“Is Zimbabwe heading for yet another rigged elections in 2028?”
That is a very good and relevant question.
“Yes!” Is the simple and honest answer.
Mnangagwa and Zanu PF blatantly rigged the 2023 elections. All the election observers including SADC and AU have condemned Zimbabwe’s 2023 election process as “flawed and illegal”.
“The SEOM (SADC Election Observer Mission) noted that, as detailed in sections 6 and 7 of this report, some aspects of the Harmonised Elections fell short of the requirements of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, the Electoral Act, and the SADC Principles and Guidelines Governing Democratic Elections (2021),” stated the SEOM 2023 report.
Alas! Zimbabwe has not implemented even one token democratic reform since the 2023 elections and there is very little hope of any reforms being implemented before the 2028 elections. The election ground rules have not change and there is nothing to suggest three main protagonists in this national political drama will behave any differently than they did in 2023 elections.
Mnangagwa and Zanu PF
Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF cronies’s hunger for absolute political power and the looted wealth it has brought them these last 45 years, is insatiable. Zimbabwe is a failed state, 45 years of gross mismanagement and rampant corruption have left the country in economic ruins. All talk of economic revival, much less the Vision 2030, is just that - talk, hot air. Everyone in Zanu PF knows free, fair and credible elections is a luxury they cannot afford.
Zanu PF will never implement any democratic reforms to ensure 2028 elections are free, fair and credible. Never!
Nelson Chamisa and his fellow opposition sellouts
Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC colleagues had the golden opportunity to implement the democratic reforms and thus end the Zanu PF dictatorship during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. Mugabe bribed them with the trappings of high office and in return they forgot about the reforms. And ever since the GNU debacle the MDC/CCC sell outs have participated in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed. And they have know this to be so all along!
“The (2013) electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility,” confessed David Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.
Millions of brain-dead opposition supporters
MDC/CCCC leaders have sold out on implementing reforms and got away with it because the party had the great fortune in having millions of party supporters who have no clue what the opposition leaders were elected to do. They did not know what the democratic changes, reforms, the nation was dying for were much less that the 2008 to 2013 GNU offered the best opportune to get the reform implemented. And so they have never understood that MDC/CCC leaders sold out in failing to implement even one token reform during the GNU.
Chamisa & co. have likewise taken advantage of their supporters’ ignorance and naivety to con them to participate in flawed and illegal elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy, opposition leaders a few gravy train seats whilst perpetuating the dictatorship and the nation’s suffering.
Chamisa & co. have conned the supporters with idiotic lies of having winning in rigged elections strategies (wires). These supporters have believed this lies even after 45 years of Zanu PF rigging elections; they are more than insane, they are brain-dead.
Chamisa took a sabbatical leave from politics last January and has just returned to active politics. It is as clear as day that millions of his Chamisa chete chete brigade members will believe his next idiotic wires lies and participate in the flawed 2028 elections.
Conclusion
Zimbabwe is a failed state, stuck with this corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF regime and its equally corrupt and useless MDC/CCC opposition side-kick for 45 years and counting. And all because we have failed to define what constitute free and fair elections in this day and age. Of course, we deserve to suffer and, until we learn, we will suffer.

Your problem is lack of common sense - a very common occurrence in Zimbabwe circles.
Zanu PF blatantly rigged the 2008 elections but did not get away with it. It has not occurred to you that if 44% of the voters who voted for Chamisa in the 2023 elections had boycotted the elections all the election observers including SADC and AU would have noticed it? Both SADC and AU condemned the election process as flawed and illegal and the boycott would have been proof that Zimbabweans themselves agree the election was a farce. Denying Zanu PF political legitimacy would have been a foregone conclusion.
CCC leaders not only participated in the flawed elections all those who did win took up their seats even after SADC and AU had condemned the electoral process. Add to that the nearly 2 million CCC supporters who participated in the flawed elections ignoring the repeated warning that participating will give Zanu PF legitimacy. So why are you then surprised that both SADC and AU did not deny Zanu PF legitimacy.

In his book Animal Farm, George Orwell, said Boxer, the stupid horse, took as long to learn the first four letter of the alphabet as other animals took to learn all 26 letters. He took just as long again to learn the next four letters and by then he had forgotten the first four!
Initially Chamisa had claimed that he had all the V11 from all the Polling Stations and promised to produce them but never did. A few months after the elections he admitted that he did not have election agents at all Polling Stations. When you are dealing with individuals with the intellect of Boxer the horse, they will be asking for V11 forms for everything and anything especially if it puts their demigod Chamisa in bad light; they remember nothing!
The worst thing we ever did was to give these brain-dead nincompoops the vote. Chamisa will have no problem conning Chineunyee & co. to participate in flawed 2028 elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and thus perpetuating the nation’s suffering. What a nightmare!

How naive! Zanu PF was forced into the 2008 Global Political Agreement because the party failed to get political legitimacy from AU and SADC following the 2008 elections. The party has since replaced the blatant one-party state with the multiparty facade. The days of 96% landslide victory are over. Zanu PF has moved on even if you have not!
Zanu PF has returned its carte blanche dictatorial powers to rig elections but has to allow the opposition to win some gravy train seats to maintain the multi-party facade to get legitimacy.
So you think CCC leaders were doing the nation a great favour participating in the flawed 2023 elections “to expose the flaws”! And yet even after both SADC and AU condemned the election process Fadzayi Mahere, David Coltart and all the other winning CCC leaders insisted on taking up their gravy train seats giving the process legitimacy!

Chamisa and his follower CCC leaders’ position was that people must participate in the flawed 2023 elections because “CCC will win big as he had plugged all the Zanu PF vote rigging loop holes.” He was lying to cover up for participating in the election he knew Zanu PF was rigging and that participating would give the regime legitimacy. He was participating regardless out of greed.
Neither Chamisa nor any of the CCC leaders have ever argued that they have been participating in these flawed elections “to expose the process is flawed”. They know that is foolish and unsustainable! With 52% and 44% of the votes, Zanu PF and CCC were the two major political parties in Zimbabwe in the 2023 elections. So if the two major parties are happy for the election to go ahead with the latter insisting that they have “plugged all the vote rigging loop holes” SADC and AU were powerless to stop the elections going ahead.
Both SADC and AU condemned the election process as flawed and illegal, confirming that whatever CCC had done to plugged the vote rigging had not worked. Even then both SADC and AU were right not to deny Zanu PF legitimacy since all parties knew that the act of participating will give the result legitimacy regardless how flawed process is judged to be.
The trouble with nincompoops like you is you are warned of the consequence of participating in flawed elections you ignore the warning. And when the result goes against you you want change the goal post changed. You cannot blame SADC and AU for your stupidity! Grow up. You cannot have your cake and eat it too!

ReplyDeleteZimbabwe is a failed state, more than 4 four decades of grodd mismanagement and rampant corruptions has left the country in economic ruins. Millions of our people are living in abject poverty and millions more have since left the country as economic and/or political refugee.
If there is one thing millions of Zimbabwean can own and help left them and the nation out of economic poverty it is land. Give the rural peasants title deeds to the 20 or so square metres of land on which their mud huts stand and they will have the confidence to build a decent house, grow fruit trees and improve their lives.
Zanu PF has resisted the demands to give rural folk title deed for 45 years and counting for selfish political reasons. This madness must be stop!

Zanu PF’s 1983 to 1987 Gukurahundi massacre was not about unity but stifling debate and democratic discourse to impose the de facto one-party dictatorship. It is shocking that even now with the benefit of hindsight some people still continue to confuse stifling uniformity with unity.
We should be united in our commitment to the rule of law, freedom of expression, that no one has the divine right to rule, that no one is above the law, that everyone has the right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country, etc. Robert Mugabe and his Zanu PF thugs have denied the people their right to free and fair elections under the guise the opposition threaten national unity, they are puppets of foreign nations seeking regime change, etc.
Mugabe got the unity he was clamouring for with the signing of the Zanu PF and PF Zapu unity accord in 1987. The promised economic development did not follow, indeed, the country’s economic decline has followed because there was no political accountability in the de facto one-party dictatorship. How anyone can still be fooled into confusing tyranny for unity beggars belief!

I accept Coltart’s explanation, it is consistent with the historic facts.

Some people have a knack for seeing what they want to see even to the point of falsifying reality! This is what has made it possible for them to defend those helping to perpetuate their own suffering, “to walk on sewage and think it normal” as Ian Smith predicted!
