“If a house divided against
itself, it cannot stand.” This a universal
truth that has remain true and relevant no what how hard some people have tried
to deny it for their own selfish reasons.
Zanu PF is imploding because
it is a party divided against itself; Zimbabwe itself is collapsing because we
are a divided nation. We have not admitted the divisions much less address them
because there are those against us who, for selfish reasons have wanted the
divisions swept under the carpet to present a false image of a united party and
nation. There are always people who primary interest is to distort the truth
and the Bible warns us of such people.
“And the scribes who had come down from Jerusalem were
saying, “He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and, “By the prince of the demons He
drives out demons.” So Jesus called them together and began to
speak to them in parables: “How can Satan drive out Satan? If a kingdom is
divided against itself, it cannot stand. If a house is divided
against itself, it cannot stand.” Mark 3 verse 22 to 25.
There will always be spin doctors,
apologists, propagandists, charlatans, sell-outs, betrayers, hypocrites, etc. twisting
the truth talking of a divided house when there is unity and unity where there
is division. History is full of such examples of divided house, half slave and
half free and denial of the glaring divide.
“A house divided
against itself cannot stand,” said Abraham Lincoln of the problem of his time,
slavery. “I believe this government cannot endure, permanently, half slave and
half free. I do not expect the Union to be dissolved — I do not expect the
house to fall — but I do expect it will cease to be divided.
“It will become
all one thing or all the other. Either the opponents of slavery will arrest the
further spread of it, and place it where the public mind shall rest in the
belief that it is in the course of ultimate extinction; or its advocates will
push it forward, till it shall become lawful in all the States, old as well as
new — North as well as South.”
The slave masters
defended slavery with all they had to the point of human suffering and human
lives defending “their right to own slaves”. They foamed round the mouth talking of the “virtues” of slavery
although to the man and woman they never condescend to giving up their own
freedom to be the beneficiaries of the said virtues.
Abraham Lincoln went on to become the
President who abolish slavery and saved the Union from falling apart.
The fight for freedom, justice, liberty
and human dignity is like peeling off the husks from a maize cob, very rarely a
smooth one step operation; because, for a myriad of reasons, not everyone is
ready to partake in the freedom and liberty. So with each layer of husk pulled
off they will always be some people who will not see the needs for the process
to continue as their own needs have been met. Indeed they will even want the
process stopped, as much as they hated being a slave they find being a slave-master
in their own right irresistible!
To get to the kernel there are many layers
of husk to remove, same is true with freedom. Ending white colonial rule was clearly
not enough to guarantee us our freedom and liberty.
Zimbabweans risked life and limp and
treasure fighting to end white colonial oppression and exploitation; this was
the first layer stopping us blacks from enjoying freedom and liberty. 36 years
after independence; with millions out of work and living in abject poverty and
over 30 000 innocent lives, to say nothing of the millions harassed, beaten and
rape, to establish the de facto one-party cum one-man dictatorship lording over
us; it is clear we have been short changed. As soon as the whites were forced
out of power the search for freedom and liberty was stopped and thrown into
reverse as the new black regime became the new oppressors.
A house divided against itself cannot
stand; a nation divided against itself cannot stand.
For the last 36 years Zimbabwe has been
a divided nation with Mugabe and a few ruling elite enjoying absolute political
power on the shaky grounds that they are the ones who spear headed the
liberation struggle to end white colonial rule and thus per se they know what
is best for us all. Nonsense of course because they fought the white because
they valued their own freedom and liberty but as soon as they secured these for
themselves they have, out of selfishness and primeval greed, ruthless sort to
deny them to others.
The decades of Zanu PF misrule is the
root cause of the country’s worsening economic meltdown. As the national cake
has shrunk there has been less and less to share amongst the Zanu PF ruling
elite igniting the factional wars that are tearing the party to pieces.
The Zanu PF ruling elite is corrupt,
incompetent and wasteful; Mugabe has managed to keep the party united all these
years because he inherited a rich and vibrant economy, “the Jewel of Africa” as
the late Tanzania President Julius Nyerere told Mugabe in 1980. Over the years Mugabe has had to dig deeper
and deeper in the nation’s wealth to keep his ever demanding but wasteful
cronies happy. By 2000, Mugabe had nothing of value to give his cronies to loot
other than the white-owned farms and, with his usual recklessness; he seized
the farms and gave them to his cronies. He knew farming is the engine to the
country’s food security and economy; he gambled and lost big time.
So now even the ruling elite are
divided; there is the tiny minority who continue to enjoy absolute power and
extravagant lifestyles like VP Mphoko who has lived in the five star hotel for
nearly two years now and Mugabe and his family who have made Singapore their
first home whilst the rest are losing their looted wealth right, left and
centre. Zanu PF is imploding and there is nothing Mugabe or anyone can do to
stop it.
The people of Zimbabwe are demanding an
end to the corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF rule that has denied them their
freedoms and human rights including the right to free and fair elections and
even the right to life!
Zimbabwe’s struggle for freedom, liberty
and justice is unfinished business because the ruling elite stop the process to
secure for themselves not only their own freedom and liberty but to claim for
themselves the right to deny the majority the same freedoms and rights. After
36 years of riding roughshod over the people’s freedom, dignity and dreams the
tide has turned, the cup is full to overflowing, Mugabe cannot deny the people
their freedom and dignity no more than he can deny Zanu PF is imploding.
The theme of slaves becoming slave-masters and slave-master becoming slaves is the stuff of human histo-ry. As a people blacks have become notorious for enslaving our own kith and kin, today's liberators be-coming tomorrow's oppressors and so the cycle starts all over. It therefore seem the only way we know to relate to follow blacks is either as oppressor or oppressed with the usual tragic consequences of chaos and human misery that has kept Africa stuck in the dark ages ripe for outsiders to exploit and rob.
ReplyDeleteThe sheer naivety of some of our political leaders beggared belief. How is it possible that someone like President Mugabe would still consider himself a liberation war hero, a first class Pan Africanist, and yet has routinely denied black Zimbabweans their freedoms and rights and murdered over 30 000 for selfish political gain. There are thousands of war veterans like Chris Mutsvangwa, Jabulani Sibanda and even grandees like Cephas Msipa who are very proud of their liberation war credentials and why not. Yet the same war veterans have been the willing tool in President Mugabe's tyrannical oppression.
We need to acknowledge the lie that has been propagated by those is power that Africa is now free because the white colonial rules were driven out as if it is unthinkable that the blacks cannot oppress their fellow blacks. We, the people, know this is a lie and must expose it and fight for our freedom and human dignity with determined resolve.
Our problem is that there has not been freedom of expression and a free press and so the African voice that has often been heard is that of the ruling black elite and their apologists. Only the oppressive ruling elite have been pedaling the lie that there was frredom, liberty and justice in post independent Africa becuse it is a blatant lie! Tyrants like Mugabe have rigged elections and even murdered 30 000 innocent civilians for selfish political gain and yet they are still considered by many Africans as Pan Africanist icons!
DeleteThe sanctions were imposed on Mugabe and yet they did not stop him spending $80 m glob-trotting in 5 months, he lives in a $2 billion Blue Roof Mansion, has himself admitted to looting $15 billion of diamond revenue, etc. You, dabrother, are just one of the tyrant's apologists, the modern day "scribes who had come down from Jerusalem" paid to twist the truth. But even the brainwashed Zanu PF simpletons now doubt this sanctions bull in the face of such wholesale looting and plunder!
ReplyDeleteMugabe rigged the 2013 elections thanks to the corrupt and incompetent MDC leaders; they did Mugabe a great favour and he knows it too that is why he has allowed the likes of Tsvangirai to keep his $4 million Highlands mansion.
Mugabe thought he would rig economic recovery but has failed to do so. Mugabe has used all manner of trickery to stay in power these last 36 years but the one thing even he cannot cheat is the economy. His rule is characterized by criminal waste of human and material resources through mismanagement, corruption and lawlessness; after 36 years the chickens have finally come home to roost.
Mugabe told his gullible central committee meeting that the cash shortage, one of the manifestations of the economic meltdown, is going away. He is lying; the economic meltdown is going to get worse and worse. As long as Mugabe remains in power, the economy will continue on its present course. It is the economy my boy that will in the end force Mugabe out of State House and the process is already well underway!
Some people struggle with such concepts as the truth, right and wrong because they have wanted to know who said what and when. The truth is a like a mushroom it has one leg and it will either stand on that one leg or fall. Whenever truth depends on who said it then it is the truth one is judging but the speaker and since he/she is equally capable of saying the truth, a lie or occupy the vast space between and therefore the speaker is clearly irrelevant in our quest for truth.
ReplyDeleteThe ability to brush aside the chuff, blow away the dust and look at the core seed, the truth, demands discipline, talent, grit determination and vision. More often than not the truth is not as pretty as we imagined it to be and it takes visionary qualities to still value it for what it is and not let allow one's imagination interfere and distort the finding. It is therefore not surpris-ing that not many people get to see and appreciate the beauty of truth.
It is easy to see why lady justice is often represented with a blind fold; to help her get to the truth she only has to listen and is not concerned about who is speaking.
