New Zanu PF/ MDC GNU is "ordained by God" - brainwashing Magaba theology at its worst P Guramatunhu

"I know some of you have been saying 'why are you praying'. There is no dialogue between man and man which is not ordained by God. Now that we have dialogued with God, we have to dialogue man and man; and to be able to do that, we have to take some practical steps going forward and those decisive steps are going to be announced to you in due course," said Nelson Chamisa.

I am not a theologian, still I know Magaba theology when I hear it. This is just Magaba theology at its brainwashing worst.

For the benefit of those who do not know Harare well enough to know this place called Magaba; this is the place in Harare, near Rufaro Stadium, where you can buy all manner of recycled rubbish. True enough, most of the stuff would have been recovered from the rubbish dumps.

In the mid-1980s I bought a tyre in Magaba that looked as good as new (the shortages we are seeing today are not new but rather a recurring nightmare). I soon discovered Magaba’s jacks of all trade and masters of rubbish had plugged an inch-long cut in the tyre! A tyre bursting whilst travelling at speed is deadly! Those Magaba jackasses do not give a damn!

Chamisa must stop peddling his Magaba theology!

If all dialogue “between man and man is ordained by God” then is there so much lying, deceitfulness and evil among mankind?

Was it not the Lord Himself who gave Moses the Ten Commandments, the laws to govern who mankind was to relate to God and to each other? Did He not give mankind a discerning mind to know right from wrong and those who acted wisely have enjoyed peace and prosperity whilst those who have acted foolishly have suffered and perished.

Zimbabwe’s economic troubles, trial and tribulations are man-made; there are a product of decades of gross mismanagement, rampant corruption, lawlessness and greed. This is decades of man to man foolish dialogue; we, as a nation chose, to go down this path; it was not a fate “ordained by God”.

Today Zimbabwe is at a political cross-road; following last year’s rigged elections we have a many different routes to follow:

a)   Following the rigged elections Mnangagwa and his cronies declared themselves the legitimate winners of the elections, seized the instruments of government and presented the nation with a fait accompli. We can accept this illegitimate government and the consequence of having a pariah state that we can see already.

As long as Zimbabwe remains a pariah state ruled by corrupt, incompetent, vote rigging and murderous thugs the country will never enjoy any meaningful economic recovery. No one likes to do business with thugs.

b)   MDC is offering to fraudulently declare Zanu PF legitimate if Mnangagwa agrees to appoint Chamisa and other MDC leaders cabinet members. It is fraudulent because it is not for MDC to decide who is legitimate and who is not; only the people in a free, fair and credible elections can do this.

Chamisa has claimed to have “the key to unlock the economy”. He is bluffing. Zimbabwe’s pariah state status will not go away just because Zanu PF has a few MDC cabinet members.

Chamisa’s Magaba theology that the Zanu PF and MDC GNU is course “ordained by God” will fool many naïve and gullible Zimbabweans, not the savvy international community and investors.

c)   The last option is to bite the bullet and demand that Zanu PF is illegitimate and must step down. If we are serious about wanting to revive the economy, then we must end the curse of rigged elections and pariah state. We cannot end the decades of misrule by keeping the dictatorship that is causing the misrule but by getting rid of it!

16 August 2019 demo echoes march in support of November 2017 coup - Mngangagwa used and abused us and now its Chamisa's turn N Garikai

"Now that we have dialogued with our God, we have to dialogue between man and man. To be able to do that, we have to take some very practical steps going forward and those decisive steps are going to be announced to you in due course," Chamisa said
This is just a blatant lie. As much as we are all free to pray and petition God, it is very presumptuous for anyone to then claim that not only did God grant them their request but that they had “a dialogue with God!” This becomes more outrageous when it is clear the request is a selfish one, there is no way God would ever want to be involved in such deceitful activities.

MDC deputy president Tendai Biti, after a meeting with Chamisa on Monday, said the MDC was taking a "radical paradigm shift."

"There comes at a time in the history of any struggle where a radical paradigm shift is required. Section 59 cries out loud. Our people are suffering: poverty, shortages, hyperinflation, corruption and the collapse of social services decimates our people," Biti said, referencing a constitutional provision which protects the right to protest and petition peacefully.

MDC leaders are calling for demos to press Mnangagwa to accept their proposals to go into a power sharing arrangement. The arrangement is supposed to address the people’s suffering but we all know that it will do no such thing. Chamisa says he has the key to unlock the economic recovery; he is bluffing. The power sharing is to allow MDC leaders back on the gravy train as happened during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. They “sat, ate and did nothing” as Chamisa rightly admitted.

Where in the Holy Scriptures have we ever heard the Lord approving such dirty schemes designed to enrich the few at the expense of the suffering masses!

Nearly two years ago Zimbabweans came out in their thousands in support of the 15 November 2017 military coup after they were told it would bring freedom and liberty to all. The coup plotters just wanted the masses to support them but had no intention of dismantling the dictatorship. Chamisa and company just want the people to support them in their quest to get back on the gravy train.

MDC’s 16 August call for street protest in support for demands for a new GNU are echoes of the public support of the November 2017 military coup. The coup did not dismantle the Zanu PF dictatorship and in like manner the new GNU will fail to deliver free, fair and credible elections. Mnangagwa and his putsch used us to further their selfish agenda and now Chamisa and his friends are using and abusing us. We never learn!

"Did God instruct MDC to take power by force?" - be warned, "be as shrewd as snakes" W Mukori

“One thing for certain, which the opposition should know, is that there is not going to be any transfer of power outside the elections. Their decision to participate in the elections that brought Mnangagwa to power — whether or not they were free and fair — was a taciturn admission that they believed in the country's electoral system,” reported Newsday.

“To now call for a transfer of power after participating in those polls, is problematic.”

Actually, it is worse than that; MDC leaders KNEW that with no reforms in place, Zanu PF will rig the elections and yet they still participated out of greed, as David Coltart admitted in his book.

In his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of tyranny in Zimbabwe, former MDC – Ncube Senator and Minister of Education in the GNU, David Coltart, gave details of how Zanu PF flouted the electoral rules, it clear the upcoming 2013 elections would not be free and fair. Meanwhile talks of uniting the two MDC factions to fight the elections as one were going nowhere.

“The worst aspect for me about the failure to agree a coalition was that both MDCs couldn’t now do the obvious – withdraw from the (2013) elections,” explained Senator Coltart.

“The electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility.”

Coltart’s explanation as to why MDC participating in the 2013 elections knowing Zanu PF would rig the elections begs the question why MDC had failed to implement the reforms in the five years of the GNU, in the first place. As for failing to form a coalition, this was just a feeble excuse because four of the main MDC factions did come together to form the MDC Alliance just before the 2018 elections and still they participated in those flawed and illegal elections.

When MDC leaders acknowledge that participating in the flawed and illegal elections would give the “process credibility” that is where they should have got off the bus as a matter of principle!

Whilst all the other individuals, nations, organizations with any democratic sense dismissed last year’s elections as a farce because whole electoral process full of flaws and illegalities. “The electoral commission lacked full independence and appeared to not always act in an impartial manner,” stated the EU Election Mission final report.

“The final results as announced by the Electoral Commission contained numerous errors and lacked adequate traceability, transparency and verifiability. Finally, the restrictions on political freedoms, the excessive use of force by security forces and abuses of human rights in the post-election period undermined the corresponding positive aspects during the pre-election campaign. As such, many aspects of the 2018 elections in Zimbabwe failed to meet international standards.”

Having participated in the elections knowing that ZEC had failed to produce even something as basic as a verified voters’ roll, Chamisa and company had to keep up the charade that the election was nothing wrong with the process. They could not endorse the election as having been free, fair and credible either and so they settled for cherry picking. Chamisa rejected ZEC’s vote count giving Mnangagwa victory in the presidential race although MDC itself, just like ZEC, failed to produce the “verifiable and traceable” documentary evidence to support Chamisa’s vote count.

Under this Zanu PF de facto one-party dictatorship, Zimbabwe has earned a reputation as pariah state ruled by corrupt, incompetent, vote rigging and murderous thugs. It is impossible to do business in such a state, that is obvious. The thriving economy Zanu PF inherited from Smith in 1980 has slowly but surely grind to a halt, after 39 years of gross mismanagement and rampant corruption. The country has been starved of new investment as investors have shied away. By blatantly rigging last year’s election, Mnangagwa confirmed that Zimbabwe was still a pariah state and the dictatorship ruled the roost or be it under a new dictator.

Mark my words; as long as Zimbabwe remains a pariah state, adding Chamisa and two or three other MDC leaders to the Zanu PF cabinet will not change the pariah state status, there will be no meaningful economic recovery.

The only way out of this mess is for the nation to accept that last year’s elections were a farce and Zanu PF is illegitimate, hence the pariah state, and must step down. The country need a new GNU but one in which there are new players who will be tasked to implement the democratic reforms leading to the holding of free, fair and credible elections and ending of the curse of rigged elections and pariah state. Zanu PF and MDC leaders cannot be appointed into the new GNU because they failed to get even one reform implemented in the five years of the 2008 GNU. It is naïve to expect them to do any better.

“Perhaps what is ironic in this whole thing is that these ill-advised plans (MDC is planning to stage street protest to force Mnangagwa to form a Zanu PF and MDC GNU) are coming after the party claims it had been fasting,” continued the Newsday report.

“One wonders if, in their prayer and fasting, God instructed them to take power by force? Sikhala's sentiments would have been laughable if there were not a reflection of the kindergarten politics that the party has become synonymous with.”

If the street protest would finally deliver the democratic changes the nation has been dying for then I would argue all those who can take part to do so. The most important thing to note here is the demos are to push MDC’s agenda of a new Zanu PF and MDC GNU at the expense of the GNU that will deliver the reforms.

The country is in this political and economic mess because MDC leaders “sat, ate and do nothing in five years of the GNU”, as Chamisa himself admitted. The suggestion that God would be involved in yet another MDC scheme to “sit, eat and do nothing” at the expense of the long-suffering ordinary Zimbabweans is blasphemous, to say the least.

The people of Zimbabwe have risked life and limb to elect MDC leaders on the understanding the party will bring about the democratic changes, as the party’s name implies, the nation have been dying for. MDC has failed to bring about even one change in 20 years although the party has had many, many golden opportunities to implement reforms.

There is a mountain of evidence that MDC leaders have long ago abandoned the common cause of implementing the reforms to ensure free, fair and credible elections. MDC leaders now accept that Zanu PF can rig the elections as long as they get the scraps. If the people of Zimbabwe close their eyes and refuse to see what is going on even after 20 years of being short changed, then they deserve to suffer.

"Behold, I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves,” warned Jesus. Matthew 10:16.

"Mnangagwa's moves are intelligent, complicated and effective" - what a laugh, name one, just one, such move P Guramatunhu

“Highly placed sources from Harare have indicated that President Emmerson Mnangagwa is vetting MDC MPs who are under consideration to form a quasi-government of national unity,” reported Bulawayo 24.

“Insiders from the dreaded Central Intelligence Organisation's National security department known as Branch 5 who spoke to this reporter have indicated that there is an internal process which is underway and is being kept a closely guarded secret to do background checks and ensure that the MDC candidates handpicked to be part of the cabinet will accept the appointments.”

When Mnangagwa and his cronies booted Mugabe out of office in the November 2017 military coup the putsch were cocksure they would revive the country’s comatose economy. “Zimbabwe is open for business!” crowed Mnangagwa at every opportunity. Now two years since the coup the penny has finally dropped that the expected flood of investors and new money to kick-start the economy was not coming.

As much as Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF regime would hate to admit it, it is nonetheless crystal clear the regime has no clue what to do to fix the economy. Meanwhile the economic meltdown is getting worse and worse as the soaring inflation, chronic shortages, etc. show. Anyone with half a brain can see the economic situation in Zimbabwe is socially, politically and morally unsustainable.

No one is therefore surprised to hear that Mnangagwa is now actively pursuing the option of sharing power with Chamisa and his MDC party. “I have the key to unlock the economy!” Chamisa claimed. Every analyst worthy of the name has dismissed the claim as political posturing but the very fact that Mnangagwa is taking this up goes to show just how desperate he must be. Desperate people do desperate things!
As for the report of CIO carefully sifting through MDC leaders to make sure those selected to be cabinet ministers “will accept the appointments”. This is just a waste of time because not even one MDC leaders will refuse. They all participated in last year’s elections knowing fully well the whole election process was flawed and illegal. They also knew that Zanu PF would be giving away a few gravy-train parliamentary or senatorial seats and it was these seats they were after. A cabinet post is a significant upgrade none of them would refuse.

"Number 1 is a man who comes from an intelligence background and all his political moves and steps are from a position of intelligence,” the source told the Bulawayo 24 reporter. “You need to understand who Emmerson Mnangagwa is by training in order to decipher his moves. His moves come from a counter-intelligence strength and his political plays are very complicated yet effective."

NAME ONE, JUST ONE, EFFECTIVE MOVE, COMPLICATED OR OTHERWISE, MNANGAGWA HAS EVER MADE IN HIS WHOLE LIFE! I found myself shouting at the screen.

Mnangagwa “intelligent” whose “moves are complicated and yet effective”! What a big laugh! Mnangagwa, just like Mugabe before, is a corrupt, incompetent, vote rigging and ruthless and murderous thug; yes. Intelligent, certainly not!

Zimbabwe is one of the few countries in human history that has suffered some of the most rapid economic decline because of the sheer incompetence of the country’s leaders. There was no war, no natural disaster, nothing but the blundering incompetence of the country’s leaders. Some of Zanu PF’s voodoo economic policies defied logic and common sense. How some of those Zanu PF ever got their University degrees, PhDs, professorships, etc., etc. is a mystery.

If Mnangagwa was smart then he would have realised a long time ago that the Zanu PF dictatorship was doomed to implode because the system was rotten to the core. He would have realised that Mugabe had completely destroyed the country’s economy and platitudes like “Zimbabwe is open for business!” were not enough to revive the economy. He should have realised too that he would not get away with yet another rigged elections.

If Mnangagwa was intelligent, he would know that the best and only course of action was for him to acknowledge he rigged last year’s elections and agree to step down without any further ado! If Mnangagwa goes into this political marriage of convenience with MDC, it is Mnangagwa who will end with a lot of egg on his face. Chamisa and company will secure gravy train seats and Mnangagwa will gain nothing because the economic meltdown will not end.

As long as Zimbabwe remains a pariah state ruled by corrupt, incompetent, vote rigging and murderous thugs the country’s economy will never recover. No one investor likes to do business with thugs. Adding Chamisa and a few other MDC leaders to the Zanu PF regime will not fool anyone much less the savvy investors!

Mnangagwa intelligent – what a laugh! What else did you want him to do to finally convince you he is just a village idiot who got luck and was promoted way beyond his level of competence!

"US sanctions on 1 st August commander undermine our sovereignty" - nonsense, rigging elections did that P Guramatunhu

When President Mnangagwa ordered the soldiers to shoot to kill protesters on the 1 st August 2018; this was a deliberate and calculated measure to send a clear message to all Zimbabweans that the Zanu PF regime would not tolerate any dissent. The regime had just blatantly rigged the elections and was equally determined to silence all who dared to protest.

Some people wanted to give the regime the benefit of the doubt and maintained the shooting was more about maintaining law and order than a Machiavellian act of pression. Mnangagwa himself proved the doubters wrong.

“We saw them burning police cars and killing cops, where else have you seen that? But we said no, we do not need violence. We deployed soldiers to stop the protesters and they quelled the disturbances,” said Mnangagwa, commenting on the January 2019 follow up shoot to kill incident. People were protesting against the massive increase in the price of fuel and the chronic shortages of food, medicine, cash, etc.

“Those whom we fought during the liberation struggle, the whites, are still fighting so they can claim power again. They have certain people and organisations they are working with. Those groups and individuals are moving around the country influencing and leading people to be violent,” continued Mnangagwa.

“We should be on the lookout as our enemies are not resting, but ensure our eyes are always wide open. We will crush our enemies, and they are being crushed.”

This is typical Zanu PF modus operandi, the liberation war end four decades ago but not in Zimbabwe, behind every bush is a white colonialist plotting to recolonise the country and every critic and opponent of the regime is a puppet of the white colonialist. The regime does not need to prove anything; the puppets and their supporters are ruthlessly crushed and the white colonialists are accused of all manner of imaginary crimes and verbal abuse.

The Americans are one of the Western nations who saw the 1 st August 2018 shoot to kill for what it is: a sinister move by the regime to use brute force to silence its local opponents. The Americans have expressed their disappointment that one year since the 7 protesters’ cold-blooded murder the regime has yet to arrest those responsible for the murders.

Better still, the Americans have added former Presidential Guard Brigade commander and ambassador-designate to Tanzania, Anselem Sanyatwe and his spouse on the dreaded sanctions list. Sanyatwe was the commander of the unit send to crush the protesters. The move has provoked the usual verbal diarrhoea from the regime.

"It is our position that sanctions imposed on our country are illegal and any escalation of the same is counterproductive,” said Information Permanent Secretary, Nick Mangwana in a statement.

"President Mnangagwa has adopted a policy of rapprochement towards countries with whom we have endured less than friendly relations with over the past two decades. However, this policy is not a policy of appeasement.

"We therefore wish to place on record our strong displeasure of actions to undermine Zimbabwe's sovereignty and condemn posturing meant to fan divisions rather than initiate national healing and understanding."

The sheer stupidity of the regime beggars belief! By blatantly rigging the elections Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF cronies have forfeited the country’s hopes of meaningful economic recovery, political stability and ultimately the country’s sovereignty. As long as Zimbabwe remains a pariah state ruled by corrupt, incompetent, vote rigging and murderous thugs, the economic meltdown will only get worse. No investor will want to do business with thugs.

Zanu PF is determined to use brute force to hang on to power, the events of 1 st August last year and those of January this year were clear messages of intent. Anyone who expects the regime to implement any meaningful democratic reforms to ensure free, fair and credible elections is being naïve.

Zanu PF rigged last year’s elections, the regime is illegitimate, and we must demand that its steps down. Since we cannot trust Zanu PF to implement the reforms, the regime must step down to allow the space for the appointment of an interim administration that can be entrusted to implement the reforms.

All pressure must be brought to bear on the Zanu PF dictatorship to step down. It is the only way Zimbabwe is ever going to end the curse of rigged elections and pariah state.

"No single soldier has been arrested for 1 st August 2018 shoot, why?" - no single reform implemented either N Garikai

USA Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Brian A Nichols expressed his country’s disappointment with the lack of progress by President Mnangagwa’s government failure to hold those responsible for shooting dead 7 civilians and injuring many other in the 1st August 2017 violent crush of street protests.

“President Mnangagwa deserves much credit for inviting former South African President Kgalema Motlanthe to lead a Commission of Inquiry (COI) to investigate the events of that fateful day. Ultimately, the COI produced a thorough report with many sound recommendations that the President announced and unconditionally accepted on December 18, 2018. On January 28, 2019, he formed a special Cabinet task force led by the Justice and Foreign Affairs ministers, specifically tasked to implement these recommendations,” wrote the Ambassador.

“Unfortunately, now over seven months after the Motlanthe report's release, the government has very little to show in terms of progress. I read as of mid-June that the Ministry of Justice was processing 35 victims' claims for compensation. While laudable, this should not take so long. I continue to hear about how the police are being "re-equipped" to better deal with demonstrations, as if this was the central lesson learned from the commission's report. I have yet to learn of a single soldier or security forces member held to account for the deaths of civilians as the report clearly mandated.

“Sadly, the ink was barely dry on the report before the security forces again acted with impunity, killing more civilians in January 2019. Likewise, the government has held no one to account for these deaths either. Equally troubling, Defence deputy minister Victor Matemadanda threatened to use soldiers "trained to kill" against protesters only a few days ago.”

Mr Ambassador, President Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF regime have perfected the art of saying what people want to hear whilst the regime continues to do as it pleases. After the November 2017 military coup he and his putsch knew the world was not amused about the coup and so he was quick off the mark to promise free, fair and credible elections. He did not implement even one token reform and went on to blatantly rig the elections.

You are 100% correct, Mr Ambassador, that the regime has dragged its feet as regards implemented the Motlanthe Commission’s recommendations to bring those responsible for the shooting to account.

The regime has also not implemented any of the recommendation of the various election observer teams. After 39 years of rigged elections this is the country’s number one challenge. The only sure way to get the reforms implemented is for the nation to appoint an interim administration tasked to implement the reforms. Zanu PF rigged last year’s election, the party has no mandate to govern, it is illegitimate and should step down to create the space for the interim administration.

If Zanu PF is allowed to stay in office, either on its own or in the new GNU MDC is calling for, we can be 100% certain that no meaningful reforms will be implemented and that Zanu PF will rig the 2023 elections. Besides, Zanu PF insists that last year’s elections were free, fair and credible; proof the regime has no intention of implementing any reforms.

As long as Zimbabwe remains a pariah state ruled by corrupt, incompetent, vote rigging and murderous thugs there will never be any meaningful economic recovery and political stability. No investor wants to do business with a thug and the worsening economic meltdown is socially and politically unsustainable.

The prospect of present economic chaos and suffering continuing for even one more month, much less Zanu PF rigging the 2023 elections to extend its corrupt and tyrannical rule, is simply unthinkable!

"Zanu PF will implement reforms and create a democracy" - So, rigged elections to reform yourselves out of office! P Guramatunhu

“Justice minister Ziyambi Ziyambi has insisted that President Emmerson Mnangagwa's administration is committed to implementing electoral reforms recommended by electoral observers ahead of the 2023 general elections,” reported Bulawayo 24.

“Ziyambi said government was working towards creating a democratic country.”

Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi you lie, rig elections, rob the nation blind with all this wholesale looting and whatever else Zanu PF has decided to do but the one thing you must not do is insult our intelligence. We know what is going on here and that the regime is up to no good. How many grand schemes and promises has Zanu PF made these last 39 years and how many has it ever delivered?

Zanu PF has promised freedom, justice, economically prosperous and democracy for all time and time again these last 39 years. No doubt, the party has worked very, very hard to fulfil all its promises and the results on the ground tell the real truth on how the regime has performed.

Four decades of Zanu PF gross mismanagement and rampant corruption have left the country’s once vibrant economy in ruins. Unemployment has soared to dizzying heights of 90% forcing millions of our people into abject poverty. ¾ of our people now live on US$ 30 or less per month in a country whose poverty datum line is US$ 650 per month. ¾!

Before independence, Zimbabwe earned a fortune from selling quality tobacco, cut flowers and other cash crops. We produced enough food to feed our own people well with still plenty left over to sell. We were the breadbasket of Southern Africa. Sadly, that did not last long after independence.

20 years ago, Mugabe started to seize farms to give to his cronies mostly, always demanding more loot, wasting it, and come back to demand for more. Agricultural production plummeted and pulled down the economy with it, since it was the engine driving the economy. Zimbabwe is now dependent on imported food-aid, we are so poor we cannot even pay for it.

In a day and age when human ingenuity has turned deserts into blooming fields and orchards; we, who live in a country that is for all purposes the Garden of Eden, are starving! There is the damning testimonial of the sheer breath-taking incompetency of the men and women who have ruled the country these last 39 years.

Zimbabwe is today the poorest nation in Africa according to Africa 2017 Wealth Report by New World Wealth.

The only reason Zimbabwe has sunk this low this fast is because the nation has been stuck with a breathtakingly corrupt and incompetent regime that rigged elections to stay in power regardless of the people’s democratic wishes. Ever since getting into power in 1980 Zanu PF has worked tirelessly to corrupt the country’s state institutions turning them into Zanu PF departments in all but name whose primary purposed was to ensure there is no regime change. The party has systematically eroded the people’s freedoms and human rights, deny them a meaningful say in the governance of the country and even the right to life, for sole purpose of securing Zanu PF remains in power no matter what.

The nearest Zanu PF has ever come to having the de facto one-party dictatorship dismantled was during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. The party was forced to sign the Global Political Agreement agreeing to the implementation of the raft of democratic reforms design to end the party’s dictatorial powers. Sadly for the nation but fortuitously for Zanu PF, the MDC who were expected to implement the reform failed to implement even one reform.

Robert Mugabe bribed the MDC leaders with the gravy train trappings of high office and they, in return, booted the reforms out of the window. MDC leaders failed to implement even one reform in five years.

It is naïve to expect Zanu PF to implement any of the reforms. “You can’t expect us to reform ourselves out of power!” former Zanu PF minister and chief strategist Professor Jonathan Moyo once said.

Indeed, only a village idiot would believe Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi that the party’s insatiable appetite for absolute power and all the political influence and wealth it brings has all gone. Mnangagwa and his November 2017 military coup plotters promised to hold free, fair and credible elections but failed to implement even one token reform before last year’s elections. We are being asked to believe the regime will do so before the 2023 elections!

“Mnangagwa is committed to implementing the reforms!” Since he insists last year’s elections were “free, fair and credible”, what reforms will he implement?

Last year’s elections were not free, fair and credible and so Zanu PF has no mandate to govern the country. The only way out is for the party to step down, to allow an interim administration to implement the reforms.

Zanu PF did not blatantly rig last year’s elections so it can reform itself out of office!
