Bona Mugabe alone got 21 farms yet millions peasants, supposed beneficiaries of Land Redistribution, got nothing W Mukori

If you asked most Zimbabweans out there today what the war of independence was about; most of them will say, “Land!”

Before independence the major would have said “One man, one vote!” but all political rights were kicked into the tail grass by Mugabe and his Zanu PF friends. They did not trust the people to vote them into power and so they made it clear in 1980 that if the party did not win the election the bush war would continue. Naturally, the people voted to end the war.

It was only in the late 1990s that the land issue took centre stage. By then the country’s once robust economy was now in serious trouble; the two decades of reckless spending on social welfare such as schools and health care but worst of all on political patronage to pamper his party loyalists was simply unsustainable. By the late 1990s Mugabe had no wealth to dish out, especially to his ever demanding but wasteful party loyalists, and so he turned to the one resource the nation still had in great abundance - land.

The worsen economic situation made the populous restless for meaningful political change and increasing popularity of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) opposition, launched in 1999, was no surprise.

Mugabe’s first clash with MDC was over the Zanu PF proposed 2000 new constitution in which the party’s notable give away was seizing land from white farmers to accelerate the black resettlement of programmes. MDC campaign for the rejection of the new constitution on the grounds it was not democratic. Zanu PF lost the referendum.

Zanu PF’s response to referendum defeat was to politicise the land issue by making land redistribution its flagship policy for the next two decades. The party accused the MDC, the white farmers and all it’s critics, especially the British and their western allies, of conspiring to frustrate land redistribution from the whites to the black majority.

The land issue always flared up during elections in the form of blacks, mostly war veterans and Zanu PF youths invading white owned farms accompanied headline grabbing gratuitous violence. The violence would spread to target MDC’s supporters who were accused of seeking regime change to end and reverse the farm seizures!

In the early years of the white farm invasions Zanu PF insisted the seized farms were to resettle the landless peasants in the overcrowded rural areas. The rural areas are still overcrowded to this day because very few peasants were ever resettled.

The Zanu PF ruling elite and their cronies were allocated the seized farms. “All blacks are entitled to land, under one person one farm!” the party announced.

After a few years it again became clear that some of the leaders had more than one farm. The latest information I had was that the late Robert Mugabe, his wife, daughter and two sons had 13 farms between them. Now I realise I had been misinformed.

Bona, Mugabe’s daughter, is divorcing her husband and the couple have 21 farms, 17 cars including a Rolls Royce worth US$ 800 000, 21 residential properties including a mansion in Dubai worth US$8 million plus a lot more besides.

So, Bona and her husband alone have 21 farms, nearly twice as many farms as the 13 the whole Mugabe family was rumoured to have.

It is a well documented historic fact that Zimbabwe’s agricultural sector collapsed, with it the economy, soon after the start of the farm seizures in 2000. The new farm owners, the Zanu PF ruling elite and the cronies, failed to maintain the productivity of the disposed white farmers.

Zimbabwe had prided herself as the breadbasket of the region before the farm seizures not only lost that acclaim but has often relied on food aid - so economic impoverish we could not even pay for it. Zimbabwe is, for all practical purposes, the Biblical Garden of Eden. We are starving in the Garden of Eden, a damning testimonial to failed leadership.

Zimbabwe has had the great misfortune of being led by corrupt, incompetent and murderous thugs who for the last 43 years and counting. The Zanu PF thugs have rigged elections denying the people a meaningful say in the governance of the govern for the last 43 years and counting.

The nation has had many opportunities to end the Zanu PF dictatorship in the 43 years since the country’s independence in 1980. The best chances coming during the 2008 to 2013 GNU and sadly these too were wasted. Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends who were entrusted the task of implementing the democratic reforms failed to get even one token reform implemented.

Mugabe bribed Tsvangirai and his MDC friends with the trappings of high office, the ministerial limo, the generous salary and allowances, a US$4 million mansion for Tsvangirai, etc., etc. And in return, the MDC leaders forgot about implementing the reforms.

The recent Al Jazeera Gold Mafia documentary shows how President Mnangagwa, who had no more white owned farms to seize and give again, has been looting the nation’s gold. We know the wholesale looting is happening with other resources such as diamonds and lithium.

It is no secret that Mnangagwa is filthy rich and so would be his wife and children. Rumour has it that Mnangagwa has a mansion in Dubai too. It is no wonder these Zanu PF thugs have been rigging elections and have even committed mass murders just to stay in power; when there is so much wealth to be amassed, giving up power is simply unthinkable.

Still, the nation must bite the bullet and demand the reforms and free elections because the present political system in which the few have grown filthy rich at the expense of millions forced to live in abject poverty is unsustainable. Zanu PF is rigging the 2023 elections we must make sure the regime does not get political legitimacy. We need a new GNU only this time, we must see to it that the democratic reforms are implemented.

Citizens Coalition for Change leader Nelson Chamisa's lawyer and close ally, Thabani Mpofu has refuted allegations that he was consulted by President Emmerson Mnangagwa after his legitimacy was challenged by Zanu-PF activist Sybeth Musengezi.

Mpofu was responding to allegations that he is being paid by the Mnangagwa camp in their battle for legitimacy against Musengezi.

Prior to allegations of being paid, one Ali Naka had uploaded a picture of a letter allegedly addressed to Mpofu from Mnangagwa's lawyers.

"Counsel is instructed to consider the Constitutional application and to assist in drafting opposing papers," read the letter.

The picture of the letter was captioned; "Good evening Advocate Thabani Mpofu. Village intelligence has provided evidence that Emerson Mnangagwa's lawyers consulted you on the Sybeth Musengezi case where he challenged Mnangagwa's legitimacy to lead Zanu-PF and Zimbabwe."

"How do you explain this when you are Nelson Chamisa's lawyer? How can the main opposition leader's lawyer work with his opponent's lawyers," queried Ali Naka on Twitter.

In response Mpofu said; "Everything else I will ignore but not lies. For the record, it's completely false and concocted imagination, that I acted, in any way, for Mnangagwa against Sybeth Musengezi.

"As regards my professional duties, I dutifully yield to my oath of office”.

Mpofu became a darling to many following his role in representing Chamisa after the disputed 2018 elections.

His allegiance to the opposition was thrown into question following a debate on the legality of the November 2017 coup that toppled late former President Robert Mugabe from power.

The legality of the events in November 2017, drew observations from occurrences and rulings from 1965 during the Unilateral Declaration of Independence era.

The resurfaced coup debate drew many sentiments, including comments from former Cabinet Minister Jonathan Moyo who argued against the judgments by Chief Justice Luke Malaba and Justice Chiweshe.

"This is more so given that Chiweshe's ‘Consent Order' was confirmed in the ConCourt by Chief Justice Malaba sitting alone in his Chambers without hearing Mugabe in July 2018 when he ruled – in a case in which he denied ConCourt access to Liberal Democrats & Ors to challenge the legality of the 2017 coup – that ‘Mugabe resigned freely and voluntarily on 21 November 2017'; hence there was no coup.

"Malaba's solo confirmation of Chiweshe's ‘Consent Order' was therefore flabbergasting. This is because Justice Chiweshe's ‘Consent Order' – which Malaba purported to confirm – acknowledged that there was a coup and ‘legalised' it by 'consent' between the parties [who outrageously were said to include Mugabe himself] that the same ‘consenting' Mugabe had ‘abdicated his constitutional function'," Moyo said.

He who pays the piper calls the tune!

In Zimbabwe the moral decay is such many sell their own mothers for a price and even boast that had a mother to sell. Things are not always that simple; the opposition, his lawyer and judge, etc. are not always independent. In Zimbabwe it will come as no surprise they are all answerable to the one and same corrupting master to whom they are all answerable!

The conduct of the 2018 election result Constitutional Court challenge is so bizarre there is no doubt there were certain areas and questions it was agree in advance would not be asked. And all parties dutifully obliged. It is strange that 12 Polling Stations were noted to have identical results in all respects, for example, why Chamisa and his team failed to demand that the sealed ballot boxes from these Polling Station must be opened.

The judges themselves could and should have ordered that the boxes be opened, after all this was more than just a personal matter; it was a national one.

Every one knew the duplicate results were double entries, there second Polling Station did not exist and so too was the duplicate ballot box. Knowing is one thing but having that conform in another. It was agreed before hand that no-one will ask for the imaginary ballot boxes to be opened!

“With or without legitimacy the monster doesn't respect the law.”

I you think by participating in flawed elections to give vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy you are forcing the regime to respect the law?

You clearly do not what constitute free and fair elections, what is a flawed and illegal election process and have contempt of the law. You don’t care the elections are rigged as long as you are declared the winner!

There is no difference between CCC and Zanu PF, they both have no clue what constitute free elections and have contempt of the law! If Zimbabweans are serious about democracy and rule of law they should look to others and not these two!

  5. PRESIDENTIAL spokesperson George Charamba says government has written to Qatari news network, Al Jazeera demanding evidence of gold smuggling and money laundering alleged in its investigative documentary which aired last month.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his wife Auxillia in particular, were placed at the centre of gold smuggling and money laundering activities by syndicates operating in southern Africa following a two-year investigation by Al Jazeera's investigative unit.

The documentary, aired between March and April, centred on a secret recording of Mnangagwa's ambassador-at-large Uebert Angel — born Uebert Mudzanire — and his associates promising to help undercover Al Jazeera journalists launder US$1,2 billion in dirty money.

Charamba shared a letter by the Ghanaian government on Twitter demanding an apology and a retraction after that country's President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's name was dragged into the Gold Mafia documentary.

"The Zimbabwe government has, in similar fashion, asked from Al Jazeera documents supporting its malicious allegations against persons and institutions here. To date, nothing has come from Al Jazeera," Charamba posted on Twitter under the pseudonym Tinoedza Zvimwe.

Contacted for comment, Charamba said: "How do I trust to give you a story when you can't read something which is in black and white?"

Ghana presidential secretary Nana Bediatuo Asante shared the letter on Twitter, which claimed that the documentary had made baseless claims against that country's leader.

The west African nation demanded an apology within seven days.

This is just a regime that has been caught red-handed and is doing what it knows best - deny everything.

Most of the individuals named in the documentary are Zimbabweans and are in the country. A lifestyle audit would reveal their amassed wealth was not pay for from their official 9 to 5 paid jobs. They should be asked to explain where they got their money from?

Of course, the regime will never ask any of these filthy rich individuals to explain the source of the wealth; we all know it is from corruption and looting. The regime does not want to prosecute anyone, even the small fish for fear of opening the proverbial pandora’s box.

Even the small fish like Uebert Angel, his net-worth is US$60 million which is nothing compare to the big fish like Mnangagwa himself, knows a lot of dirty to sink the big fish. Squeeze him and there will be no shutting him up once he starts squealing like a cornered pig!

These gangsters live and die by a simple rule - when in trouble, make sure you do not go down alone! Take down as many others as you can, they would do the same to you. Indeed, you are going down because some one let you down!

“@Wilbert Mukori Smith was defeated without the so called reforms. No dictator my learned friend will reform themselves out of power. Endai kumusha kwenyu kwaGutu and conscience the masses and help demystify zvavanonyeperwa about voting. When the time comes with or without reforms the dictator will one day go. Mugabe father is gone next are the offsprings.”

Yes Mugabe was booted out but did that change anything? We only replace one dictator with another.

Even if CCC was to win big in these 2023 elections, do you think that will be enough to transform Zimbabwe into a free, just and democratic nation? Of course, not! Look at what happened in other countries like Zambia when KK left or Malawi when Kamuzu Banda left. Nothing changed. The countries replace a dictator with a mediocre government at the very best.

If Zimbabwe does not implement the democratic reforms, neither Zanu PF nor CCC will do this because they have both failed to do it, then Zimbabwe will become just another country ruled by corrupt and mediocre leaders. Elections will be just a revolving door of corrupt and useless regime replacing each other interspaced with dictatorships.

You have no clue what the reforms are about much less how they are implemented and it is no surprise you are convinced the country does not need reforms! You are not alone in your ignorance and naivety, many Zimbabweans out there too have no clue. The tragedy for Zimbabwe is that fools like you have the vote and hence the reason why nation is well and truly stuck!

With no reforms Zimbabwe will never have free, fair and credible elections and therefore never have a competent government led by individuals with some common sense at the very least. Without reforms, Zimbabwe is going nowhere you nincompoop!

“If CCC were to win elections with a playing field so uneven, do we think they will implement reforms to loosen their grip on power. I believe they will tighten the screws because they know the system can be beat.”

Exactly! Indeed, MDC leaders jumped the gunner, they thought they had done enough to win the 2013 elections implementing any reforms would be undermining their own hold on power. They keep participating in these flawed elections because the believe what the Zanu PF double agents tell them - this time you will win big!

At least Chamisa and his fellow leaders get something from winning the bait gravy train seats. I feel sorry for the idiotic public who are conned to participate only to give Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuate their own suffering. But until these people open their eyes and minds there will be no escape out of this hell-on-earth of our own making.

We certainly do not deserve a good government because we have done nothing to earn such a government. Nothing!

“What are the KEY reforms needed NOW - that’s what we should be expending our energy on NOW - there is no need obsessing ourselves on GNU failure.”

Any one calling for reforms NOW does not have a clue what the reforms are much less how they are implemented. There are like a child asking why he cannot plant a mango tree and harvest the fruit there and then! Why expending one’s energy planting the tree if he cannot benefit from his labour?

Let the boy go home because he clearly does not want to have anything to do with planting of the tree. There is important work to be done - planting the tree - do it.

I think we have wasted a lot of time and energy explaining what reforms are, how they are to be implemented and how they tie in with the GNU. There are some who want reforms implemented right now or “forever hold your peace!” Others will never accept that MDC leaders sold out on reforms and are selling out in participating in these flawed elections.

We cannot stop Zanu PF rigging these 2023 elections or stop CCC participating out of greed. What we can do is making sure everyone including the Village Intelligentsia (new meaning of VIs) know the elections are a farce and why CCC are participating. There international community, especially SADC leaders, too must know there are a few Zimbabweans, at least, who KNOW these elections are a waste of time and Zanu PF must be denied legitimacy. We have important work to do and should get on with it without further ado!

If the boy thinks he can plant a tree and harvest fruit from it the same day, then he should go ahead and plant that tree. If people believe there are reforms that can be implemented now, be my guest; implement the reforms! Frankly, I don’t even want to know what those reforms are because I have better things to do!

  9. hikore said he had AED 1 300 000 cash stashed in Dubai and US$760 000 from weddings, bank accounts withdrawals, farm operations and sales and cash from farm operations (US$129 000).

He also exposed how much they obtained under command agriculture.

He said they jointly have the following liabilities: farm command loan (US$864 000), Seed Co's debt for seed maize (US$18 000), and Prudential Investment for children's college fees (US$15 000).

"The parties currently at their farm have purchased the following inputs using the loans acquired for farming, CAN fertiliser 419 bags, Compound D 1200 bags and Cereal Blend 790 bags, cotton fertilizer 998 bags, Compound D 1 120 bags, Compound Maize fertilizer 442 bags, CAN fertilizer (pilled) 310 bags, Compound L 84 bags," Chikore submitted.

He also included properties sold to meet the operations of the farm worth millions of dollars. The couple also has immovable property valued at more than US$19 million.

There are those who have wanted to believe the land redistribution was about giving land to the landless peasants. The rural areas are still full of landless peasants eking off the arid and overcrowded land. Meanwhile others others have 21 farms!

“One man, one farm!” My foot!

  10. Cleopas Chidodo profusely pleaded for forgiveness to the Former First lady, Grace Mugabe for lying to Al Jazeera that she was the architect of smuggling ivory out of the country.

"I wish to render my unconditional apology to Dr Grace Mugabe, the Former First lady and the Former First family for the falsehoods I mentioned about them in the said episode", pleaded Chidodo.

The apology seems to have done more harm than good to Chidodo with analysts asking why the apology was specifically directed to Grace Mugabe while Chidodo literally said smuggling at the Airport was like a walk in the park.

The nation has just learning that Bona Chikore and her husband have amassed a huge fortune including a mansion in Dubai worth US$8 million. Of course, they did not earn the fortune legally and smuggling ivory, gold, diamonds and other precious jewels would certain have been one way they earn the fortune.

It is laughable that Chidodo should be grovelling and apologising to the Mugabes for revealing their looting activities but has said nothing to the ordinary Zimbabweans whose wealth, hopes and dreams were looted.

The people of Zimbabwe really need to open their eye and minds to what is going on here or they will have no future. We are helpless but only because we choose to be helpless, we refuse to apply ourselves, we refuse to think! And here is a looter apologising to his fellow looters because he knows they matter more than us the victims of their criminal activities!

  11. The late former president Robert Mugabe son-in-law Simba Mutsahuni Chikore is content to literally walk away from the matrimonial home with a paltry share because all he has claimed is 50 percent of their two upmarket houses, and a stand in Chishawasha, 50 percent shares of their one farm plus a third of the total value of cars and leave the rest assets of the mega empire to Bona Mugabe and children, his lawyer has said.

Though he listed a staggering list of the residential properties and farms owned by the family, the former pilot, insists his lawyer, Mr Rogers Matsikidze, is claiming just a paltry of the mega empire, as explained in his counter claim filed at the High Court last week.

On her own, Bona Mugabe is a high-net-worth individual having acquired the properties before and during the marriage through donations or inheritance.

The amassed wealth is sicken for two reasons:
it was amassed at the expense of the impoverished masses. If the wealth had been used for the good of the nation for example invested in building power generation plant how much better off would the nation be.

The wealth from the wholesale loot was used to bankroll Zanu PF’s corruption and vote rigging activities and thus compounding the nation’s problems. The corrupting influence of the ruling elite and their wealth will be very difficult to end and will remain in the nation for generations to come.

  12. Some quarters were even hinting Bona could make a comeback for the Mugabes and serve in elected public office because of her down-to-earth public persona.

After this expose, is she still the same in the eyes of the public? Apparently Bona is all set for life with a vast empire of value-appreciating properties.

This comes in the wake of a major expose of contemporary leaders and proteges allegedly amassing vast sums of money through siphoning gold resources out of the country nicodemously. It puts paid to the notion that the majority of Zimbabwean politicians are only interested in accumulation of personal wealth and creating personal fiefdoms where they behave as they want without accountability to the public.

The nation is on tenterhooks as the Bona's divorce proceedings play out in court. For all we know, Bona was educated in China at Manchester City University and Mugabe was in attendance on her graduation in the gallery. Little is known of her work life and business interests but without a doubt she has shot to the roof top as Harare's rich aunty. Not the loud-mouthed social media socialites going to town over cheap cars, cosmetics and flamboyant apparel imported from Dubai.

It is bad enough that anyone let alone a nation should allow itself to be robbed blind. In the case of Zimbabwe we have allowed ourselves to be robbed blind time and time again for the last 43 years. As much as the world would want to help the long suffering Zimbabweans, one must be discouraged by the fact that we Zimbabweans have done precious little to stop all this wholesale looting of the nation’s treasure by the ruling elite!

Like it or not if Zimbabwe is ever to get out of this mess then we, Zimbabweans, have to do something to end all this criminal waste of the country’s human and material resources. We are helpless but only because we choose to be helpless!

  13. Zimbabwe has been in the headlines world wide again and again and all for the wrong reasons. Last month it was over the Al Jazeera Gold Mafia documentary and now its over Bona Mugabe and her husband's vast fortune - few Holly Wood movie stars can compete! Zimbabwe's ruling elite have become rotten with corruption and filthy rich.

What makes the wealth of our filthy rich few particularly distasteful is that it was made at the expense of the millions languishing in abject poverty. The ruling elite are supposed to be in public office to serve the masses and yet here they not only hold the masses back but do so for the sole purpose of exploiting them.

The people have risked life and limb to elect MDC/CCC leaders for the primary purpose of bring the democratic changes to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections. Sadly MDC/CCC leaders have failed to bring about any meaningful changes. Indeed, since the 2008 to 2013 GNU MDC/CCC have been participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and thus perpetuating the dictatorship - the everything they were supposed to end!

Implementing the democratic reforms and earn ourselves good governance and a future is not a Herculean task. Indeed, the solutions are there tried, passed and refined, all we need to do it adapt and apply. We are not being asked to reinvent the wheel. What is the problem!!!!

Zimbabwe is not getting out of this hell-on-earth until we learn and take the task of reforms and good governance with the seriousness and urgency the matter demands!

  14. TOP economist and former opposition legislator Eddie Cross has claimed that former First Lady Grace Mugabe has over US$5 billion hidden in Europe.

Speaking on a podcast, Friday Drinks, Cross said he had read an American report that alleged Grace had amassed billions of dollars from diamond and fuel deals in the country.

Grace was recently accused of smuggling diamonds and ivory out of the country without her late husband former President Robert Mugabe's knowledge.

"The Americans know where all the money is, I have seen an American report which says how much money Grace Mugabe has got and where it is.

"US$5.3 billion and it's in Europe and the Europeans know where it is," revealed Cross.

Bona Mugabe's estranged husband Simba Chikore made headlines this week after listing property worth US$58 million including 21 farms in their divorce row.
Chikore listed 21 farms in which he claims an interest and more than 25 upmarket residential properties valued at over US$50m.

The Dubai Mansion worth about US$8m was thrown into the array of properties.

Zimbabweans were seething with anger over the ridiculous amassing of wealth with most questioning the source of the wealth took to social media to express anger and frustrations over revelations.

Political pressure group Team Pachedu, said the amount of the land listed in the divorce was enough to house  1.2 million 200 square meter stands.

"Bona Mugabe owns 24717.19 Hectares of land and this is equivalent to 247.17 million square meters.

"This is enough to fit 1.2 million 200 square meter stands being dished out by ED. ED recently dished out only 265 stands. Bona alone owns 1.2 million of those," said the group on Twitter.

In the Zanu PF regime it is raining cats and dogs! Every thing is falling apart, the centre is rotten to the core.

Many Zimbabweans are asking themselves, how is it possible that this nation is being ruled by such buffoons? They rig elections, is of course the answer, the obvious answer!

  18. We cannot stop Zanu PF going ahead with the elections and we cannot stop CCC participating in the flawed elections. What we can and must do is make sure everyone including the Village Intelligentsia know the elections are being rigged and the opposition have lost all political credibility and therefore Zanu PF must be denied political legitimacy. A flawed election process plus discredited opposition cannot produce a legitimate result. Never!

  19. Are the British welcoming Mnangagwa to the coronation of King Charles III because they are comfortable with Mnangagwa as President of Zimbabwe? Not necessarily but the British have to ask themselves "If not Mnangagwa, who else?"

  20. British legislators also slammed Mnangagwa for presiding over what they described as a corrupt administration and impoverishing millions.

Sources in London said Mnangagwa was likely to fly into raging storms as he returns to the UK for the second time since his dramatic rise to power in 2017.

Before that, his predecessor, the late former president Robert Mugabe and many members of his inner circle had been declared persona non grata in Zimbabwe's former colonial power.

Zimbabwe is a failed state ruled by corrupt, incompetent and murderous thugs who have remained in power these last 43 years only because they rig elections. Zanu PF is rigging the 2023 elections and CCC are participating to give the regime legitimacy out of selfish greed.

Yes Zanu PF imposed the dictatorship on the nation but it must be said that MDC/CCC have played their part in helping the regime stay in power by selling out on reforms. The people of Zimbabwe have been slow in realising the reality on the ground and until the penny drops there will be no meaningful change. None!

  21. Mavaza, this must be a welcome break for you after all the Al Jazeera Gold Mafia scandal and you defending the indefensible! But of course, I would not be surprised if Mnangagwa used this trip to smuggle gold and/or dirty money. "Zimbabwe is open for business!" smuggling gold, dirty money, diamonds, ivory, lithium, etc., etc.

Grace Mugabe has US$5 billion somewhere in Europe according to Eddie Cross. Given your strong political connections, it will be no surprise if you are managing some of this loot!

Still these must be worrying days for a Zanu PF apologists like you. Zanu PF is rigging these 2023 elections and CCC is participating out of greed. The worry is Zanu PF will NOT get legitimacy since the election process is flawed, so flawed ZEC has failed to produce something as basic a verified voters' roll, and CCC have lost political credibility! The demise of Zanu PF is the demise of the apologists!

What democratic reform would stop this.
What additional law is needed to stop these thugs.
They are going against already in place existing laws.

Anyone who knows what the reforms are and how they are implemented, God knows they should know by now after all man-years we have spent of the subject, would not be asking any of these questions. It is too late to implement reforms now, so what is point asking what reforms will stop the rigging!

The only effective reform is Komatsu grader.
How can you control people who are capable of doing COUP - they will coup every law put in place.

Who has or is stopping CCC using the Komatsu Grader?
How did the “people capable of doing COUP” stop the implementation of even one toke reform during the GNU?

To call and blame absence of reforms is a fundamental oversight of root problem - the people holding power are unlegislatable.

MDC had the golden opportunity to implement the democratic reforms during the GNU, it was our get-out-of-jail card, and they wasted it. MDC/CCC are participating in these elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed. These are the historic facts. It is hard for some people are accept facts just as it is hard for some people to accept that we, humans evolved from an ape! It is foolish arguing about historic facts just to be agreeable!

  23. "While our client has maintained that your clients ‘stole' vast amounts of State land, the confirmation of the extent has only become apparent from their own pleadings that in Carrick Creagh alone, they took State land amounting to 213 794 sqm," Jiti Law Chambers said in a letter dated May 4 addressed to Chikore's lawyers, Matsikidze Attorneys At Law.

"In fact, it is government policy that one individual cannot receive more than one residential stand within the same local authority from the State.

"How your clients were able to circumvent that policy requires further investigation from the relevant authorities."

The lawyers added: "We advise that the Carrick Creagh Estate stands are not owned by either of your clients.

"It is State land, which prior to the cancellation of the fraudulently acquired title deeds, were owned by Navline Investments (Private) Limited and Montshow Enterprises (Private) Limited.

The Mugabes are above the law, at least were above the law whilst the late dictator was in office. Now that the dictator is dead and the party’s hold on power is waning as the people demand an end to the corruption and tyranny it is clear Bona Mugabe will be booted off these farms and properties. The ruling elite’s insatiable greed is often they down fall!

“Okay let’s look at how ZEC Riggs , they can just announce fake results just like 2018 I Mash Central.

The problem there is not necessarily lack of electoral reforms but rather opposition should field more polling agents and ensure their safety.

Otherwise this argument of reforms especially from your Angel is a woken straw man.”

The 2008 elections were a watershed elections in that Zanu PF showed the full extend of its vote-rigging prowess. SADC leaders acknowledged this fact and hence the reason why they proposed the 2008 to 2013 GNU whose primary purpose was to implement the democratic reforms designed to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections.

The very fact that you and your CCC friends think deploying “more polling agents to safe guard the result” will be enough to guarantee free, fair and credible elections only goes to show you have no clue on the extend of Zanu PF’s vote rigging powers. Even now with the benefit of hindsight, you have no clue what the GNU was about. NONE!

“Your shallow fallacies display how you don’t understand electoral politics visa vis the legislative component.

You can't be saying what you said there. Unoda reform yei pakuti ZEC doctored V23 forms 🤷🏾‍♂️
All you need are agents panzvimbo and protect them. So that you can have the real results on time. The only thing to argue for is timely publishing of results.

You assume to understand so much about the GNU yet you lack clue of the things you associate it with.”

Well one of us is definitely very shallow, that is obvious!

Tell me, educate me! If the democratic reforms had been implemented to guarantee the independence of ZEC, for example, would you agree we would have a verified voters’ roll, would not have to worry about “doctored V23 forms”, etc.?

Zanu PF is going to frogmarch rural voters to vote for Zanu PF, Mnangagwa and Mohadi have been boasting about this already. Would you agree that there is nothing the polling agents will do in this case as the damage is already done?

After 43 years of rigged elections, it is insane that we are being dragged into yet another utterly pointless election process just because some people do not have the common sense to admit the election process is flawed. How anyone can expect to have free, fair and credible elections without something as basic as a verified voters’ roll beggars belief! And the anyone claims he/she is wiser than King Solomon! Fcuk me!

“A lot of sense and meaning is lost or hidden by the use of the generalised blanket term ‘Implement Reforms’
Any VI can shout ‘We need Reforms’ and sound politically astute but become detail deficient when pressed to provide specifics.

    So the question is
What one reform would have stood the test of time from GNU past COUP to the present

Let’s talk specifics to convey strong messages.”

This is just another one of those utterly pointless discussions, starting nowhere and ending nowhere else.

Who ever said there is “one reform” which would have stopped the 2017 military coup?

Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends had five years to implement the reforms and the failed to implement even one token reform.

The task before us is to make sure Zanu PF does not get legitimacy at the end of this 2023 elections by making sure everyone knows the elections are rigged and CCC are participating out of greed and therefore have no political credibility. We don’t have time to waste on trivial matters!

  27. Twenty-one youths from Mashonaland West Province received A2 Permits under the Presidential 10ha Scheme that seeks to mainstream the participation of youths in agriculture and form a key pillar in the transition of land holders from subsistence to commercial farming.

The beneficiaries are the first batch to receive the A2 Permits out of a targeted 74 youths in the province.

This is in fulfilment of President Mnangagwa's youth economic empowerment initiative, the Provincial Youth Integrated Hubs launched in the Midlands Province on January 7, 2022.

Jubilant beneficiaries hailed President Mnangagwa and his Government for honouring pledges made last year.

Ms Ketty Chanetsa said the Government had given her somewhere to start from and she looked forward to contributing towards the country's drive towards food sufficiency.

"I am ecstatic and grateful at the same time for what President Mnangagwa has done for us as youths," said Ms Chanetsa.

It took a year to grant 21 youths A2 10 ha farms. 2 100 plus youths per year would happily accept this opportunity because only 2% of the thousands graduating up and down the country ever get formal employment per year. So this scheme is only helping 1%.

Given that those with the right political connections like Bona have 21 farms with the smallest of which being 101 ha there is probably very few farms left to give away!

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. After 43 years of Zanu PF blatantly rigging the elections, it is insane to believe CCC will win big this time when there is not an iota of evidence of that.

CCC are participating in these election knowing fully well the Zanu PF is rigging elections and that participating will only give Zanu PF legitimacy. But most important of all they know that Zanu PF is giving away a few gravy train seats to entice the opposition to participate - a bribe they cannot resist.

But of course, CCC leaders will never ever admit they are participating in these flawed elections out of greed. They pretend the party is going to win big!

Insanity is to let CCC bully, bamboozle and bounce you into believing the any of the CCC’s pathetic claims and feeble excuses for participating in these flawed elections to cover their greed. Zanu PF is rigging these elections who can anyone fail to see what their can see with their own eyes!

After 43 years of rigged elections, we should at least have the common sense to know the system is not working, to know winning rigged elections is an oxymoron, to know if we want a free, democratic Zimbabwe we must first implement the reforms and restore the rule of law.

Participating in these flawed elections is not only to accept chaos and lawlessness but to perpetuate it. Enough of this nonsense!

“Every team normally has home and away scenarios. The same with Zanu a rural party and CCC yeku location.”

So those in the urban centre, whom Zanu PF cannot corral and frogmarch to attend Zanu PF rally, are accepting the status quo and abandon the rural voters to the Zanu PF thuggery.

The urban voters do not even have the common sense to see their own vote is not as secure as they think. Many urban voters will find their names are not on the voters’ roll. Zanu PF will bus in rural voters into urban areas to vote, etc.

As a matter of fact, Zanu PF is quite happy with the arrangement because it has delivered a Zanu PF majority and the presidency. And we have all paid the price of 43 years of this corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship, including the privileged urban voters!

The destiny of Zimbabwe is decided by Zimbabweans by allowing Zanu PF to rig the elections we all lose, rural and urban voters. Winning the few urban seats will not change Zimbabwe’s destiny.

Rural voters too are entitled to a meaningful say in the governance of the country. Of course, it is foolish to think we can have a healthy and functioning democratic Zimbabwe in which some people are nothing more than medieval serfs beholden to a tyrannical few!

Why it is so difficult to see the folly of participating in these flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy is the biggest mysteries here. But then, it is not all who see who perceive; not all who hear who understand. We can talk about flawed elections, reforms, etc. for the next decade; some people will not be any wiser. What is obvious to some is a complete mystery to others!

“We need to come up with a position on what we see as the best foot forward for us as a country (and beyond).”

Our best foot forward position will come from accepting the reality on the ground, accepting what we can change and having the courage and wisdom to change it.

reality: Zanu PF is rigging these elections, MDC/CCC sold out by failing to implement even one token reform and are selling out by participating in the flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and we have ordinary Zimbabweans participating to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of ignorance, desperation and/or fear.

what cannot change: we cannot stop Zanu PF rigging 2023 elections, it is too late to implement reforms. We cannot stop CCC participating, we have no cure for greed and incompetence.

What we can change: We can educate the masses on the folly of participating in these flawed elections and we can make sure SADC leaders have no excuse for granting Zanu PF legitimacy.

We are wasting time on 1) and 2) and have done little on 3). Some people don’t even know what the reforms are, that primary purpose of the GNU was to implement reforms, etc. and hence the reason they will never accept MDC sold out in failing to implement reforms. How can they blame MDC leaders for failing to implement something they themselves don’t know.

“Let’s clear the ‘gravy train seats ‘ notion first.

The message accepts - Zanu is making efforts to win the urban seats by hook or crook.
So they do not hold the ‘give away’ powers on the urban seats.”

The single most important lesson Mugabe and Zanu PF learned from 2008 to 2013 GNU was that the party could keep its carte blanche dictatorial powers including the power to rig elections if it can rig the elections and yet maintain the facade Zimbabwe is a healthy multi-party democracy. What could be better at keeping up the multiparty appearance than making sure the opposition participate in the elections no matter how flawed the process gets by making sure the opposition win some seats. This is exactly what Coltart is saying in the quotation below.

“The worst aspect for me about the failure to agree a coalition was that both MDCs couldn’t now do the obvious – withdraw from the (2013) elections,” confessed Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.

“The electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility.”

The elections will NEVER become so flawed and illegal for Zanu PF to have a clean sweep; the party knows that and so does the opposition!

Again, we are wasting time on historic facts when we should be spending on changing what we can change.
