocent civilians in its 38 years reign of terror. A hell lot more innocent people have suffered and died unnecessarily because the country's economy has collapsed and so has its basic services such as health, supply of clean water, etc. Of course, povo are dying like flies and these Zanu PF thugs do not even care.

The thugs have again and again turned on each other. It is one thing for Mnangagwa to boast that there have been many attempts to kill him but what he will not tell the nation is how many murderous plots he himself carried out!

The choice to wage a war to end white colonial rule was not one this nation should have never taken lightly. Yes the liberation war accelerated the removal of the white colonialist but at the price of giving the AK 47 guns in the hands of ruthless thugs. As we can now see, we remove the white oppressors but only to replace them with corrupt, incompetent and murderous thugs who have ended up to be even worse than the white colonialist.

The people of Zimbabwe will never taste freedom, liberty, justice and economic prosperity as long as we have thugs who claim their have the divine right to rule the country. The bomb was a timely reminder to Mnangagwa and his junta that they are not the only thugs in Zimbabwe. It was also a timely reminder to the populous that Mnangagwa and his junta are thugs!

You are right that ZEC officials are corrupt and they are doing their bit to help Zanu PF rig these elections. The common mistake many people are making is to think that the opposition can still win rigged elections. What they have failed to understand is that Zanu PF want them to take part in the elections only to give the process some credibility. The day after voting day, it will finally dawn on these people that there was no way the opposition was ever going to win. They will complain of Zanu PF stealing the elections but no one will listen because everyone with eyes saw this coming!

  3. Zanu PF is a party of murderous thugs and if President Mnangagwa and his coup plotter think they are the only thugs in the country then this is a wake-up call. Mnangagwa and company prevailed in the November coup but that was a major battle in a war that will go on and on as long as there are more than one thug left standing.

I agree, it is not likely that the bomb was the work of the MDC or any one of their partners. This is the work of disgruntled Zanu PF members!

  4. At least 42 people are reportedly injured 6 of them seriously in President Emerson Mnangagwa's assassination attempt at White City Stadium in Bulawayo this afternoon.

The explosion, which occurred just after 2 pm when President Mnangagwa had finished giving his keynote address at a rally attended by hundreds of Zanu Pf supporters also injured Vice President Kembo Mohadi, Zanu Pf National Chairperson Oppah Muchinguri, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Mabrl Chinomona and Mary Chiwenga, wife to Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.

Change is something that no one can avoid, it is part and parcel of the natural world of us mortals. The choice is either have peaceful evolutionary change and those who try to resist change have, per se, opted for the violent revolutionary change. After 37 years of rigging party and national elections to stay in power, Robert Mugabe must have thought he was resisting change and winning until the 15 November 2017 when he was awakened by the rough probing of an AK 47.

It is no secret that President Mnangagwa and his junta are rigging these elections. They booted Mugabe out of office and now someone else is trying to boot them out.

Zimbabwe is in this economic and political mess because we have failed to come up with a political system that allows orderly evolutionary change and until we address this problem the nation will never get out of this hell-hole! Never ever!

Zimbabwe has been ruled by thugs for the last 38 years, they have concentrated most of their murderous tendencies on the defenceless civilians until now. The thugs are now turning on each other and dragging Zanu PF into the gutter and, worse still, they are dragging the whole nation with them.

We should have never allowed Zanu PF to rig elections and enjoy absolute power for all these years. The only way out of this hell is for the nation to finally put its foot down, demand the full restoration of individual freedoms and rights including the right to free and fair elections. These elections are a waste of time and should be declared null and void without further udo.

  6. We have allowed Zanu PF thugs to enjoy absolute power and now they are punch drunk on it they are fighting each other like hyenas fighting for scraps. We the people should have never allowed these thugs to rig elections and enjoy absolute power, they have completely destroyed the country and still they believe they are the only ones fit to govern.

Zanu PF thugs have rigged elections in the past and got away with it, they are set to do the same this year and we will be insane to allow them to get away with it! These elections must be declared null and void, period!

How naive! ED is a thug and he is the one has held the AK 47 and has played his part in the murder of the 20 000 during Gukurahundi and over 10 000 more thereafter. Last November he stage a military coup against his old boss, Robert Mugabe. What ED must accept is that he is not the only thug in the country as yesterday's bomb clearly shows.

ED has a thick skin and is boasting of this himself what should concern any thinking Zimbabwean out there is not the safety of a thug with the thick skin of a crocodile but the defenceless civilians caught up in this senseless dog-eat-dog amongst the thugs!

"Yes ED may not be your favourite but to wish him dead is unbearable my brother," you say.

If ED was to be booted out of office in a coup or worse still killed then he would only have himself to blame for it for having chosen the life of a lawless thug. The real victims of Zimbabwe's dictatorship are the ordinary Zimbabweans out there. Your heart goes out to ED because one of his fellow thug is repaying him with the coin he has dished out to others without a care in the world but you are indifferent to his many victims. What a fool and tyrants love fools like you!

Why is it that your heart in bleeding for ED because someone tried to kill him but you have never raised a finger of concern over the over 30 000 Mnangagwa and the other Zanu PF thugs have murdered in cold blood in the last 38 years.

Mnangagwa stage a coup 8 months ago to ouster his fellow Zanu PF thugs from power he has beaten some and killed a few. You have said nothing. The thugs are hitting back and you are shedding rivers of crocodile tears! Mnangagwa is a thug and the dog-eat-dog fighting going on has nothing to do with us ordinary civilians other than that we are being dragged into the abyss with the thugs!

You care about these Zanu PF thugs more than you care about their victims. ED is a corrupt, vote rigging and murderous thug if your heart was in the right place then you too would know that it is the ordinary Zimbabweans, the ones dying like flies, who deserve our sympathy and to ED!

  9. @ Alfred

It is not Mukori or anyone else other than the Zanu PF thugs themselves who have brought upon themselves this dog-eat-dog fight amongst themselves. How typical Zanu PF mentality to always look for scapegoats for their own faults.

It was not Mukori "wishing other people dead" who planted the yesterday's bomb just as much as it was not his wishful thinking that forced Mnangagwa and his junta to stage last November's coup! What Mukori is saying is whilst these Zanu PF elephant bulls are fighting it is the grass, the ordinary people dying like flies who are paying dearly for it all.

Zanu PF has always had a whole army of spin-doctors, apologists, etc. to misinform and brainwash the public so the regime's wrong doing is swept under the carpet. What has been shocking is that so many of the spin-doctors, apologists, etc. are blacks and they have done Zanu PF's bidding even when the victims of Zanu PF's misrule were their own kith and kin. The heartless indifference of blacks to the suffering and deaths of fellow blacks is our worse curse.

During the slave trade it was not the whites who hunted down the blacks and sold them to the slave-traders; it was blacks! When slavery was abolished many blacks were heart-broken because they could not sell their kith and kin for a piece of calico cloth and a fist of beads! Heart-broken!

Times have changed but we still have many still queuing to sell-out the lives of fellow blacks to the new slave-traders, the corrupt, vote rigging and murderous black ruling elite! So, Alfred, how much is Zanu PF paying you?

  10. How many cold blooded murders has he carried out.

He has murdered his fellow Zanu PF thugs in the fight for power and no one with half a brain should be surprised that the other thugs have tried to kill him too. Why are you obsessed about his safety but have said nothing about the innocent victims of his thuggery?

  11. @ Mbandaka bolomba

Well, well. Zanu PF spin-doctors, apologists and propagandists are out in full force. They are all out to condemn those behind the bombing and Mukori has earned their wreath by suggesting the bomb plotters are thugs just as those behind last November's coup were thugs. Indeed, those behind yesterday's bomb are replying to Mnangagwa and his junta's coup.

"Mr Mukori why are you so bad, so evil, do you incite hatred, why are you divisive, you are even comfortable to campaign over injured bodies, insult another man, another father, another human being for escaping death by a whisker. Are you not one of the conspirators or plotters," frothed Mbandaka.

Mbandaka and the other Zanu PF paid agents are shameless sell-outs they are crying rivers of crocodile tears over the victims of the bomb but have never ever shown any concern over the over 30 000 innocent Zimbabweans murdered in cold blood by these Zanu PF thugs.

By refusing to implement the democratic reforms so we can restore the rule of law and have peaceful democratic change ED is dragging the nation deeper and deeper into the cycle of violence, coup, bombs, etc. This is what Mukori is criticising and demanding to see changed. Why should he care if Zanu PF thugs kill each other, particularly when he is as much the victim of the dictatorship as the rest of us!

To accuse someone calling for the dismantling the Zanu PF dictatorship of planting yesterday's bomb only goes to show of how sick and desperate the regime is becoming.

  12. Zanu PF is a party of ruthless thugs. For the best part of the last 38 years the thugs have been terrorising the ordinary people, denying them their freedoms and human rights including the right to free and fair elections and even the right to life. The regime has murdered over 30 000 innocent Zimbabweans in it drive to create and retain the de facto one-party dictatorship.

Zanu PF thugs have always fought amongst themselves but the last five years the dog-eat-dog fighting has gone into overdrive. Last November's military coup saw Mugabe and many others being booted out of the party. If Mnangagwa and his coup junta thought they had vanquished their opponents in November, yesterday's bomb was a wake-up call, the dog-eat-dog is not over!

The real tragedy here is that the ordinary people are being dragged into the abyss by these Zanu PF thugs. The only way the nation can stop these Zanu PF thugs dragging the nation into the abyss is by insisting that these elections must be declared null and void if Zanu PF fails to keep its promise to make sure the elections are free, fair and credible.

    ReplyDelete
  13. If the truth be told, neither Robert Mugabe nor Emerson Mnangagwa will ever admit that it is their autocratic rule that is the root cause of the last November's coup and yesterday's bomb attempt. Like all self-righteous tyrants, they will never admit to doing anything wrong muchless to being corrupt, vote rigging and murderous tyrants.

Zimbabwe's economic meltdown, the growing poverty, last November's coup and now the bomb these are all warning shots of the dangerous route the country has been travelling. The longer we allow this circus to continue the deeper and deeper the nation is going to sink into this cesspit and the harder and harder it is going to be to get out.

Zimbabwe's only realistic chance out of this mess is for the country to have these flawed and illegal elections declared null and void and the country forced to go back and implement the 2008 democratic reforms. There is no other peaceful way out. What is more, this could be our last chance to do the right thing and get out of this mess, hell may well break loss tomorrow!
