Zimbabwe is a failed state. So, who will care for carers when they are old? W Mukori

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? "Who will guard the guards themselves?" or "Who will watch the watchmen?” Asked Roman poet Juvenal.

Replace guard with political leader and you can see why democratic accountability is a pre-requisite for good governance.

Zimbabwe is a failed state because we, as a nation have failed to answer the question: Who will guard the leaders (guardians) if they should become corrupt? Zimbabwe is a failed state because our corrupt, incompetent and tyrannical leaders have become the runaway freight train.

Millions of Zimbabweans have left the country as economic and or political refugees. Many have accepted the low paying wages and are living from hand to mouth. We have become a nation living from hand to mouth.

By failing to deal with the curse of rigged elections and bad governance we have created an even worse problem for ourselves - we live for the day like a fruit-fly.

To paraphrase Juvenal; Quis curam habebit curatorum cum senes erunt? “Who will care for the carers when they are old?”

The problem of restoring the people’s power to hold leaders to democratic account is one Zimbabweans must address with the sense of urgency the matter demands. As long as the leaders retain their carte blanche power to rig elections and get away with it, Zimbabwe will remain a failed state sinking deeper and deeper into the economic and political abyss.

Chamisa sold out be failing to implement even one democratic reform in 25 years he must account for it. How asking him to account for it can be considered hatred beggars belief! No wonder we are failed state.

We not only have corrupt and incompetent leaders but they the very fact that they know they are not accountable to the people because the later are too stupid to ever hold them to account have made the leaders arrogant and indifferent to the the suffering of others. The leaders have become demigods!

Still here is one reality that will be hammered into your empty head: All political leaders are accountable to the people - that is not negotiable.

CHAMISA AND HIS MDC/CCC FRIENDS HAVE FAILED TO IMPLEMENT EVEN ONE TOKEN REFORM IN 25 YEARS INCLUDING THE 5 GNU YEARS. HE CONNED MILLIONS TO PARTICIPATE IN FLAWED ELECTIONS ON THE BASIS OF THE IDIOTIC LIE THAT HE PLUGGED THE VOTE RIGGING LOOP HOLES. OF COURSE HE MUST ACCOUNT FOT IT! WHAT IS SO DIFFICULT FOR YOU TO UNDERSTAND THAT?

Lest we forget, Zimbabweans have risked all to elect MDC/CCC leaders for the express purpose they will implement the democratic reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging elections. Mnangagwa blatantly rigged 2023 elections precisely because MDC/CCC leaders have failed to implement even one reform in 25 years, including 5 GNU years.

"Don't judge me on the old testament!" says Chamisa. What cheeky, of course we must judge you for your blatant betrayal in failing to end the Zanu PF dictatorship.

Chamisa is a liar and one of his biggest lie is "#Godisinit!" God has never been in any of his hare-brain schemes. Why would God approve participating is flawed elections, so flawed there is no verified voters' roll, only to give legitimacy to vote rigging Zanu PF? He is back with his #Godisinit lie to con people to participate in flawed 2028 elections. Watch out!

Though Chamisa has yet to reveal whether he plans to establish a new political party, insiders close to him told The Standard that his recent messaging is highly strategic. Concerns had emerged within his camp that his earlier avoidance of sensitive political issues was allowing narratives suggesting he had been compromised by Mnangagwa's regime to gain traction.

Last week, Chamisa publicly opposed a controversial new law mandating that motorists purchase radio licenses before renewing their vehicle licenses. Speaking out on X (formerly Twitter), where he commands 1.3 million followers, the former Information Communication Technology minister condemned the law as "too draconian, anti-citizens and outright heartless."

"Citizens are being pauperised left, right and centre," Chamisa wrote.

"Why does the citizenry of this country deserve so uncaring and heartless a leadership? What are people supposed to do with all this cruel taxation? Why must I pay for a service I don't use? Why should I pay for partisan propaganda, where I am attacked in person and demonised from dawn to dusk? Do we have a parliament in Zimbabwe? Which other country does this to her citizens? Is this not naked provocation? Is Zimbabwe not a crime scene?”

Chamisa has argued that he should not be held to account for his failure to implement even one token democratic reform in the last 25 years is an outrage. “Don’t judge me on the old testament! Wait for the new testament! ” he argued. What a load of bull!

Leaders must be accountable to the people and it is for what they did or failed to do - that includes Chamisa. It is stupid that Chamisa thinks he can cherry pick on which period people can and cannot hold him to account worst of all insists to be held to account for what may or may do in the future!

Only nincompoops would believe such idiotic nonsense. And now the nincompoops do not want to admit they are nincompoops! I am making sure that they never forget WHO they really are, especially since there is a real danger of Chamisa conning them to participate in 2028 elections and repeat the whole nightmare.

Zimbabwe is a failed state and it is the sacred duty of all Zimbabweans to not only ask why the country is a failed state but to do something to get the nation back on track. Zimbabwe is a failed state because of 45 years and counting of rigged elections and bad governance - man-made problems, it must be said.

Millions are living in abject poverty and millions more have left the country as economic and/or political refugees. We have kicked the failed state can down the road for decades and we are now running out of road!

The informal sector, the carer jobs, etc. have allowed us to live from hand to mouth but we should also consider tomorrow and save for the rainy day. Who will care for the carers when they are old?

There have been many opportunities to implement the reforms and Tsvangirai & Co. have wasted them all. These are the many seminal moments the people themselves should have seen MDC/CCC leaders for the sell outs the really are!

MDC/CCC leaders are Zanu PF team B in all but name, playing for team A to win and have legitimacy.

ZANU PF BLATANTLY RIGGED THE 2023 ELECTIONS, IT WAS CLEAR THAT WITH NO REFORMS ZANU PF WILL RIG THE ELECTIONS AND THAT PARTICIPATING WILL GIVE ZANU PF LEGITIMACY. DAVID COLTART ADMITTED THIS AFTER THE 2013 ELECTIONS AND EXPLAINED THE REASON WHY MDC LEADERS PARTICIPATED REGARDLESS WAS GREED.

“The (2013) electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility,” confessed David Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.

MDC LEADERS FAILED TO IMPLEMENT EVEN ONE TOKEN REFORM DURING THE GNU FOR THE SAME REASONS - INCOMPETENCY AND GREED!

“ELECTIONS WERE MILITARISED!” WAS THE GNU MILITARISED TOO?

ONE OF THE REASONS WHY ZIMBABWE IS A FAILED STATE IS BECAUSE WE HAVE CORRUPT AND INCOMPETENT LEADERS AND THE SITUATION IS MADE WORSE BY HAVING IGNORANT AND GULLIBLE VOTERS, SO IGNORANT THEY BELIEVE ANYTHING EVEN IDIOTIC LIES! THEY ARE SO THICK THEIR MINDS ARE IMPERMEABLE TO REASON.

Mukanya, you are a simpleton totally incapable of understanding anything beyond the grade one 1 + 1 = 2 stuff.

Yes Zanu PF rigs elections. People have risked livelihoods, limbs and even lives to elect MDC/CCC leaders into power on the understanding that once in power they would implement the democratic changes necessary to stop Zanu PF rigging elections. Tsvangirai called the party Movement for Democratic Changes.

So you have supported MDC/CCC all these years and you do not even know what the changes the party has promised were much less how they were to be implemented. Talk of how MDC leaders sold out during the GNU by failing to implement even one reform is like like talking of complex differential equations to a grade one!

Repeating the phrase 'Voters are Fools' ad nauseam kusvika vanhu vati eke nekusvotwa adds no value and only serves to alienate voters.
The SADC monitoring system lacks robustness, and fails to inspire confidence and needs to adapt its approach. For years SADC has monitored and legitimized clearly flawed elections without holding perpetrators accountable.
As the protector of vulnerable voters SADC's role is crucial regardless of opposition inaction or complicit actions. Therefore, the argument that opposition inaction bars SADC intervention is unconvincing."

Albert Einstein said insanity is repeating the same thing over and over again expecting a DIFFERENT result. Zimbabweans have been participating in flawed elections for 45 years expecting a DIFFERENT result - opposition winning rigged elections. I take it you accept that the voters are insane but, no doubt, will not accept “voters are fools”! I for one do not see the difference between insanity and fools.

Indeed, one should not even be concerned with such trivial details when there are other pressing matters such as stopping another rigged election.

Whilst Mugabe continued to ride roughshod over his own people denying them their freedoms and human rights and destroying the country's economic that did not stop him campaigning for a permanent seat in UN Security Council. Of course, he saw Zimbabwe as the ideal candidate to get that seat!
