"Heavy is head that wears the crown" said W Ncube - meant "Empty is MDC head aspiring to wear the crown!" P Guramatunhu

"MDC Vice President Professor Welshman says the recent developments in the country have made him understand the being a leader of the opposition MDC is like a heavy crown," reported Bulawayo 24.

Writing on Twitter from Tanzania Prof Ncube said, "As I lay sleepless and pondered the events of yesterday including the political incarceration of Chief Ndiweni and as I rewatched President Chamisa's press conference flanked by Cdes Biti and Karenyi I finally understood the essence of: Heavy is the head that wears the crown."

Professor, we know that it is only the crown that you and your fellow MDC leaders care about. You do not give a damn about implementing the democratic reforms necessary for free, fair and credible elections that the nation has been dying for. Zimbabweans have risked life and limb to elect MDC leaders into power on the understanding the party will implement the reforms. What reform have you lot implemented in your 20 years in politics!

When you did get into power in the 2008 to 2013 GNU you lot failed to implement even one reform. “We sat, ate and did nothing for five years!” admitted Chamisa recently.

MDC is dragging the nation into these demos for the single purpose of getting Mnangagwa to appoint Chamisa, Biti, yourself and a few others ministers in a power sharing National Transition Authority (NTA). You know as well as I do (sadly the majority of Zimbabweans out there are naïve and gullible and know nothing) that the NTA will accomplish nothing of substance. It is just a chance for the MDC leaders to get back on the gravy train to “sit, eat and do nothing!”

Zanu PF rigged last year’s elections, the regime is illegitimate and should be forced to step down and an interim administration appointed to finally implement the reforms MDC leaders failed to implement during the last GNU.

MDC leaders have kept the illegitimate Zanu PF regime in office by giving the regime some modicum of legitimacy by participating in the flawed and illegal elections. And now the party is offering to fully endorse Mnangagwa as legitimate if he agrees to share with MDC the spoils of the rigged elections.

History will record that Zimbabwe would have implemented the democratic reforms and ended the Zanu PF dictatorship many, many moons ago if only MDC leaders had not turned out to be some of the most corrupt and incompetent politicians in human history. It beggars belief that these MDC village idiots are still Zimbabwe’s main opposition party, still aspiring to rule the country.

“Heavy is the head that wears the crown!” you said. You mean “Empty is the MDC head aspiring to wear the crown!”

  1. In response to the brutal assault on peaceful protesters who gathered in the Harare CBD earlier today in anticipation of the “16 August” national protests, Muleya Mwananyanda, Amnesty International’s Deputy Regional Director for Southern Africa, said:
“The scenes in Harare today demonstrate just how far the authorities will go to repress dissent. Baton-wielding police unleashed a brutal assault on protesters, who had gathered to protest the socio-economic conditions which are causing suffering to so many in Zimbabwe.

“The Zimbabwean authorities should know that the world is watching. The authorities must end the escalating crackdown on dissent and respect, protect, and fulfil the rights to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly. There must be full accountability for these attacks, which left scores of people injured and shows the government’s contempt for human rights.

The photograph of the lady laying still after the beating by the Police speaking volumes. There, but for the grace of God, lays me!

What makes the heinous brutalities Zanu PF is dishing out to the people more and more outrageous is that it could all have been avoided if only MDC had implemented the democratic reforms to dismantle this dictatorship when the party had the many golden chances to do so. Worse still, the sell-out MDC leaders know that National Transition Authority will not end the Zanu PF dictatorship because Mnangagwa and company will never implement any meaningful reforms.

The MDC village idiots do not care that they are helping Zanu PF stay in power as long as they get a share of the spoils of political power. We are stuck with the corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF regime and all the human suffering we see today is all for nothing!

Until Zimbabweans wake-up to the political reality that MDC leaders are running with the hare and hunting with the hounds, have been doing this for the last 10 years at least, this country will never have free, fair and credible elections and a chance of a competent government. Never!

For the overwhelming majority of Zimbabweans life today is a hell-lot tougher than it was under white colonial rule. The real tragedy of our time is that we have clearly failed to make black majority rule work for ourselves. And worse still that they should be many among our people so shallow, thick and slow they still fail to see through Zanu PF’s cheap brainwashing propaganda.

Professor Ncube and his MDC’s friends’ sin is that they failed to dismantle the Zanu PF dictatorship when they had the golden opportunities to do so. As for who is to blame for destroying Zimbabwe’s economy and murdering over 30 000 of our people and brainwashing millions into absolute morons – Mugabe and his Zanu PF cronies are responsible for that.

The criticism of MDC does not mean the writer supports Zanu PF; far from it. Zimbabwe needs citizen who can think for themselves and not morons who can only see monochrome black or white, Zanu PF or MDC and cannot see the rest of the colours of the rainbow!

Both Zanu PF and MDC have proven to be corrupt and incompetent and we should seek democratic changes to open up our political system! Why is it that such simple logic is a complete mystery to you!!!!

  3. “We should unite to support Zimbabwe against sanctions imposed by western countries because they are hurting Zimbabweans and people from across member states”

Magufuli takes over the chairmanship from Namibian president Hage Geingob.

President Mnangagwa assumed the chairmanship of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation.

Zanu PF blatantly rigged last year’s elections confirming that Zimbabwe is still a pariah state ruled by corrupt, incompetent, vote rigging and murderous thugs. It is not the sanctions that are causing Zimbabwe’s economic meltdown, that is just Zanu PF propaganda; it is the misrule. Zimbabwe is fighting to end the curse of rigged elections and bad governance and that is why sanctions will stay.

If you cannot see the damage corruption is causing then you are blind or you have chosen to close your eyes to reality. We have better things to do than waste time asking you to open your eyes!

“NONSENSE. If Patrick Guramatunhu has nothing constructive to say, why does he not just keep quiet? It is drivel like this that emboldens those who stole the people's voice in 2018. What is in it for him, one wonders!”

You are right, Zanu PF did indeed steal the people’s vote last year and it was not the first time either. One has to ask why MDC leaders participated in such elections knowing the elections would be rigged? One has to ask why MDC leaders have failed to implement even one reform although they have had many opportunities to do so?

We can bury our heads in the sand and pretend MDC are the best thing to happen to Zimbabwe since the introduction of sliced bread and such the consequences of nothing changing. Or we can open our eyes and ask why MDC has failed to deliver any meaningful change and do something to make sure we have a competent opposition.
