MP Cross quitting politics - before you go, help us get out of this hell-hole, admit MDC sold-out W Mukori

MDC-T Member of Parliament for Bulawayo South, Eddie Cross, said he was quitting active politics to make way for the young blood.

Before you ride into the sun set, MP Cross, are you going to admit and apologise for you and your fellow MDC leaders’ betrayal of this nation by selling-out on reforms during the GNU?

The GNU offered the best opportunity since independence for the nation to dismantle the Zanu PF dictatorship once and once for all and you MDC lot wasted it! The primary purpose of the GNU was to implement a raft of democratic reforms designed to stop a repeat of the blatant cheating and wanton violence of the 2008 elections. MDC had five years to implement the reforms but failed to get even one reform implemented. Not even one! Why?

There is no doubt that MDC has some of the most incompetent individuals ever. Former USA Ambassador to Zimbabwe 2004 to 2007, Chris Dell, said Tsvangirai “was a flawed and indecisive character” and that was after the guy only a handful of times. The fact that there are many MDC leaders and worse the mindless wildebeest herd of the membership who continued to follow the idiot even after his countless blundering during the GNU speaks volumes of just foolish the followers are.

It is no secret that the overwhelming majority of the MDC leaders have no clue, even to this day with the benefit of hindsight, what the GNU was about.

SADC leaders tried their best to remind MDC leaders that they must implement the reforms, but their words fell on deaf ears. MDC leaders were like cockroaches in a milk-trap. Robert Mugabe entrapped the MDC leaders with the ministerial limos, generous salaries, $4 million mansion for Tsvangirai, etc., etc. The MDC leaders were gorging themselves on the gravy train trappings, they knew Mugabe did not want his dictatorship dismantled and they obliged by kicking reforms into the prickly pear thicket.

Of course, MDC leaders sold-out and leaders like MP Eddie Cross must come out clean and admit that and apologise to the nation.

"I am not going to contest in this year's elections and I am handing over my constituency which I had been the MP for 10 years to a young and vibrant candidate who is going to be chosen by the party," Cross told a national state controlled commercial radio station during a debate Monday night.

"I believe in succession politics and after 10 years leadership has to change and nothing new could anyone bring after serving for 10 years."

No doubt, MP Cross, you and your fellow MDC leaders must have considered yourselves “young and vibrant” 20 years ago, when MDC was launched, but clearly that did not stop you blundering from pillar to post and, much worse, sell-out during the GNU.

The last 38 years have been a total disaster for Zimbabwe.  The nation has fallen from its high perch of being the bread basket of the region to one starving in the Garden of Eden to become the poorest nation in Africa. ¾ of our people today live on US$1.00 or less a day! The very least we can do now is learn from our mistake and answer the question, where did we fall off the track, honestly.

How will it benefit Zimbabwe if a young and vibrant MDC leader taking over from MP Cross takes the nation even deeper into this hell-on-earth our corrupt and incompetent leaders have landed us into these last 38 years?

Getting people like MP Cross to admit they sold-out is a good starting point in making sure we learn from our past mistakes. What this nation is dying for is not just change but, more specifically, change for the better and that comes with a price tag – learn from the past.

You are such an empty drum, you always talking nonsense, making noise, all the time. Eddie Cross and his MDC friends were young and vibrant 20 years ago but that did not stop them blundering from pillar to post.

Mugabe, at 84, outwitted the whole MDC leadership stopping them implementing even one democratic reform in five years!

Why are you obsessed about the immaterial and subjective issue like age, sex, tribe, physical looks, etc. There are very clever 20 year olds out there just as there are 20 year old morons out there. By the same token, there are very clever 80 year olds out there just as there are 80 year old morons! You only focus on age because you are incapable of focusing of the substantive issues that distinguish the clever from the moron - ideas!

  2. Social media is abuzz with mixed reactions on President Emmerson Mnangagwa's stance that his pay-cheque should be deposited in his bank account instead of being handed to him in hard currency.

He is just being penny-wise but pound foolish! How much cash has he wasted on himself and his entourage in expenses and allowances on all this globe-trotting alone, for example? He has been in office for three months and has already clocked more air-miles than Germany's Angela Merkel done in a whole year. And has he accomplished? Nothing.

What is the point of flying to every country in SADC to tell the leaders you are going to hold free, fair and credible elections when you are doing nothing to implement the reforms to make this happen? Indeed, he even has chutzpah to dismiss those calling for reforms as barking dogs!

Foreign investors are a very shrewd and smart lot, not given to being bamboozled by empty rhetoric, they have continued to shy away from investing in Zimbabwe because they can see Zimbabwe is not going to hold free, fair and credible elections this year or in future - not without implementing the reforms.

Zimbabwe's economic meltdown, including the cash shortage problems, is not going away until we real political change. If Zimbabwe's economy was healthy and vibrant, why would anyone want their monthly salary paid in cash when they know they are not going to spend it all in a day!

President Mnangagwa has failed to revive the economy and hence the reason the regime is resisting all calls for reforms because it is determined to rig the elections to hold on to power. The Social media should abuzz with demands for free, fair and credible elections, Zimbabwe is not going to get out of this hell-hole until we resolve this problem of rigging elections!

Why are you limiting your choices to either the corrupt Mnangagwa or the naive and incompetent Chamisa?

You can vote for Chamisa but since the elections are being rigged, it is clear you cannot get this simple political reality into your thick head, Zanu PF will just veto your vote!

SADC leaders have already said we should not take part in flawed elections and instead demand that the reforms must be implemented BEFORE the elections. This course of action will force reforms and allow more competent people to emerge as leaders and thus giving the voters real choice of candidates.

You trouble is lack of imagination! Your pea-size brain cannot think there can be other people out there who can lead Zimbabwe other than the rubbish on the political stage right now!

"So, Chamisa has my vote!" Yeah right! What good has that been to you or the nation? It is insane to keep contesting flawed elections you know are being rig!

Forget the bullet trains, Chamisa must first win the rigged elections and he has failed to do so far. Zimbabwe is stuck with Zanu PF because the party is able to rig elections and unless we implement the reforms to stop the rigging there is no point in wasting time on what MDC will do if they get into power when we know that will never happen!

Chamisa has completely failed to come up with a solution on the immediate problem of how to end the Zanu PF dictatorship. Indeed, when MDC had the golden opportunity to implement the democratic reforms to end the dictatorship during the GNU Chamisa was one of the senior MDC leaders who wasted this chance. MDC failed to get even one reform implemented.

Zimbabwe is stuck in this hell-on-earth political and economic mess and we are not getting out until we implement the reforms designed to stop Zanu PF rigging elections. Instead of concentrating on the problem on hand Chamisa is wittering about bullet trains. No wonder MDC failed to implement even one reform during the GNU, with such leaders as Tsvangirai and Chamisa as leaders who have no clue what is the big issues facing the nation are, the nation will be blundering from pillar to post!

"I'm a dreamer. I'm not ashamed of being a dreamer. Dreams bring us up. They give us vision. They keep us yearning, they keep us ambi," you say

"My childhood in Zimbabwe, however, was far from a dream. This blessed land, sometimes felt more like a curse. We struggled for food, we struggled for water. Yet, in our village we battled along. There were always more smiles than frowns. More positive comments than complaints. We are a tough nation. A positive people."

We hear you and all that is all very well, and yet that has not stopped Zimbabwe sinking into the political and economic mess the country is in! With the country is such an economic mess that 90% are unemployed, ¾ are living on US$1.00 or less a day, etc. one would this people like you would accept that it is time for a serious reappraisal of ourselves and stopping this "We are a tough nation. A positive people!" bulls***t!

"In November 2017, my dreams began to become a reality. While ED is not perfect, he took one small step for him, which became a giant leap for the people of Zimbabwe," you continue.

"Within a few months, we are already on the map. While cash is still an issue; the wheels are in motion. Billions of dollars of investment are on the table. World leaders are queuing up to come and visit. Our hotels are full (I work in the hospitality sector!). Our airports are busy. Our president is even calling for peace and unity in the New York Times.

"I choose to give him five years to make my dreams come true. I choose to give him five years to create those jobs. And most importantly I choose to give him five years to complete this new journey of transformation for our new Zimbabwe."

All you have done is regagitate the same irrational nonsense that have landed Zimbabwe in this mess in the first place.

Yes, President Mnangagwa has promised free, fair and credible elections but how many democratic reforms has he implemented to make this possible? Not even one!

Zimbabwe is in this economic mess because for the last 38 years the nation has been stuck with a corrupt and incompetent regime that rigged elections to stay in power regardless of the people's democratic wishes. Mnangagwa was Mugabe's pointer man when it comes to rigging the elections and he is clearly determined to do the same this year.

Mnangagwa does not need your vote or anyone else's vote for that matter; with not even one reform in place Zanu PF will rig the elections just as easily as it has done so in the past.

Much as you wish it was otherwise, the November 2017 coup was about replacing one dictator, Mugabe, with another, Mnangagwa. The Zanu PF dictatorship is alive and thriving.

If your Hotel is full of visitors now, it will not be once it is clear Zanu PF has rigged the elections. Foreign investors do not do business in a pariah state.

Zimbabwe's economic recovery is dependent on real, not imagined, political change. You need to wake up and smell the coffee; Mnangagwa is a ruthless, vote rigging and murderous thug, the November coup confirmed that.

As long as ED is allowed to hold elections with no reform, he does not need your vote because he has the veto!

  6. The fact that Zimbabwe is in this political paralysis and economic mess because MDC failed to implement the democratic reforms during the GNU is something that millions of Zimbabwean out there have failed to grasp. MDC leaders have taken fully advantage of this and have all these years pretended they did nothing wrong. This is such a serious matter, it will be criminal to let the MDC leaders walk scot free. They must be held to public account.

MDC leaders sold-out on reforms and they admit it and apologise.

There ordinary people also need learn that MDC sold-out and that it was their fault in failing to elect competent leaders and then allowing them to sell-out with such disastrous consequences. If the people want a competent government then they have to do a lot better than electing deadwood like Eddie Cross. 20 years ago, he was young and vibrant but good was that to the nation when it turns out he was clueless what the reforms he was elected to implement were about!

Nonsense, you have been eating, drinking, breathing, etc., etc. everyday since the day you were born why have not stopped doing so? I will tell you, why; because that is the stuff of life. We need to talk about implementing the democratic reforms because holding elections without doing something to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections is foolish.

We are still talking about the need to implement the reforms because MDC failed to implement them during the GNU and that is why what happened during the GNU keeps coming up.

When MDC leaders like Chamisa are talking about the MDC government buying bullet, forgetting he still has to win the rigged elections it is clear these MDC idiots still have no clue what the GNU was about! Thank God, we have some people who still have their feet on the ground and their eyes fixed on the real issues affecting the nation. It is a great pity that all the MDC leaders had their heads in cloud-cuckooland during the GNU no wonder not even one reform was implemented in five years.

With unemployment sitting at 90%, basic services such as health and education all but collapse, etc. it is clear Zimbabwe is in serious trouble. The nation cannot afford cloud cuckooland leaders wittering about bullet trains when the elections are being rigged right under their big noses! If reforms are irrelevant then please tell us how MDC is going to stop vote rigging!!!!

  8. @ Chiremba
You have never understood the process of how the reforms were going to be implemented during the GNU, otherwise you would never say "Mugabe was a despot who would not listen to MDC, SADC or the international community on the implementation of reforms".

The first step in implementing the reforms was for one of the MPs to table proposed reforms, say of the structure and operation of the ZRP. Parliament would then debate the proposal, fine tune it and then pass the proposal to Mugabe as State President, to sign-off. There was not even one reform proposal submitted in parliament in the five years of the GNU. How can Mugabe be accused of rejecting proposals when not even one was submitted before him.

Chamisa does not need to tell the SADC delegates that there have been no reforms implemented since the last elections, they know that. What Chamisa must explain to the delegates and the nation at large is why MDC is contesting the elections knowing the process is flawed and illegal? MDC passed the "No reform, no election!" resolution; why is the party disregarding its own resolution?
MDC is responsible for all the Zanu PF vote rigging and political violence in that the party had the golden opportunity to implement the reforms to stop the rigging and violence during the GNU but failed to do so because they sold-out. The MDC had a chance to stop contesting the flawed elections but would not do so because of greed. MDC politicians know the elections will be rigged but that Zanu PF will give away a few gravy train seats and these are what Chamisa and company are after.
Blaming Wilbert for the vote rigging and violence is just a foolish nonsense from a stupid fool!

Zimbabwe is independent today because of Robert Mugabe and his Zanu PF freedom fighters. However, being a liberation hero did not stop Mugabe become a corrupt and murderous tyrant!

By the same token, Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends showed great courage to face Mugabe's thugs but so too did the ordinary people who risked life and limb to vote for MDC leaders.

It is a historic fact that MDC leaders were elected on the promise they would deliver democratic changes, as their own party name suggests. Once in power, they had the golden opportunity to deliver on their promise by implementing the democratic reforms. They failed to get even one reform implemented in five years of the GNU, Not one!

People like you cannot bear to hear the truth said about MDC leaders being selling-outs, just as Mugabe and Mnangagwa supporters cannot bear hearing that these a corrupt and murderous tyrants because you all have your heads buried in your leaders' back sides. Historic facts are not going to be changed to suit fools like you. And, most important of all, Zimbabwe needs to get out of the hell-on-earth we find ourselves in right now and we are not going to do so by listen to dimwits whose brains are starved of oxygen and are barely functioning.

How can a whole political party of over 100 MPs, plus ministers, two Deputy PM and a PM fail to get even one reform implemented in five years? And we are told they are "wonderful men and women"! Only someone who is brain-dead would say such nonsense!

  10. Much as people hated the dictator Robert Mugabe they also hated everything the de facto one-party, Zanu PF, dictatorship was doing. The mistake some people have made in the euphoria of last November's coup was to be fooled by Mnangagwa and the Junta into believing the demise of Mugabe was also the demise of the dictatorship. Mnangagwa and the Junta who stage the coup were key players in the dictatorship and when they called the coup "Operation Restore Legacy" they meant "Operation Restore Zanu PF dictatorship"!

One of the most important features of the dictatorship is its carte blanche power to rig elections. Mnangagwa and the coup posse have been very careful to ensure these powers were retained and carried through into the new dispensation era untouched. Mnangagwa is using these powers to rig the coming elections and Mugabe and Jonathan Moyo are the two men who can stop them by exposing the details of how the elections were rigged.

People need to look at the bigger picture and not let their hatred of Mugabe cloud their judgement. Mugabe is doing the nation a great favour for once in his life! We want the dictatorship dismantled and not just have one dictator remove but only for him to be replaced with another - that is the big picture!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Mugabe and Jonathan Moyo are the two individuals who know exactly how Mnangagwa is rigging the coming elections because they have been key member of the vote rigging cabal. Here is the two gentlemen's chance to destroy the Lacoste faction and they are not the type to mess things up!

  12. “There will be no delaying of an election. There will be reforms. It is either reforms or there will be no election. That is our position and we are prepared to surrender ourselves before we surrender our victory,” said Nelson Chamisa.
“This thing of nichodemously printing ballot papers through Nikuv or any other group, Chinese, Israeli or any other, we will not accept. And when we say that we will not accept it doesn’t mean that we will boycott an election, we will simply make sure that there is no election without reforms.”
Yes, the pompous one! You have made you position as clear as mud! There will be reforms or no elections but MDC will not boycott elections if there are no reforms!
You and your MDC friends had the golden opportunity to have the democratic reforms necessary for free, fair and credible elections implemented during the GNU and you wasted that opportunity. If Mnangagwa is going to be forced to implement any reforms it will be because he fears the Mugabe or/and Jonathan Moyo will expose the details of how he rigged the elections. So, you should just shut up!
Chamisa just go back to talking about bullet trains you have zipping about in your cloud cuckoo-land! We hear your bullet trains are faster than the bullet fired from an AK47 rifle! There we are, now go back to your trains. There we are! (He is not just corrupt and incompetent but pompous too!)
