Chamisa resorting to double-Dutch to sell autocratic CCC – anything to avoid demanding Truss vs Sunak democratic slug P Guramatunhu

"It (CCC party structures) is a dead issue, a non-issue really," Chamisa said. "We are introducing fresh politics and new culture and, of course, it will have a new structure carrying within it new strategies,” Nelson Chamisa told The NewsHawks.

"Those who believe in old ways will get lost in locating the new us. The new is centred around the citizens. This is not from the ordinary citizens, but from other quarters and those quarters are detached from reality and those quarters are detached from citizen struggles."

This is just double Dutch rhetorical nonsense!

Chamisa is claiming that it is the citizens’ desire to have no constitution, no party structures, hold no party congress, etc. He still insists that CCC is a democratic party and it is the people who are making all the decisions. This beggars the question; how the people are making these decisions to have no constitution, etc. and communicating them to him when without these basic party structural frame work the people have no meaningful.

The party constitution and structure are as important to giving people a meaningful say a healthy and functioning democracy as a voice box, ears and common language is to effective communication.

After four decades of corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF misrule the nation is yarning for a political system in which the ordinary citizen’s freedoms and rights, including the right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country, are restored. Chamisa knows this and is offering a democratic CCC party make a big song and dance, in typical Mugabe style, and yet making sure CCC is an autocracy and remains an autocracy.

Chamisa has no wish to make CCC a truly people’s party in which all the leaders are democratically accountable to the party members and the public at large. The prospect of him having to fight a leadership battle the same way Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak are slugging it out for the leadership of the Conservative Party, scares the hell out of Chamisa. It is not surprising, given his MDC track record of corruption and breath-taking incompetence – the party failed to implement even one reform in 22 years, 5 of which in the GNU, for Pete’s sake.

What Chamisa is failing to understand is he cannot have his cake and eat it too. CCC, as it is presently constituted is a one-man band, an autocracy, in which he and alone makes all the decisions, calls all the shots. It is deceitful, to say the least, to present the autocratic CCC as a democratic party.

The chef can get away with passing mutton for lamb but not so with hot chilli for tomato.

But knowing Nelson Chamisa and company as we all do, they are renowned for defending the indefensible, we will have hot chilli, autocratic CCC, shoved down our throats, for many moons to come. A truly democratic CCC is a luxury Chamisa et al can ill afford; just as implementing reforms and holding free and fair elections is a luxury Emmerson Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF cronies can ill afford.

A number of Zimbabweans are finding Chamisa’s insistence on calling CCC a people’s party insulting because they can see with their own eyes that it is not. A few more have gone one more step further and are questioning CCC’s insistence on participating in flawed and illegal elections only to give Zanu PF legitimacy.

With each passing day, more and more Zimbabweans are realising the seriousness of the situation Zimbabwe is in; stuck with the corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship and, instead of helping to end the dictatorship, the corrupt and incompetent MDC/CCC is the one helping Zanu PF stay in power by selling out on reforms and insisting on participating in flawed elections.

Zimbabweans are a naïve and gullible lot; it took them 20 years to admit Robert Mugabe and his Zanu PF cronies were corrupt and murderous tyrants. It has taken 22 years and counting for Zimbabweans to finally figure out that MDC/CCC are corrupt, incompetent and utterly useless. That the so called democratic CCC party is just another autocracy.

  1. In a statement, CCC spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere said the by-elections were a litmus test proving that Zec was still far from meeting the requirements that guarantee credible polls.

"The electoral environment in Zimbabwe is far from free and fair," she said.
"Key recommendations by observer missions have not been implemented. The electoral playing field has become worse, very uneven as shown by the by-elections where incidents of political persecution, targeted arrests, abductions and political murders have increased exponentially.

"We continue to put the international community on notice that there is need to ensure that there are long-term observer missions in addition to short-term observers to mitigate against the electoral malpractices that are already at play."

Recently, data analysts unearthed various irregularities on the voters roll, which include people registered under the same address being registered in different wards, while thousands were removed from the roll.

Mahere demanded a credible voters roll from Zec for parties to inspect before the 2023 polls.
This is all just meaningless political posturing and grandstanding by CCC! Everyone knows that Chamisa and company will continue participating in these elections even without something as fundamental as a verified voters’ roll. Of course, CCC leaders know that Zanu PF is rigging these elections. They also know that by participating they will be giving Zanu PF legitimacy. They are participating regardless because they also know that Zanu PF is giving away a few urban gravy train seats – that is all they care about!

MDC has failed to implement even one reform in 22 years; they have given up on reforms and ever since the GNU debacle, they have been fighting their colleagues in the opposition over the few seats Zanu PF has been giving away to entice the opposition to participate. It is very sad that Zimbabweans are not even aware MDC/CCC are now they ones keeping Zanu PF in power. It is sad that a whole nation can be so easily conned. Very sad indeed!

  2. Speaking during the opening session, committee chairperson Naledi Pandor said it was gratifying that most elections in the region were credible and democratic.

"As we reflect on the progress of the implementation of decisions of the 23rd ministerial council, it is pleasing to note that 81% of the MCO decisions were implemented by the secretariat and member States. This, without doubt, contributes to strengthening the overall efforts in consolidating our goal to achieve peace and stability in the region," Pandor said.

"It is, therefore, gratifying to note that Sadc as a region continues to conduct democratic, transparent, fair, peaceful and credible elections within the dictates of member States' legislation and the Sadc Principles and Guidelines Governing Democratic Elections.

"The Republic of Angola and the Kingdom of Lesotho will hold national elections in August 2022 and October 2022, respectively. We wish our fellow members a peaceful election in this regard. The Sadc electoral observer missions, as is practice, will be deployed in conformity with the Sadc Principles and Guidelines Governing Democratic Elections.”
Another social commentator Effie Ncube said: "Sadc is wilfully blind to the economic and political crises in Zimbabwe, notwithstanding the fact that the 2023 elections will have huge implications for the region. As we speak, the conditions for free and fair elections do not exist.
Zimbabwe’s economic and political mess is certainly one of our own making as Zimbabweans; Sadc did facilitate the 2008 to 2013 GNU and all we had to do was to implement the reforms. MDC, who were given the task of implementing the reforms, failed to implement even one reform. People like Effie Ncube are right in saying the conditions for free and fair elections do not exist but why is it that they do not ask why MDC/CCC keeps insisting on participating in these flawed elections. By participating MDC/CCC is giving Zanu PF legitimacy!
And we all know why MDC failed to implement reforms during the GNU and is participating in these flawed elections – greed! The nation’s hopes of ending the dictatorship, dragging the nation to the every edge of the abyss, is being sold for 30 pieces of silver by the very people masquerading as the change champions!
In 2018, as with so many times in the past, Sadc endorse Zimbabwe’s rigged elections as “substantially free and fair” when the nation had failed to produce something as basic as a verified voters’ roll.
Sadc itself has played a key role in giving Zanu PF political legitimacy regardless of the party’s record of repeatedly failing to hold free and fair elections. This has become Zimbabwe’s greatest curse and one we must now address as a matter of urgency. The very idea that Sadc can continue to keep Zanu PF in power by granting the regime legitimacy is totally unacceptable!

  3. @ Mutambara
3.For the elites who are connected & have access, you dont have to involve your hard earned USD in the first part of the transaction You take your RTGS to the RBZ & buy the USD at the auction rate, say 320 You take these ill-gotten USD to the parallel market and buy RTGS at 950
    4. That’s a profit of 200%. Then you go and buy your gold coins at 100% profit as explained before. So the potential benefit to the elites (the connected) is as follows: Start with 10 000 USD it becomes 30 0000 USD then it becomes 60 000 USD. From 10k USD to 60k USD.
    5. WITH NO PRODUCTION. 500% PROFIT! This is quite a self-enrichment scheme for the elites. Just to clarify: To get started the elite person takes their 10k USD to the parallel market and buy RTGS at 950 Then they go to the RBZ and buy USD at 320 (auction rate).
    6. Then they go back to the parallel market and buy RTGS at 950 Then the go for the gold coins and pay in RTGS 10k USD to 60k USD. It is shameful.
Yes Mutambara, it certainly pays to be “well connected and/or be ruling elite” and you know exactly how it works; after all you had first-hand experience of the system. During the GNU you and your fellow MDC friends were ruling elite and Robert Mugabe saw to it that you were denied nothing. You return Mugabe’s generosity by forgetting about the reforms.
“Mazivanhu eMDC adzidza kudya anyerere!” (MDC guys have learned to enjoy the gravy train good life. They will never rock the boat!) boasted Zanu PF cronies when asked why MDC leaders like you, Professor Arthur Mutambara, were not implementing the democratic reforms.
The people of Zimbabwe should know that the country would have ended the Zanu PF dictatorship by 2013 if Professor Mutambara and co had not sold out during the GNU. It is tragic that the people did not know this then and, worse still, many still don’t know even now hence the reason they continue to support MDC/CCC blindly like sheep to the slaughter!

  4. Nelson Chamisa and his MDC/CCC friends’ commitment to democracy is as transient and easily forgotten as Robert Mugabe and his Zanu PF cronies’ commitment “One man, one vote!”
Before independence “One man, one vote!” was the rallying call, it was the embodiment of independence, right to self-rule and the restoration of the blacks’ right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country. A right recognised in the UN The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), a milestone document in the history of human rights, which bind us all as members of the human race.
Mugabe and company dumped “One man, one vote!” because they fear losing the vote in 1980 and has blatantly rigged elections ever since for the same reason.
As much as Chamisa would like CCC to restore the people’s long denied right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country and the party – charity begins at home. He cannot bide the thought of losing power because he knows that his hold on power will go if he gave the members the meaningful say. He is naïve but not that naive not to know his autocrat powers will go if CCC was to be a democratic party.
Chamisa can pretend CCC is a new party and has nothing to do with MDC, his own track record as a senior MDC leader speaks volumes of his ability as a leader. Of course, no the party member, much less the nation, would not want such a corrupt and incompetent individual to be leader. Hence the reason why Chamisa will never want a democratic CCC or Zimbabwe.
Chamisa has removed his face on the CCC party logo, that is about as democratic as he will allow the party to be, for now at least!

  5. THE Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) is reportedly making efforts to sneak into Zanu-PF's strongholds in Masvingo where the opposition party is intensifying its voter mobilisation strategy known as Mugwazo.

In the 2018 elections, the then Nelson Chamisa-led MDC Alliance performed dismally against Zanu-PF after they managed to win only one constituency and Zanu-PF claiming the remaining 25 constituencies.
Although CCC won the two seats in the local by-election last Saturday the party spokesperson still complained of the blatant vote rigging by Zanu PF. We all know the Zanu PF vote rigging juggernaut was in 2nd gear then and with a lot more at stake in the 2023 elections, it will be in overdrive. We also know that regardless of the certainty Zanu PF vote rigging will be in overdrive, CCC will participate in the elections regardless, just as they have done in the past. Why?
Simple! Chamisa and company know that Zanu PF is giving away a few gravy train seats, mostly in the urban centres, to entice the opposition to participate. Of course, they know by falling for the bait they will give Zanu PF legitimacy. Still, they do it out of greed and, significantly, because they real don’t care about the suffering masses whose lives is hell on earth because of decades of Zanu PF misrule.
MDC/CCC are the ones keeping Zanu PF in power and thus perpetuating the dictatorship and the suffering of the people! MDC/CCC are putting up a show of penetrating Zanu PF rural strong holds to justify why the party is hell bent on participating in these flawed elections.
It is incumbent on all those who can see MDC/CCC for the corrupt, incompetent and utterly useless leaders they are to stop this insanity.

  6. ZIMBABWE could easily be engulfed in a deadly conflict on the scale of Rwanda's 1994 Genocide which claimed more than 900,000 lives, opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) deputy leader, Tendai Biti, warned in parliament Tuesday.

"Politics, in Zimbabwe, is suffocating because it is politics of intolerance, durawalls and division.," he said.

"Where you have such corrosive politics Mr. Speaker Sir, it is difficult to come up with a common division. It is politics of hatred, exclusion, intolerance, and regrettably Hon. Speaker Sir, 42 years after Independence, that politics is entrenched."

What is nauseating about all this pontificating from people like Tendai Biti, is he and his fellow MDC leaders had the best opportunity ever since our independence during the 2008 to 2013 GNU to implement the democratic reforms which would have ended the Zanu PF dictatorship. The people of Zimbabwe have risked life and limb to elect MDC into power on the understanding the party implement the democratic changes required to end the dictatorship. MDC have failed to implement even one reform in 22 years, 5 of which in the GNU.

To add insult to injury, MDC are the ones insisting on participating in the flawed elections out of greed knowing fully well their participation will only give Zanu PF legitimacy.

It is infuriating that Biti should be warning against Zimbabwe becoming another Rwanda in 1994 when he and his MDC friends are the ones pushing the nation oner the edge by keeping Zanu PF in power out of greed!

  7. ZIMBABWE has been described as a military-run State whose future is being determined by the army.

This was revealed on Monday during a Twitter space discussion hosted by Open Parly, which discussed the topic 2023 Elections: A Discussion on Security Sector Reforms.

Another political analyst, Wilbert Mukori said: "The army has companies in Chiadzwa, where it is mining diamonds and to see it handing power to the opposition at the expense of millions of dollars generated from mining activities is a dream. We need to cut the umbilical cord between Zanu-PF and the army. It is no secret that the police, the army and the CIO [Central Intelligence Organisation] have interests in the Marange diamonds, for instance, and are getting a lot of money from that and if there were to be free and credible elections, they know that the incoming government will not accept a situation where the army and police continue to loot the diamonds and other resources. It is in the interest of the top brass in the security sector to ensure Zanu-PF wins the forthcoming elections at all costs.
I totally agree that the army, Police, CIO and to a lesser extent the war veterans, they derive their power from the other three, are the kingmakers in Zimbabwe but only because Zanu PF’s undemocratic control over these state institutions.

There was a golden opportunity during the 2008 to 2013 GNU to implement the democratic reforms and thus cut the umbilical cords linking Zanu PF not only the security service sector but all the others including ZEC, judiciary, etc. Mugabe bribed the MDC leaders with the trappings of high office and, to return the favour, they throw reforms out of the window.

MDC Alliance chairperson Morgan Komichi said in reality, the country's daily operations were run by the securocrats.

"The military in Zimbabwe has taken control of every sector. Even in the elections, the outcome will be determined by the military. Zanu-PF always had military wings such as the Zanla and the Zipra command. The future of this country will also be determined by the army," Komichi said.

Zimbabwe is not the only country to gain independence after an armed struggled many other nations, notably South Africa have managed to sever the links between security services with the ruling party ANC. Zanu PF returned the link because there no political will much less vision on the part of Mugabe and company.

It is interesting to note that Morgan Komichi did not accept that he and his MDC friends sold out during the GNU by failing to implement any reforms. Komichi and company have been participating in elections knowing, without reforms, the opposition will never get into power for the same reason they failed to implement reforms - greed. They know Zanu PF is giving away a few gravy train seats and that is all they care about. They continue to sell out!

  8. @ Tawanda

You are the one who asked the late Morgan Tsvangirai why he participated in the 2013 elections without reforms and he told you the party believed they would win regardless the rigging. The results of that year's elections left the party in no doubt they would never win Zanu PF rigged elections.

They had gambled on their best chance to implement the reforms and lost. They have since settled for the few urban seats gives away to entice the opposition to participate. They want to keep their position as the country's main opposition party.

Meanwhile they are banking of the economic situation forcing people to revolt against the regime. They will step in and take over as the country's main opposition party.

Zanu PF is determined to hang to power at all cost even if that means burning down the country. MDC/CCC are helping Zanu PF start in power by failing to implement reforms and by participating in flawed elections to giving Zanu PF legitimacy. This is a cosy arrangement for both Zanu PF and CCC.

The prospect of the present economic and political chaos going on for ever one more day is unthinkable much less giving Zanu PF legitimacy to govern another five more years. The challenge is making sure Zanu PF does not get legitimacy after 2023 rigged elections. One way would be to denounce these elections as the farce they are. Not enough people are doing this. How can we get more people especial journalist and media socialists to do it?
