In trying to "baby dump" Mnangagwa Grace Mugabe will be crashed like a bug. Wilbert Mukori

Grace Mugabe tells VP Mnangagwa he is only an appointee serving at Mugabe’s pleasure and therefore can be fired at the drop of a hat. She too is any appointee but one Mugabe cannot easily fire.

"If we (the political appointees) go wrong, you (President) can remove us from our positions anytime you like," said Grace.

"But inini chimwe chigaro chandiinacho cheudzimai hwenyu chinonetsa kubhisa. Tinenge takuenda kutoenda kumacourt. Mukada kundiramba tinenge takuenda kucourt ndakatsika madziro (But I, as someone who also occupies another position as your wife, it is difficult to remove me. If you dare try to divorce me, you are in for a bruising fight in the courts)."

Mai, oh mai! Grace is really going straight for the jugular vein. She wants Mnangagwa fired just as she wanted Mujuru fired.

In 2014 Grace Mugabe wanted the then VP Joice Mujuru “baby dumped” so badly she literally went berserk. Her accusations against Mujuru were both hysterical and outrageous. Mai Mujuru was accused of being lazy, incompetent and corruption.  Who in Zanu PF is not corrupt? As for her being incompetent; was that not the reason why Robert Mugabe appointed her VP just as he has with VP Simon Muzenda and many others? Mugabe has surrounded himself with the most incompetent individuals he could get because they are the least likely to challenge him for the top job.

Compared to Muzenda, Mujuru and the rest of his “vakadzi vaMugabe” (Mugabe’s subservient concubines) cabinet members, as Margaret Dongo called them, Mugabe has always appeared the genius per excellence!

Grace accused Mujuru of “factionalism” and plotting to assassinate Mugabe and become president. “Factionalism” was a nonsense charge. Zanu PF was going to hold an elective congress in December 2014 and Mai Mujuru had managed to get 8 out of 10 party provinces to back her bid for VP post. Emerson Mnangagwa, who was interested in the same post, got the backing of the remaining two provinces. How else was she supposed to canvass for support? And why should she be guilty of “factionalism” and yet her challenger who has done the same thing is not?

As for the assassination plot, the charge disappeared with no one ever questioned or arrested as soon as Mai Mujuru and her supporters were booted out of the party and government.

Grace Mugabe made no secret of the fact she was interested in succeeding her husband as president. If Mai Mujuru had been elected VP at the congress, she would have been in line to be president after Mugabe – that is why Mujuru had to be baby dumped.

It was not possible for Grace to get herself name in the hat for any of the two VP posts going. The next best thing she did was to make sure the two posts were filled by appointment and not by an elective process, hence the reason Grace is calling VP Mnangagwa an “appointee”.

Since the ouster of Joice Mujuru, Grace Mugabe (with the covert support of her husband) has been trying to build up her own support base, G40 faction, with the view of challenging Mnangagwa as Mugabe’s successor. The G40 faction has failed to get much traction in the party, other than women’s and youth leagues (they make a lot of noise but wield little power and influence) and in other key national organs such as war veterans and the security services.

It is doubtful whether the G40 faction would ever add up to much even if Grace Mugabe was given more time to build it. The truth is with Mugabe’s health failing and next year’s elections coming up, etc. Grace had no choice but to make her bid to succeed her husband now or be overtaken by events. She has clearly decided to go for it and, as we can see, is going straight for the jugular vein!

Grace Mugabe has enjoyed her highflyer, palace and Gucci shoes lifestyle for decades and the thought of giving all that up has her fired up like a bombardier beetle. Whilst the beetle’s hot caustic fumes are too much for even a starving frog; the insect would be unwise to count pulling off the same trick on the crocodile – those jaws will snap shut so fast, the bug will be crash before it can load, aim and fire!

“Baby dumping” a frog was one thing, a crocodile ….. I do not think so!

Grace Mugabe managed to get Joice Mujuru baby dumped is just four months. She has been trying to do the same with Emerson Mnangagwa for the last four years now and she is finding the task a lot tougher. She has is going for the jugular vein but may find herself being crashed like a bug.

For Zanu PF to remain in power the party will have no choice but to once again rig next year’s election the vote. If Grace got her wish and Mugabe baby dumped Mnangagwa; rigging the election in which Tsvangirai or Mujuru are the opponent is ease, not so with Mnangagwa because he, unlike the other two, KNOWS how past elections were rigged! He and a number of his supporters master-minded and/or executed the vote rigging schemes.

To win next year’s elections against Mnangagwa, Mugabe will have to walk a tight rope spanning 100m, a hundred storeys high, with no safety net. To really spice up the act, Mutsvangwa and his rogue war veterans and General Chiwenga and the other security sector chefs (they are all in the Mnangagwa camp, it is too late for them to switch allegiance and their goose is cooked if G40 faction prevail) will be peppering the tyrant with stones and other missiles. And it will be none other than Mnangagwa himself hacking away at the rope with as if his very life depends (which it will probably do) on him cutting the rope in less than 8 seconds (not even Usain Bolt ran 100m is that time)!

Even if Mugabe and his wife were able to outfox Mnangagwa and his supporters just the tyrant has outfoxed him in the past; Zanu PF will not be out of the woods yet.

SADC leaders have watched with alarm how Zanu PF has failed to revive the Zimbabwe economy after rigging the July 2013 elections. They know another rigged election will send the Zimbabwe economy into even deeper economic trouble threatening the political stability of not just Zimbabwe but the whole region. They will be watching the elections like a hawk and will not hesitate condemning the results, just as they did after the 2008 elections.

President Mugabe’s reign was doomed to end in failure the end the tyrant decided to turn Zimbabwe into a de facto one-party cum one-man dictatorship. It is ironic that his fate was hastened by the insatiable greed for power, wealth and influence of his wife Grace! In her reckless pursuit of power she took on Emerson Mnangagwa – he is not nicknamed crocodile for his good looks alone and she is nothing but a bug!

  2. The Zanu PF factional wars are real alright. The country’s worsening economic situation means there is not enough loot to satisfy all members of Zanu PF’s bloated ruling elite. Anyone who gets booted out of the party faces poverty; look at the late Nathan Shamuyarira, he died a pauper.

Mai Mujuru and her supporters were booted out three years ago and already many, like Mutasa, are as poor as a church mouse already. Mutasa has aged more in the last three years than he did 20 years before 2014; stress and debts are weighing down like Atlas carrying the world!

Still Zanu PF factional fight is like two cobras fighting; they wrestle and not bite. It is they mutual understanding that biting is out of the question because they both fear mutual annulation. If one was to strike it is pretty-sure, before it can get away, the other would have retaliated!

Let us just say that Mai Mujuru was knocked out cold at the blink of an eye. The count to three was just a formality. Mnangagwa and his war veterans and security chiefs are a totally different proposition as we can see. The old man is clearly struggling to know the Lacoste faction out. The G40 needs a KO fast because they know if President Mugabe is eliminated in any way it is game over for the G40 faction.

  3. If Morgan Tsvangirai was "smart" then why did he fail to implement the reforms designed ti stop Zanu PF rigging elections. MDC is contesting next year's election knowing Zanu PF will once again rig the vote; what is so smart about that? That is madness and only a blind MDC supporter would call madness "smart"!

  4. Zanu PF infighting is like two cobras fighting; they do not bite they wrestle each other. The stakes are really high now and with neither backing down this is getting to the point where each one must know it is all or nothing - kill or be killed! The two are flashing their fungs at each other, this is not a display signal.

Whichever faction wins the day here will be in no mood to let the opposition win the election and walk away with the crown, of that we can be certain. After all this fightin, if Zanu PF should be in any doubt of its vote rigging schemes delivering victory, the party will us violence, the cobra will strike just as it did in 2008.

    1. Mugabe and his Zanu PF thugs have betrayed the ordinary people of Zimbabwe turning their dreams and hopes of freedom, liberty and economic prosperity into a nightmare. They have riden roughshod over the people to gratify their insatiable greed for power and wealth.

Whilst the Zanu PF thugs, the cobras, have wrestling each other; they have not shown any such tolerance to the people. They have bitten povo without being threatened and with no warning. They have imposed themselves on the people and have ruled with an iron fist.

Which Zanu PF faction prevails is no consequence to the nation what matters here is the dictatorship must be dismantle and a healthy and functional democracy built in its place. We would be very foolish indeed if we failed to dislodge the regime this time round.

All we need to do to dismantle the regime is insist on the implementation of all the democratic reforms to ensure free, fair and credible elections BEFORE the next election. If the regime disregards our demands then we must make it very clear the elections are a sham and campaign to make sure the international community refuse to recognise the regime as legitimate.

SADC leaders called on the opposition to boycott the 2013 elections because they, of all people – they were the guarantor of the GPA and supervised the GNU -, they knew that without the reforms Zanu PF was going to rig the vote.

“Of course they (the elections) can be postponed.  In 2013 the Maputo Summit, in June 2013, before the elections, the Maputo Summit was all about having the elections postponed – the SADC summit. I went there,” Dr Ibbo Mandaza explained in a recent interview.

“I was there at the Summit and Mugabe pretended to agree to a postponement of the elections. If you recall, the postponement was based on the need to reform at least electoral laws, and after that Summit, Morgan Tsvangirai, Tendai Biti, Welshman Ncube, all of them were called to a separate meeting by the Heads of State of SADC in the absence of Mugabe, that same evening. And they were told; I was sitting there outside the room with Mac Maharaj; they were told ‘if you go into elections next month, you are going to lose; the elections are done’.”

So, SADC leaders predicted with uncanny accuracy that Zanu PF had rigged the 2013 election at least one month before the voting happened. Zanu PF is playing the same dirty tricks again and one can foretell the regime’s next move with such precision one can say with certainty that the opposition is going to lose next year’s election ONE YEAR ahead of the vote.

It is madness to contest an election one has been forewarned and can see with their own eyes is so flawed it is impossible for the opposition to win it.

We should lose sleep over anyone inflicting pain on another human being because that is what makes us humans as distinct from the half human tyrant. Indeed, it is in our own interest that we lose sleep over such matters because tomorrow we may be the tyrant's victim and the world return the favour and pretend not to notice!

When these Zanu PF thugs unleashed their reign of terror they thought themselves untouchable and their evil deeds will never come to light. It is only now that, even with all the effort they took to bury it, the truth is now being uncovered. In this case, it is none other than a follow thug who is spilling the beans.

I agree, we need the matter properly investigated and the evidence tested in a court of law. Majonga is in a wheelchair but very much alive; he can tell us what happened. Professor Moyo can give another video presentation but to the judge, lawyers and witnesses and not the politburo. Mnangagwa will be given another chance to dismissed Moyo's evidence but after he has sworn to tell the truth!

So far, we have had to go by is hearsay because the regime would not let the truth be known. With regime change, it will all be a totally different ball-game.

"Hauyeri nyoka negavi iyo iripo!" (You do not estimate the length of a snake when you can measure it!) With regime change, we will establish the truth about Majonga and all the other many crimes if the regime!

“You appear very naive. elections are rigged before voting day. From voter registration to constituency delimitation. How is SADC going to control that. You are living in cloud cuckooland. This election is already lost. The opposition knows it,” you said.

You are 100% right, the vote rigging is all but done and dusted. Zanu PF has dragged its feet over the decision to buy the biometric voter registration (BVR) kit, who to award the contract to buy the kit and we now have less than a year to voting and the voter registration has not even started, at least officially. The regime is doing all this for a reason; it wants to rash through the process so no one will have the chance to check what it is doing. We have seen the regime do this before and it works!

Where you are wrong is to think that SADC would not “control any of this vote rigging”. SADC do not need to control any of it, they know it is taking place and that is all they need to know. Just as SADC leaders knew Zanu PF was going to rig the 2013 elections in June, a month before the elections, they know it already for next year’s election.

SADC leaders allowed President Mugabe to get away with rigging the July 2013 elections because they were angry with MDC leaders for ignoring their warning. The regional leaders will not let Zanu PF get away with rigging yet another election because they know this time they will be punishing innocent people and the whole region.

Zanu PF is one of those party is which promotion has absolutely nothing to do with the individual’s ability as you are proving in this article. You are telling use Grace Mugabe would not be leading the women’s league if she was “no brainer”.

“She cannot be Secretary of Women’s League if she was a “no brainer” as many are made to believe. In 2014 we saw Dr Amai’s entry into Politics those who thought they were simply going to use her for their agenda am sure were not prepared by her ascending on the throne as the Women’s League Secretary,” you argue.

And yet you clearly have no respect Mnangagwa whom you have called a coward who is not fit to be the next president. He is clearly “no brainer” and yet he has held even more senior positions in the party and government than Grace Mugabe!?

Putting your Zanu PF factional war to one side; what is clear is that Zanu PF is full of individuals with nothing to offer the country. It is the party that got us into this economic and political mess in the first place after 37 years of corrupt and tyrannical rule. Mnangagwa has played his part in the corruption, vote rigging and the tyranny and murders to establish and retain the Zanu PF dictatorship. He has a lot to answer for.

Mnangagwa will never win a free, fair and credible election. Never.

All Grace Mugabe care about is amassing wealth for herself and her family regardless of how much suffering and greed is causing to the ordinary people. She has blindly supported he husband regardless of him being the principle person of the corrupt and murderous regime that has cause all the suffering and misery and deaths. She has no clue what mess the country is in and no clue what to do to sort out the mess. She is a no brainer, alright.

Grace Mugabe will never ever win a free, fair and credible election. Never ever!

Even if Zanu PF uses its bullying tactics and drag the nation into yet another flawed and meaningless election process which the party will rig, as usual. Who is leading Zanu PF in that election; be it Robert Mugabe, Mnangagwa or Grace Mugabe; is academic. What matters here is that the international community will not refuse to accept the result as the true democratic wish of the people of Zimbabwe. SADC accepted the vote rigging in 2013 and they are not going to make the same mistake again.

Zanu PF is imploding and we are going to finally have the democratic reforms implemented followed by the holding of the country’s first free, fair and credible elections. Kerina Mujati, my dear, you are backing a dead horse!

What everyone in Zanu PF, be there from the Mujuru faction, Mnangagwa faction or this new kid on the block G40 faction, has failed to realise is that party leaders had betrayed the overwhelming majority of people of Zimbabwe, riding roughshod over their freedoms, human rights, hopes and dreams. In their selfish greed, they destroyed the country’s economy and cause untold human suffering and in their desperate effort to hang on to power they denied the people freedoms and rights including the right to free and fair elections and even the right to life.

In its single-minded pursuit for political power and wealth Zanu PF lost sight of what every government on earth needs to survive the support of the people. Zanu PF was doomed to fail and it is doing so now. The party is imploding because it is rotten to the core. Zanu PF is finished!

Zimbabwe is going to have the democratic reforms implemented, hold its first free and fair elections and have regime change!

Oh I agree that Tsvangirai will complain that the 2018 elections were "stolen" but no one will listen because he knows that already right now. He is contesting knowing the process is flawed for the sake of the few gravy train seat Zanu PF will give away to entice the opposition to take part.

So, Tsvangirai will only be complaining for the sake of pretence, play acting; he will never challenge the results in court even if he was given a mountain of evidence of vote rigging. His role is that of a supporting actor who is paid to lose the race. Mugabe has given him the $4 million mansion, is paying his $70 000 SA hospital bill and, no doubt, will get a very generous bonus cheque if Zanu PF manages to fool everyone that this was a serious race!

SADC and most people out there are not going to be fooled by Tsvangirai’s amateur theatricals; they can see the elections are a sham.

If anyone needs lucky, it is not me but Mugabe and his Zanu PF thugs. Not even all the luck in China will stop SADC endorsing next year’s elections and with that the tyrant will well and truly "French Connection United Kingdom ed" for sure! This time he will not get the soft landing of GNU, that much I can tell you right now!

Regime change is coming and there is nothing Mugabe or anyone in Zanu PF can do about it!
