“Zimbabwe needs political change and not currency change!” That's rich coming from one who sold out on reforms! W Mukori

“ZIMBABWE NEEDS POLITICAL CHANGE NOT A CURRENCY CHANGE.... A currency is a bundle of trust and confidence. A currency is not a currency without confidence and value,” wrote Nelson Chamisa in his latest “epistles”.

“Money represents a collective trust in the stability and reliability of the government. Its value is derived from the amalgamation of this confidence.

“Instead of introducing a structured currency, we need a conversation that produces a Citizens-backed structured political change and new government.”

What political change have you and your fellow MDC/CCC leaders brought?

Zanu PF blatantly rigged the 2023 elections and got away with it scot-free thanks to MDC/CCC leaders’ failure to deliver and democratic reforms to stop the regime rigging elections. By the late 1990s, the people of Zimbabwe knew that Zanu PF leaders were corrupt, incompetent and the regime was dragging the whole nation into economic ruins. But as long as the party was able to rig elections and impose itself on the nation, there was nothing the nation could do to stop the rot.

The nation realised that they must elect opposition leaders whose number one task would be to implement democratic reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging elections. Nothing of any substance could ever be accomplished as long as Zanu PF retain the carte blanche dictatorial powers to rig elections. Nothing!

Zanu PF was not going to implement any reforms to end its dictatorial powers; that is self evident.

Chamisa and his MDC/CCC friends have failed to implement even one token reform in 23 years including 5 years in the 2008 to 2013 GNU. Worse still, they have been participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed. What is more, they knew all this!

“The (2013) electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility,” confessed David Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.

So what is Chamisa wittering about, “Zimbabwe needs political change and not currency change”, when he and his friends are the ones who have not only stopped political change taking place but have given vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy and thus help it stay in power!!

The people’s failure to clearly define what it is exactly they wanted the opposition to do - implement the democratic reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging elections and know how the said reforms are, how they are implemented, etc. - has allowed MDC/CCC leaders to sell out on reforms and get away with it. After 23 years and not even a token reform implemented the penny should have dropped by now that Chamisa and company are not up to the task!

  1. It was not for Chamisa to speculate when he could open the ballot boxes and establish the historic facts. Why did he refuse to do so!

  2. It was not for Chamisa and company to sweep the truth under the carpet unless they had an invested interest in hiding the truth. These are the same people who failed to implement even one reform and were participating to give Zanu PF legitimacy!

“Chiregai tiise imi pamberi VaMukori …. Since murikutaura chokwadi chizere, uyezve chinotukisa … madiii machingoringa murimi bato ratinotevera nekukurudzirawo since Vacho varipo vese especially in Opposition mati they are incompetent and VanaVevhu keeps screaming Nelson Nelson , yet mumaziso nemaziviro enyu imi munoti Nelson wacho haazvigoni akatadza kugadzirisa maReform nguva yeGNU …

Chivanbai renyu Bato timhanye nemi Shefu Wilbert … itai nguva nemukana uchiripo… takamirira.”

We have been over this many times before! I have said people should NOT participate in the flawed 2023 elections because doing so would give Zanu PF legitimacy and CCC are going it out of greed. This is what has transpired. Are you suggesting that people did not listen to me because I did not have a political party? If that is so then it is stupid and for my part I will not form a political party if that is the condition one has to pay to be listened to.

Why two million Zimbabweans were so easily conned into believing Chamisa’s idiotic lies such as the claim he had plugged all vote rigging loop holes speaks volumes of how ignorant and naive the voters are. The formation of 1 000 political parties will not cure such voters of their ignorance and naivety!

Here is someone else who has argued on the sheer folly of participating in flawed elections.

Coltart belong to a political party, so why did the fail to listen to him?

This Zanu PF regime is replacing the Z$ with the new "structured currency" the ZiG is an effort to contain the hyperinflation and the devaluation of the local currency. The regime is hoping to achieve this by assuring everyone the Zig will be tied to the country's gold and US$ in the RBZ vault. The ZiG value is based on the gold coin produced by the regime which has 1 milligram of gold valued at US$0.0733.

The ZiG will hold its value as long as total value of the currency in circulation corresponds to the total weight of Gold and US$ in the RBZ vault. No one expects this Zanu PF regime to honour that undertaking and it is this economic reality that will fuel inflation and devaluation of ZiG.

  5. This is just being over simplistic to the point of being absurd!

MDC leaders had the opportunity to implement reforms these last 23 years to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections, they failed to implement even one reform. So whom should the people blamed here?

It is easier to blame Zanu PF for ALL the country’s economic and political problems but a more rational minded person will know that nothing will change until we do something to stop Zanu PF rigging elections. And the nation has risked all these last 23 years to elect MDC/CCC leaders to implement the democratic reforms to stop[ Zanu PF rigging elections.

MDC/CCC leaders have not only failed to implement even one token reform they have been participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy. We can blame Zanu PF for rigging the elections, the looting and tyrannical oppression but that will not end these evils as long as MDC/CCC leaders continue to participate in these flawed elections to perpetuate the dictatorship!

Of course, Zimbabwe’s political situation is not rocket science but it is not simple arithmetics either and simpletons like Pastor Chiwenga is not being helpful with their over simplified solutions!

  6. Zimbabweans know the ZiG is going to lose its value just as the other local currency have done. The real question is what are they going to do about it? Are they going to sit and wring their fingers as they have done these last 44 years whilst Zanu PF drag the whole nation deeper and deeper into the abyss?

  7. @ Mura

“The economy showed temporary signs of recovery because of the superficial joint effort at working together and installation of international confidence in the setup. Because ediots don't entertain anything good for the povho, that confidence collapsed when the setup collapsed and they thought they had gotten the relief they needed after the economic meltdown.

Opposition made a blunder of gigantic proportions by agreeing to work with the ediots at any level. Because that move rescued Zanu from an imminent, humiliating exit from office.

It baffles the mind when certain ediots blame the opposition of that time for not persuading the army, police, reserve Bank, the legislature to begin to function differently. Who had the greater say in implementing reforms- those who controlled the vital national institutions ruthlessly, or the mafikizolo? Or is it because Zanu is not capable of implementing the said reforms on its own?

Kufunga hakurwadze- 2009 was not the only opportunity for reforms. They can still be implemented TODAY if the ediots want to. But they are just not interested in your welfare. What can you expect from a bunch of cowboys who buy educational degrees to give themselves a semblance of dignity when they don't have any?”

The real idiots here are those who have failed to understand that the 2008 and 2013 GNU presented a golden opportunity to implement the democratic reforms. Even today with the benefit of hindsight they still continue to witter such idiotic excuses as “Who had the greater say in implementing reforms?” They are still in denial that MDC/CCC sold out by failing to implement reforms and in participating in flawed elections out of greed to give Zanu PF legitimacy.

The tragedy for Zimbabwe is that we have given the idiots the vote and both the Zanu PF buffoons and MDC/CCC sellouts have exploited the idiots, conning them to participate in these elections to perpetuate the dictatorship and the common people’s own suffering!

One cannot reason with an idiot like you, Mura, you are brain dead!

Only fools will take comfort that Mnangagwa will not seek a third term because he respects the constitution. Cold comfort!

“There is not an iota of evidence where Zanu PF or I, as President, has ever expressed the violation of our Constitution,” said Mnangagwa.

“But we allow people to dream properly or widely.

“They will still wake up and find things are working and the Constitution hasn’t changed.”

Did he uphold the constitution when he and his fellow thugs staged the November 2017 military coup? Wake up and smell the hummus!

The people of Zimbabwe must have a serious debate, HardTalk, on why the nation is the world’s textbook case failed state. Of course, we had many opportunities to end the Zanu PF dictatorship in the last 44 years, the best chance coming during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. Why did we waste that opportunity?

“He wants the SADC leadership this year.”

You are right, Zanu PF is renowned for being pedantic about the rule of law when it suits the regime only to do the exact opposite the next minute!

Mnangagwa rigged the 2023 elections and even mounted a furious attack on the SADC election observers because they had dared to hold the regime to account. And now Mnangagwa is as keen as mustard to tell the world how much he cares about rule of law because he the world to forget his wrong doing!

“True it makes sense discussing the next GNU (if ever there will be one) than wasting time debating the last. SADC should put in place an effective independent GNU overseer and not just leave a mbada and mbudzi in same cage expecting to come up with a mutual feeding agreement.”

If you do not understand what the last GNU was about, why it failed to stop Zanu PF rigging elections, etc. how are you going to stop repeating the same mistakes?

“Had Zanu refused the reforms l would have said shuwa mbada yakabatira mbudzi. Manje mbudzi dzacho did absolutely nothing about the reforms. So you can't keep blaming others for our own shortcomings.
Fast forward 2023 we are blaming Sadc for CCC candidates taking up positions despite the conclusion that the election was a fraud.
I think just like zanu we believe our own narrative. We are never wrong but the outside world is. Good luck, you will need it.”

We have the knack for seeking SADC's advice and when it is given we ignore it and do our own thing. When we realise we have blundered we blame SADC for it! What matters is we blundered and we are paying dearly for it. We do not want to learn and so we will keep on blundering and paying dearly for it. Blaming SADC for our own stupidity is cold comfort!

“M Ada refused to give mbudzi access to key posts for starters - Minister for ICT whats that - why not Home Affairs for example.”

Not even one of the MDC leaders who were in the GNU have ever said they failed to implement even one reform because they were Minister of ICT and not Minister of Home Affairs because they know that was not the reason why they failed to implement any reforms. In any case there were two co-Ministers of Home Affairs, one Zanu PF and the other MDC-T, Mutsekwa. Still there was not even one token reform implemented.

Some people have made up their minds that MDC/CCC leaders have not sold out on reforms regardless of the mountain of evidence saying otherwise. It is futile to argue with someone who has no respect for facts, truth and reality!

  17. The ZiG is no more the future than the Z$ before i, the latter was scrapped because it lost its value against other currency and for the same reason ZiG is losing its value as we speak! We all have been here before and it is only the ignorant and naive who will be foolish to believe, even for a minute, the ZiG will hold its value!

This kind of self hate is not a unique phenomenon. It only shows a high peak of mentacide. Further, in your regurgitation about Zimbabwe's so called failures which you blame on both the ruling party and opposition, try at least to provide solutions.”

Zimbabwe is a textbook case failed state and your stupidity of thinking that by pretending there is nothing wrong has contributed to this sorry state.

The ancient Greeks said there were three types of human beings the idiot who only thinks of himself, the tribesman who only thinks of himself and his immediate associates and considers everyone else the enemy and then the citizen who sees the bigger picture of securing his own interest in the context of that of society.

People like you are tribesman with such a blinked mentality you are easily brainwashed into believe your tribal leader, a mere mortal, is an infallible demigod. You are so obsessed about the leader doing no wrong that you cannot even acknowledge the economic and political reality that Zimbabwe’s economy is in ruins and the country is sinking into lawlessness and political instability.

So you think that your burying your head in the backsides of the ‘great leader” mentality is the solution to Zimbabwe’s troubles? You are really stupid and beyond the pale!

Only a fool like you would believe Mnangagwa will never seek to be president beyond 2028 because he said he respects the constitution that bars him seeking a third term. He has no respect of the constitution as he has shown repeatedly these last 44 years by rigging the elections and staging military coup!

Zimbabweans must stop being so naive and gullible to believe anything without stopping to question and scrutiny. The ZiG is bound to devalue just as the Z$ before it has done because it is impossible to have a stable currency in Zimbabwe's hostile and chaotic economic and political conditions. Impossible.

There is a mountain ofd evidence to prove that MDC/CCC are Zanu PF team B in all but name. For the last 23 year, including 5 in the GNU, MDC leaders have participating in Zimbabwe elections to make sure Zanu PF (team A) wins and have political legitimacy. The real surprise here is the many Zimbabwean intellectuals who continue to pretend that Zimbabwe has a genuine opposition!
