"ZACC will leave no stone unturned to rid of corruption" - sit and eat and spare us the chutzpah N Garikai

In Zimbabwe, corruption is deep; it is a key pillar of the Zanu PF dictatorship’s patronage system. It is fair to say that to uproot corruption one must first dismantle and uproot the Zanu PF dictatorship itself. It is therefore naïve, to say the least, to hear individuals like former MDC MP Jessie Majome boasting that she and her fellow ZACC will up root corruption.

“We Are Rearing To Go. We will leave no stone unturned to rid society of corruption.” Newly Sworn In Zimbabwe Anti Corruption Commissioner Jessie Majome twittered.

Yeah right! Zanu PF has corrupted every state institution including Zimbabwe Elections Commission, Zimbabwe Republic Police and ZACC itself to the point of turning these into all but departments of the ruling party in all but name. As a former MP herself she should know Zanu PF’s modus operandi of systematically eroding the independence and authority of state institutions to effect total state capture.

“You can’t expect us to reform ourselves out of power!” former Zanu PF Minister of Information and the self-appointed chief propagandist and strategist, Professor Jonathan Moyo once boasted. He said before the November 2017 military coup by the Mnangagwa led Zanu PF faction that ousted former dictator Robert Mugabe and the main G40 faction leaders including Professor Moyo. Any upstart like Jessie Majome is now telling us she will reform Zanu PF out of power!

Ms Majome remind me of Professor Mthuli Ncube, who too told he would revive the comatose Zimbabwe economy regardless of the reality of the country remaining a pariah state ruled by corrupt, incompetent and vote rigging thugs. Professor Ncube was warned that Zanu PF had just rig the 2018 elections and corruption was rampant and he ignored the warning. His glassy eyes were focus on the prestigious office of Minister of Finance and did not care for anything else.

No doubt, Ms Majome has her eyes fixed on the limo, generous salary and perks, a former white owned farm, etc. she will receive as ZACC commissioner. She will not be the first MDC politician to enjoy the trappings of the gravy train and forget where she is there for; everyone in the MDC did that during the 2008 GNU and failed to implement even one reform.

“We got in the inclusive government and just sat there, spent five years in there. We came out without doing anything,” said Nelson Chamisa, the MDC President. There was not even a hind of shame in his voice, as if selling out the nation for thirty pieces of silver was perfectly normal.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa swore-in the eight ZACC commissioners including another former MDC MP, Gabriel Chaibva and Justice Loice Matanda-Moyo, the wife of Foreign Minister Sibusiso Moyo, who is the chairperson for the commission.

“We will leave no stone unturned to rid society of corruption!” How naïve, who owes ZACC! We all know you are there to sit and eat, do so quietly and spare us the patronizing chutzpah!

  1. Everyone with half a working brain would know that ZACC has never stamped out corruption because it is badly compromised or down right corrupt itself. One would expect someone like Jessie Majome to know and understand this. But of course, President Mnangagwa would like to project the impression that this ZACC, unlike all the other commissions before it will stamp out corruption.

So when Majome says "We will leave no stone unturned to get rid of corruption!" She is saying this to please her new paymaster, Mnangagwa. Both she and Mnangagwa there will be many, many stones she will not even touch, they are untouchables. MDC leaders have all shown that given the right bribe incentive they will sell their own mothers for a price and be proud they had a mother to sell!

Of course, Majome is selling out is participating in a commission she knows will be utterly useless. But this is no difference from the other MDC leaders who participated in last year and previous elections knowing the process was flawed and illegal. Even when ZEC failed to produce something as basic as a verified voters' roll the opposition still participated.

Of course, it is an insult for Jessie Majome to boast she will stamp out corruption when we all know that is the onething she will not do!

  2. Zimbabwe has become the classical example of a failed state because the people have proven again and again that they are incapable of governing themselves. For all their pretentious posturing at being educated, "the most literate nation in Africa", they never tire of boasting and democrats; they are ignorant, corrupt, incompetent and ruthless thugs.

Yes, many Zimbabweans can read and write, enough to regurgitate the book knowledge some have earned professorship at such prestigious institutions as Cambridge. But ask the Professor to apply some of his Cambridge knowledge to sort out the country’s collapse economy and the idiot is at sixes and sevens. He falls back to his default setting of voodoo economic, taxing the poorest of the poor because he lacked the guts to tell those in power who appointed him Minister of Finance that there would be no meaningful economic recovery as long as corruption remains rampant.

What is the point of being able to read and write and have one’s office wall papered with Diplomas, University Degrees, PHD, Professorships, etc., etc. when the country is doing to the dogs? Before independence Zimbabwe grew enough food to feed its own people with plenty left over to be the breadbasket of the region. Today the nation is dependent on imported food aid, we are so impoverished we cannot even pay for it.

In this day and age when human ingenuity has turned deserts into blooming orchards and sea of green field. We are starving in a country that is, for all intent and purpose, the Biblical Garden of Eden. That is a damning testimonial to the nation’s breath taking incompetent and inability to think and reason!

Ms Jessie Majome and her fellow MDC leaders have been masquerading as the men and women who would end the madness of the Zanu PF dictatorship and bring about the democratic changes the nation has been dying for. MDC has failed to bring about even one meaningful change in the party’s 20 years on the political stage. They pay lip service to democratic change but only ingratiate themselves to the naïve and gullible electorate once in power all they are after is enriching themselves. Only a toad would believe that Mnangagwa, the Godfather of corruption, would allow ZACC to destroy his empire!

Ms Majome knows that ZACC is a toothless bulldog that will never ever bite the hand that feeds it. Her claim that ZACC will rid the nation of corruption is meant to give the commission some modicum of credibility just as MDC’s continued participation in rigged elections is meant to give the flawed elections some modicum of credibility. Of course, the claim is an insult to any thinking Zimbabwean!

Zimbabwe is in this political and economic mess because the country has more than its fair share of brain-dead citizens who cannot think for themselves.

“Mbuya vangu Jessie Majome nematombo will perform well. You are only jealousy and no facts here,” you say.

Corruption is so rampant it is soaking up as much as US$15 billion per year in looted diamonds alone. What more evidence do you want that ZACC is a toothless bulldog that will never ever bite the hand that feeds it.

MDC leaders are corrupt and incompetent and hence the reason the party has failed to bring about even one meaningful change in its 20 years. Majome participated in 2013 elections knowing fully well that Zanu PF would rig the elections and that doing so would give the process some credibility. She, like everyone else, participated to win the few seats Zanu PF was giving away as bait. She is pleased to be on ZACC for the same reason.

Only someone who is brain dead would believe, even for one minute that Majome will have the looters of the Marange diamonds in jail in no time. We all know that the army, for example, has been at the forefront of the looting in Marange and Chiwenga and S Moyo were in the army top brass and, no doubt, got their lion’s share of the loot. And, just in case your brain-dead has not yet registered the reality, Sibusiso Myo’s wife is the chairperson of ZACC and she will be as keen as mustard to send her husband to prison!

Your sheer stupidity Kamamba, beggars belief! No wonder the country is in a real mess, with so many brain-dead people on the voters’ roll Mnangagwa and Zanu PF’s ruinous rule is guaranteed to last for many, many more years if not decades!

  4. The appointment of Foreign Minister, Sibusiso Moyo, as chairperson of ZACC was a dead give away that ZACC will be a toothless dog that will never ever bite the hand that feeds it. We all know that the Army is one of the key players in Zimbabwe's diamond looting. Of course, Minister Moyo, as a senior Army officer was taking his share of the loot.

So, we are now to expect Jessie Majome to sweet talk Mrs Moyo to arrest her husband and throw him in jail! How anyone could be so naive to believe that is what I have to ask!

  5. @ Nomazulu

Whatever marital problems Mrs Mnangagwa has had from her husband they are nothing compared to the problems the ordinary Zimbabweans have suffered from this incompetent, corrupt, vote rigging and murderous thug. All his bad breath, snoring and infidelities have all been made up for with the life of comfort and luxury the looted wealth has provided and hence the reason she will never divorce him.

Mnangagwa's real victims are the people of Zimbabwe whom he has denied their freedoms, human rights and even the right to life! When history comes to be written it will say Mnangagwa played a leading role, second only to that of Mugabe himself, in the establishment of de facto one party dictatorship that has ruled and ruined Zimbabwe.

Zanu PF blatantly rig the elections so the people of Zimbabwe could not "divorce" the regime much as they wanted too.

Mrs Mnangagwa is not only hoping mad with her husband but also at the Army whom she fears are going to stage yet another "military assisted transition" to remove her husband from power. She cannot bear the thought of relinquishing her "First Lady" crown and all that went with it. Nothing would please the people of Zimbabwe more than to see the corrupt and murderous tyrant go. Nothing!

  6. The 43% who said Majome did not sell-out should tell us how she will "get rid of corruption" as she promised.

As a former MP herself, Majome, knows that the ZDF is one of the key players in the wholesale looting that has been going on in Marange and Chiadzwa and all senior Army leaders have been getting their lion's share of the loot. No doubt, retired Major General Sibusiso Moyo, now Zimbabwe's Minister of Foreign Affairs, got his cut whilst still in the army and may well be getting a cut still.

Of course, Ms Majome knows that the chairperson of ZACC is none other than Minister of Foreign Affairs' wife. Only a village idiot would believe that the Mrs Moyo would ever allow her husband and his Army friends thrown in jail for the looting of Marange diamonds.

So Ms Majome is either a village idiot in believing ZACC will stamp out corruption or she is lying to please the regime that is feeding her.

To be fair to Majome, she is not the only MDC leader to sell-out. By failing to get even one reform implemented during the GNU, MDC sold-out big time. "We sat and ate for five years of the GNU and did nothing!" Chamisa admitted last week.

If people cannot see that MDC has been selling out even with the mountain of evidence and benefit of hindsight then one has to ask if these people will ever see. After all it is not all who have the physical eyes to see who perceive. Blessed are those who see and perceive; who hear and understand!

Zimbabwe is in this economic and political mess because the majority see but never perceived, they hears but have never understood. Worse still, as long as we continue to have a significant majority who neither perceive nor understand the country will never ever get out of the mess. Never ever!
