@ Chin'ono
“Prominent Zimbabwean journalist Hopewell Chin'ono has dismissed suggestions that he is embroiled in a personal feud with former Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader Nelson Chamisa, insisting that his differences with the opposition figure are purely political and centred on leadership style.
Responding to a message from an X follower who urged him to reconcile with Chamisa, Chin'ono said he has no personal issues with the politician.
"I have no personal problem with Nelson Chamisa, why should I settle anything with him when we don't have a personal quarrel?" he wrote. "I simply do not agree with his style of leadership, and that can only change if that style changes. I follow ideas, not personalities."
The award-winning journalist drew a distinction between his disagreements with Chamisa and his past exchanges with former Norton legislator Temba Mliswa, with whom he clashed publicly before eventually reconciling.
"Mliswa attacked me, I responded, and he apologised and withdrew the attack," Chin'ono explained. "How is that in any way similar to a journalist not agreeing with political ideas? There are millions who also do not agree with Chamisa's style of leadership, should they also be expected to make peace with him, and if so, how?"
Chin'ono stressed that politics should be rooted in accountability and the contestation of ideas, rather than in manufacturing personal quarrels and reconciliations where none exist.
His comments come amid ongoing debates within Zimbabwe's opposition about Chamisa's leadership record and the direction of the democratic movement following his surprise resignation from the CCC earlier this year.”
I have not always agreed with Hopewell Chin’ono but because I was not convinced he was right or whatever and that is as it should be. We must agree to differ as long as each of as give the evidence to support their position and we do not waste time disputing facts and reality. We cannot disagree on facts, truth and reality.
Here I have to say, I totally agree with him. All our interactions, not just political, “should be rooted in accountability and the contestation of ideas, rather than in manufacturing personal quarrels and reconciliations where none exist.”
Alas Zimbabweans have a knack for stifling debate and democratic discourse manufacturing falsehoods just to draw attention from the substantive issues. The late Edson Zvobgo called this the Mozambique syndrome from his liberation days in that country.
"Whenever they (his fellow nationalists) lost an argument when we were in Mozambique, they would accuse you of being CIA to avoid the substantive issues," he explained.
“Today they call you an American puppet to avoid responsibility.”
The copy-cat opposition accuse all those who dares hold Chamisa to account of hating Chamisa, of being jealous of him, of being a Zanu PF agent, etc., etc. Just to avoid having to admit that Chamisa lied to the nation about plugging vote rigging loop holes just to con the nation into participating in flawed elections, for example. The consequences of participating was giving Zanu PF legitimacy and thus perpetuating the dictatorship and the nation’s suffering.
The Chamisa chete chete brigade do not care about the tragic consequences of Chamisa failed leadership, lies, incompetence and downright treasonous sell out. They do not care that he is gearing to drag the nation into yet another flawed 2028 elections on the basis of the same idiotic lies. All they care about is Chamisa must not be questioned much less called a liar because he is their demigod.
How anyone, let alone millions, can consider a mere mortal a demigod in this day and age beggars belief! But then it explains why we are a failed state! What is more, the nation will never escape from this hell-hole until we cure ourselves of the Mozambique syndrome!

ReplyDelete“Unombo zviwanepiko nhai Wiribet. According to who were MDC leaders elected to implement reforms.
The reforms were but just part of a whole sack of zvishuviro zvema citizens....iwe takarasima nechinhu 1 kunge benzi.”
Implementing the democratic reforms was the single most important task the nation risked all to elect MDC/CCC leaders to do these last 25 years. The nation is still stuck with the corrupt, incompetent and murderous Zanu PF dictatorship because the party continues to rigs elections and get away with it because MDC/CCC leaders not only sold out on reforms but have been conning the nation to participate in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy.
I am not just talking about reforms but also why we have failed to implement any these last 25 years and what wee must do to finally get them implemented.
You are just a typical Chamisa chete chete brigade member, you cannot bear to hear that Chamisa and company sold out. Since we cannot talk about reforms without talking about the sellouts you want the whole subject closed. Chamisa is your demigod and in your personality cult mentality he can do no wrong. You fume and froth each time some calls him a sellout and/or a liar.
Well Chamisa & co. are sell outs, corrupt, incompetent and liars. Zimbabwe needs to knock some sense into these Chamisa chete chete nincompoops and force them to see Chamisa & co. for whom they really are. Until then the idiots will be conned to participate in flawed elections to perpetuate the nation’s suffering.
So for the sake of putting and end to this curse of 45 years and counting of rigged elections; common sense will be hammered into the Chamisa chete chete brigade members’ empty heads! You can fume and froth all you want, the hammering will not stop!

ReplyDelete“That guy will not allow you to blame zanu under any circumstances.”
Your foolishness ooze out of you like sweat!
Did MDC/CCC leaders fail to implement even one token reforms these last 25 years including the 5 years in the GNU because of Zanu PF or was it because they are corrupt and incompetent.
Chamisa lied about plugging vote rigging loop hole to con people to participate in flawed elections knowing fully well that he was lying and that participating would give Zanu PF legitimacy. Are you going to blame Zanu PF for Chamisa idiotic lies too?
You have a personality cult mentality and thus cannot accept that Chamisa & co. sold out and are liars. Chamisa is your demigod! How is it possible that anyone can be so shallow, thick and slow beggars belief! No wonder Zimbabwe is a failed state.
@ Shumba
ReplyDelete“Forget bout all these reforms dreams, Zanu PF will never do that easily, we all need kutomira kupinda muma streets and hold Zanu PF accountable.”
Who is stopping going into the street?
What exactly will you be holding Zanu PF “to account” for? For failing to implement the reforms these last 25 years including the GNU years? Or are you holding Zanu PF to account for Chamisa’s idiotic lies of plugging vote rigging loop hole and the 2 m who foolish to believe the lies?
Chamisa supporters singing his praise vs ED supporters singing his praises
ReplyDeleteBoth Zanu PF and opposition supporters are equally fanatical. They have one thing in common, the personality cult mentality, each set believe their leader is a demigod. The democratic demand that the people must hold the leaders to account is completely alien to these people. And until we change this mentality Zimbabwe will remain a failed state blundering from pillar to post.

ReplyDelete“True but the continual rhetorical analysis of...a failed state... without giving solutions doesn't help to mitigate or correct the current status. Like in China...engineers are known to solve problems.... Ta”
Very true. I think we have made very little progress in solving our problems in Zimbabwe - being a failed state - because we have knack for repeating the same mistakes over and over gain.
Whilst we agreed in the 1990s that we needed to elect opposition leaders who will implement the reforms to dismantle the Zanu PF dictatorship, for example, we have failed to define what those reforms are much less how they would be implemented. We went ahead and we gave the voice and vote to millions who have no idea what should be done. They elected opposition leaders who are corrupt, incompetent and utterly useless.
Zanu PF continues to rig elections because not even one token reform was implemented in 25 years. The penny has not dropped in the voters that MDC/CCC are not up to the task. Indeed some of the voters will fume and froth just to hear Chamisa & co. called sell outs or liars. No wonder we are stuck!
Universal suffrage has been a curse in Zimbabwe especially since neither Zanu PF nor MDC/CCC have never made any effort to educate the electorate because they did not want to be held to democratic account.
How many times have Zimbabweans been advised on the sheer folly of participating in the elections “so flawed, so illegal the only logical step is to withdraw,” as David Coltart put it; only to give Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuate their own suffering? The people have ignored the warning and instead listened to Chamisa’s idiotic lies of winning rigged elections.
Solutions have been offered. You can take the cow to the river but you cannot make it drink. Zimbabweans think THEY know the “solutions” already and hence will not listen to anyone offering any other solution(s) different from what they have. The truth is they don’t even know the half of the problems.
How anyone would conned to participate in flawed elections expecting a different result after 45 years of rigged elections, speaks volumes of the individual. That millions of Zimbabweans are so easily conned speaks volumes of the nation.
Universal suffrage has been a curse to Zimbabwe. It is bad enough we have millions who are easily conned and giving them a vote is like giving a monkey a loaded gun! The morons have the loaded gun and they are holding the nation to ransom!

It is nice to be a brainless nincompoop because you have no clue what is going on around you.
So I should say nothing about Chamisa & co. selling out on implementing reforms nor Chamisa conning millions to participate in rigged elections.
How many times does one need to tell you that Zanu PF in rigging the elections precisely because MDC/CCC have failed to implement the reforms? Chamisa lied about plugging vote rigging loop holes to con people to participate in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy!
No wonder we are a failed state, we really have some brain dead nincompoops, millions of them. And they have the vote. Chamisa will con them to participate in flawed 2028 elections and perpetuate the nation’s suffering. What a nightmare!

Ignorance is a curse second only to death itself. Zimbabwe is a failed state and the root cause is ignorance - we are so stupid and dumb we have failed to govern ourselves. We have failed to hold free, fair and credible elections because we do not even know what constitute free and fair elections.
When MDC/CCC leaders sold out and failed to implement even one token reform during the GNU they told their supporters the opposition can win rigged elections. The supporters are so dumb and stupid they believed the idiotic lies so they have participated in flawed elections for 45 years and counting expecting a different result!

ReplyDelete“In this world of politics and Christianity, there is no political vacuum or Christian vacuum. If you are not for ZANU PF, you are for opposition. If you are not for God, you are for Satan.”
This is the type of irrational statement one would expect from you.
God vs Satan is the perfect example of good vs evil. Only a nincompoop like you can ever place Zanu PF vs CCC on the same scale as God vs Satan because no one with half a brain would even argue that there can ever be any mortal out there who have never ever done an evil thing much less a political party.
Such a suggestion can only come from one with a typical personality cult mentality. Chamisa lied about plugging vote rigging loop holes but idiots like you cannot accept that reality because to you Chamisa is a demigod who can do no wrong!
Instead of focusing on the substantive issue we wasting time on trivial! Zanu PF rigs elections to retain power at all cost there is no real difference between rigged elections and refusing to hand over power jus as you cannot win flawed elections, so flawed the result is predetermined!
ReplyDeleteIn the 1990s the nation certainly made a consensus decision to elect the opposition whose primary task was to deliver democratic changes. Just because some individuals were not aware of what was happening does not mean it did not happen! Why that is even important beggars belief!

ReplyDeleteThe ancient Greeks, the fathers of democracy - government of the people, of the people and by the people - realised that there are three types of people in every society the idiots, the tribesman and the citizen. They decided that for democracy to work the said people must be diligent in their sacred duty of holding leaders to account. They granted to vote to only the citizens because only they could be trusted to carry out their duty objectively and diligently.
The overwhelming majority of both Zanu PF and MDC/CCC supporters have a tribesmen mentality at best and yet they have the vote. How can they be trusted to hold their leaders to democratic account when they regard him/her as a demigod who can do no wrong.
Universal suffrage is but a curse for us. How can we ever have competent leaders when those entrusted the task of electing such leaders have no clue what constitute good leadership qualities and are easily conned to believe idiotic lies and act to undermine their own interests!
