Toxicity forces Biti into early political exit
HARARE, Zimbabwe — Firebrand opposition activist and former Finance Minister Tendai Biti has called it a day in opposition politics marking an end to a dramatic two decades in the trenches fighting for political change in Zimbabwe.
Biti waltzed into opposition politics as a fierce human rights lawyer and became Member of Parliament in 2000 before he assumed the powerful Secretary General of the MDC-T in 2005.
He was to be a vital cog for the MDC-T led by the late former opposition leader, Morgan Tsvangirai, as the chief negotiator leading the pack to a historic inclusive government dubbed the Government of National Unity (GNU) in 2008 to 2013 where he served as the Finance Minister.
Despite holding a colourful record in the "struggle", the toxicity in the opposition camp has finally pushed him into quitting.
“It’s embarrassing,” Biti told a local media outlet. “Particularly for people like me who have been in the trenches for a long time, who bear the scars of fighting.”
He accused some in the opposition camp of joining the feeding trough.
“All of us, all of them are now waiting to receive vehicles, to get a call to go and see Victor. And that’s not good enough,” Biti said, in apparent reference to a popular but infamous call by businessman Wicknell Chivayo in his vehicle donation crusade.
MDC leaders lost themselves during the GNU when Mugabe bribed them with the trappings of high office and the forgot about implementing reforms - the number one task the party was launched to do. As minister in the GNU Biti got a E-Class Mercedes Benz.
Since the GNU debacle, he has participated in the flawed elections knowing that doing soo will give Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuate the nation’s suffering. He did not care about that. He knew Zanu PF was giving away a few gravy train seats to entice the opposition to participate and that he could not resist!
Of course, Tendai Biti is a sell out. Zanu PF is still in power today because he and his fellow MDC/CCC leaders sold out on reforms and have been participating in flawed elections to perpetuate the dictatorship. History will know him for betraying the nation boy failing to implement any democratic reforms in 25 years including 5 GNU years. He and his fellow MDC/CCC sell outs can fcuk off the political stage. The trinkets have been nothing more than the lump of sugar given to the sheep before slaughter!
Thanks to the wholesale looting of the nation's treasures Mnangagwa and his cronies are filthy rich the own ZEC, Police, Army, judiciary and even the opposition leaders are in the regime's deep pockets. Ending the cancer of corruption is now an urgent matter for the nation and to end corruption the nation must first end the cursed rigged elections. It is hard to see where change will come from given that Zanu PF, the mafia, are the government and own everything else!

ReplyDeleteI have already told you that ZEC has NEVER EVER produced a verified voters’ roll nor a verified delimitation report (you cannot have the latter without the former). The question then arises why did Mwonzora withdraw for the race in 2023 over the failure to produce the delimitation report when he had ignored it in the past?

If the truth be told everybody in Zimbabwe and outside the country who understand that Chamisa lied about plugging all the vote rigging loop holes to con the nation to participate in the flawed 2023 elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuate the nation’s suffering pissed-off. Chamisa lied about plugging vote rigging loop holes to con people to participate in flawed elections causing their suffering. This was not the first time he and his MDC/CCC fiends have sold out the nation. MDC/CCC leaders have failed to implement even one token reform in 25 years including 5 GNU years.

The ancient Greeks were the first to identify the three main types of humans, the idiot, the tribesman and the citizen. The idiot is, well an idiot! The tribesman is faithful to the tribe and does not care beyond that. The citizens is shrewd enough to know that his peace, prosperity, freedoms and rights are only secure if the peace, etc. of everyone else are secured and guaranteed. The citizen sees the bigger picture beyond the individual and the tribe - the nation, the common wealth.
Zimbabwe is a failed nation and will remain a failed nations as long as Zimbabweans remain stuck with the tribesman mentality!

ReplyDeleteThe irony is Chamisa was the first casual of Strategic ambiguity. Sengezo Tshabangu was a lighting bold out of the blue and caught Chamisa and many of those close to him by surprise. Chamisa abandoned CCC in a huff, he did not even have time to say good bye!
Why some people still think Chamisa was wise to follow the stupid policy of strategic Ambiguity and have no party constitution, structure, etc. only goes to show how little they understand what happened!

Nearly 2 m believed him and voted for him enough to give the election process credibility and Zanu PF political legitimacy. Chamisa himself acknowledged that Zanu PF rigged the elections - the very thing he said would not happen. Of course, Chamisa had lied about plugging the vote rigging loop holes and lied that God was in his hare-brain schemes of plugging vote rigging loop holes.
2023 was not he first time MDC/CCC leaders had conned the nation to participate in flawed elections, they have done this ever since they failed to implement even one token reforms during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. They knew that Zanu PF was giving away a few gravy train seats to entice the opposition to participate in the election no matter how flawed and illegal the process.
It is an outrage that Chamisa & co. were conning the nation with idiotic lies to perpetuate the nation's suffering out of selfish greed. It is blasphemous for them to evoke the name of God in their treasonous betrayal.
Chamisa is gearing to con Zimbabweans to participate in flawed 2028 elections on the back of another idiotic lie of winning rigged elections. Zanu PF blatantly rigged those elections as we all know. SADC and AU election observers condemned the process as flawed and illegal. Chamisa himself has complained that Zanu PF rigged the elections - the very thing that he promised would not happen.
The logical conclusion is that Chamisa lied about plugging the vote rigging loop holes and hence the reason why Zanu PF was able to blatantly rig the elections.
But, of course, the morons have no respect for logic, truth and reality; you will have no qualms in saying Chamisa did not lie! None!

Deploying election agents at all polling station is the most obvious “plugging vote rigging” one can imagine. The very fact that Chamisa did not even bother to deploy agents at 2 000 out of 11 000 or nearly 20% of Polling Station speaks volumes. Chamisa had the funds to deploy the agents but decided to pocket the funds proof he knew Zanu PF was rigging the elections, it was job done!
