Chiwenga warns street protests to "desist" - you desist propping a vote rigging tyrant. By Wilbert Mukori

You cannot have your cake and eat it too! This is just plain common sense but tyrants like Mugabe think otherwise.

When it comes to holding free, fair and credible elections, Mugabe has been deaf, blind and dumb because he repeatedly ignored all calls for meaningful change to ensure elections are free and fair. He has blatantly rigged the elections to secure a landslide victory. And yet after the elections he has been quick to claim the legitimacy and protection given to the winner of free, fair and credible elections.

“I was elected by the people. As long as the people and party says continue, I continue…If I still have the energy, I still have the life, the blessings of God, I will continue.” Was Mugabe’s defiant reply to the historic war veterans’ statement denouncing him as a dictator and demanding his resignation.

Mugabe’s cronies who have never cared about rule of law, justice, human rights, free and fair elections, etc. are joining the tyrant in proclaiming his political legitimacy and their willingness to defend his continued rule.

“The Zimbabwe Defence Forces will never accept any unconstitutional change of Government and will stand firm and unequivocal by President Mugabe who was duly and democratically elected by the people of Zimbabwe, the Commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) General Constantino Guveya Dominic Nyikadzino Chiwenga has said,” said a report in The Chronicle.

"It follows that the ZDF, while remaining apolitical, would not tolerate or support any unconstitutional change of Government in the country, whether internally or externally induced," said Chiwenga.

Does Chiwenga know what being apolitical means or he is just parroting what he has heard others saying? He is on record, saying he would not "salute anyone with no liberation war record". He should know that in the last 16 years the Army has played a major role in the intimidation, beating, raping and even killing of civilians to help Mugabe and Zanu PF stay in power. And Chiwenga himself is a member of the Joint Operation Command, the shadowy “parallel government”, as Tendai Biti called it, complete with its own illegal sources of funds that has ruled Zimbabwe for decades now.

And yet today General Chiwenga wants to cut a figure of an outstanding public figure and defender of the constitution and the people. He is not fooling anyone with that!

No amount of pretending and propaganda can change the fact that Zimbabwe is de facto one-party dictatorship in which elections are routinely rigged. The country is in a real economic mess because of 36 years of gross mismanagement and rampant corruption. Other than the few ruling elite, including Chiwenga and Mugabe, who have grown filthy rich the overwhelming majority of the people have suffered as unemployment soared to dizzying heights of 90% and as much as 76% of our people now in abject poverty.

"Where contradictions exist, we must be able to dialogue, bearing in mind that we are one people. We should learn to synchronise our approaches and have a common vision where the nation thinks with one mind, hears with one ear, speaks with one voice and collectively pulls in one direction," Chiwenga argued.

There lies the heart of our political problem; one which simpletons like Chiwenga and tyrants like Mugabe, blinded by their stupidity and/or greed, have failed comprehend. Why should a nation of 14 million be forced into a straitjacket to speak with one voice, think with one mind and, most notable of all in a dictatorship, rig the elections to ensure the victory of one Robert Gabriel Mugabe regardless he is a proven corrupt and murderous tyrant!

"It is the ZDF's hope, therefore, that the internal component of this asymmetric threat to the country will take heed and desist from these divisive activities for the betterment of the whole nation," said Chiwenga, threateningly.

General Chiwenga, you are a simpleton (Mugabe has always surrounded himself with simpletons to do his dirty bidding) so I will put this in plain and simple language so even you, a simpleton, will understand. Please understand that:

  1. Mugabe rigged the last elections so stop all this nonsense of Mugabe was “dully and democratically elected by the people of Zimbabwe”. We all know he rigged the elections and stubbornly refused to release such key documents as the July 2013 voters roll because it is the smoking gun.

  2. Mugabe has used the ZDF staff to carry out some dirty vote rigging activities, as a senior officer in the Army you General Chiwenga would know the details. It is therefore nonsense for you of all the people to claim that “ZDF is apolitical”.

  3. The present de facto Zanu PF dictatorship has failed to deliver freedom, justice, human rights and dignity and economic prosperity. The economic hardships brought on by the decades of criminal waste of human and material resources are socially and politically unsustainable.

  4. The social unrest that we have seen in the country is from the people demanding an end to their economic suffering. Listen to the people because they will never stop until the country has meaningful political change leading to free, fair and credible elections; the pre-requisite for meaningful economic recovery.

  5. You can join Mugabe in denying that the Zanu PF dictatorship has failed the nation and most end; what matters here is that it has failed and that regime change is already upon us. When ZDF fight the people demanding change the Army will not fighting to preserve the country’s independence, etc. but rather to perpetuate the corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship.

  6. There will be a thorough investigation into the conduct of elections in Zimbabwe, especially the July 2013 elections; no stone will be left unturned in the drive to establish the facts. If it should be established that the elections were indeed rigged and that people like yourself General Chiwenga known this and even played a part in this treasonous act then you must know that you and all those responsible will be punished!

After 36 years of propping a corrupt and tyrannical dictatorship with disastrous consequences to the nation it is high time that people like General Chiwenga opened their eyes and accepted this system has failed and must therefore be changed. The choice here is not of whether or not to accept change but rather whether it is going to be peaceful or violent change; by resisting change the regime is per se electing violent change.

  1. President Mugabe has been promising the soldiers better housing.

The Zimbabwe economic is in total meltdown because of decades of mismanagement and corrup-tion and the only way to stop the rot is by address the root causes. The street protests are above pressuring the Zanu PF regime to address the causes.

After 36 years of being short changed by this Zanu PF government, it has kept up the promise of mass economic prosperity but has delivered instead mass poverty. The people has since wised up to the political reality that this regime is a bunch of self-serving thugs who do not care about the suffering of others and they will kill just to keep their privileged lifestyles. The people have wised up to the reality that they will never change the regime because it has perfected its vote rigging machinery to a T. The bounty of the Marange diamonds has been the regime’s greatest fortune because it has secured the funding of its vote rigging schemes with loads of cash to spare for bribing many, many others the regime needs to help it retain power.
President Mugabe is not going to improve the lives of the soldiers, the Police, the Zanu PF Youths and all the others he is bribing with better housing, residential stands, etc. just as he never improved the lives of the war veterans he bribed with $50 000 pay-off, pensions, etc. He wants the soldiers to do his dirty work of helping him deny the ordinary people the freedoms and their rights including the right to free and fair elections just as he bribed the war veterans to do the same dirty work for the last 16 years.
Whilst the big chefs like General Chiwenga and Police Commissioner Chihuri have benefited from the grand looting of the nation’s wealth and resources that has been taking place in Zimbabwe for the last 36 years the rank and file soldier and Police officer must know that their lot will never aspire for much above the bread line. Whilst Mugabe and his family will continue to fly to Singapore for something as trivial as an eye check the rank and file soldier will have to make do with health delivery system that is so poorly funded even major hospitals like Mpilo Hospital do not have something as basic as baby incubators.
It is high time that the rank and file soldiers, Police officers and the gullible Zanu PF Youths realized that the regime is using them to do its dirty work, it does not care about their welfare no more than it cares about the welfare of the masses.
It is high time that the rank and file soldiers realized that the political confrontation taking place to-day is a fight by the masses to end a political system that is corrupt and oppressive that has caused so much human misery and will destroy the nation if it is not stopped. There is need for these willing tools in the tyrant’s hands to realize that they must decide for themselves which side they are going to support!
But most important of all these soldiers, Police officers, Zanu PF Youths, etc. who shed innocent blood to please their tyrannical masters must know that it is them who will be held to account for the blood on their hands; the tyrant masters will deny even knowing them!

  2. “The government's planned legislation would allow authorities to arbitrarily seize mobile phones, tablets and laptops; monitor private communications; interrupt broadband service; and sentence violators to imprisonment.”

Zimbabwe’s economic meltdown is socially and politically unsustainable and thus per se change is now totally unavoidable. The regime has the choice of either peaceful change or violent change and by adopting all these draconian measure to stifle communication and peaceful protests the regime has elected violent change. This is not the path the nation should be following because there is going to be destruction of property, people injured and even lives lost and President Mugabe and his cronies will be held to account for all the losses since it is them who have forced the nation to go down this path!

  3. For your own information, both MDC-T and ZimPF have each been wooing the rogue war veterans like Mahiya. Both Mai Mujuru and Chamisa attended Mahiya's court hearing and were falling over each other to impress the war veterans. ZUNDE must know what these war veterans have been doing in Zimbabwe; these are Zanu PF's thugs schooled in thuggery and not ashamed of it.

By embracing these rogue war veterans both MDC-T and ZimPF have demonstrated once again their willingness to sell the cause for cheap political gains just as they did during the GNU and 34 years respectively. Are these the people ZUNDE really want to work with?

  4. General Chiwenga you are just looking for an excuse for the Army to terrorize the people and silence them and thus maintain the status quo. Accusing the people of insulting leaders on the internet is a feeble excuse. Why bother, the Army has worked closely with the war veterans doing the regime's dirty work of denying the people their freedoms and rights for donkey years they people had not insulted anyone then. Just do your dirty work and stop giving stupid excuses!

The one thing you must remember General is that change is unstoppable because the Zanu PF dictatorship has brought so much human suffering the present situation is socially and politically unsustainable. You can unleash the soldiers to attack innocent people like wolves attacking sheep but that will not stop regime change. When regime change happen, you will be called upon to account for all the innocent blood on your hands! You can save all the insulting text messages and e-mails because you will need them!

  5. A FARM belonging to Secretary general of the Zimbabwe National Liberations War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA) Victor Matemadanda has been invaded by a group of Zanu-PF youths, Bulawayo24.com has heard.

The farm is in Mashonaland West province and Matemadanda share a boundary with the sharp-tongued Sarah Mahoka

Zanu PF is a party of thugs and amongst thugs there is no respect of rule of law! Matemadanda in-vaded and seized the farm from the white farmer and now the same is happening to him. He will be very familiar with some of the jambanja songs, enjoy!

  6. The problem with narrow minded people like General Chiwenga is that they have never understood what was it they were fighting for when the joined the war of liberation. To them, one-man-one-vote, freedom and human rights were all just an empty slogans to be kicked into the tall grass in pursuit of securing individual power and wealth. It did not take much persuading to get Chiwenga to ditch the liberation war values, use brute force to deny the people their freedoms and rights in return for the share of the political power and looted wealth.

Even now with all the evidence that the Zanu PF dictatorship has failed Chiwenga still cannot see the writing on the wall and that the fighting here is between good and evil. The ease with which President Mugabe has talked people like General Chiwenga to do his bidding speaks volumes about the sheer stupidity of these people.

Margaret Dongo was right that Zanu PF “ezere navakadzi vaMugabe” (is full of subservient Mugabe concubines). Many of us thought the concubines were in cabinet and parliament and now it is clear there are also in the Army, CIO, Police, Judiciary, etc., etc. Zimbabwe’s economic recovery is dependent on a thorough root and branch political reform designed to flush out vakadzi vaMugabe in every segment of society and destroy this perverse political culture once and once for all.
