On inflation, Mthuli Ncube must listen to Chinamasa and Gono, "in the know", advised Moyo. What a sick joke! W Mukori

Professor Jonathan Moyo would be fountain of wisdom if only his contributions are not more often than not laced with propaganda, lies and damned lies whose sole purpose is to poison the mind.

”Professor Ncube, there is no need for a rocket scientist to tell you that the business community now being blamed for the current pricing and currency mayhem across the economy really has no horse in the forthcoming harmonised general election,” Professor Moyo argued in a recent article in New Zimbabwe.

Did the white farmers have a horse in any of the general elections since Zanu PF lost the new constitution referendum of February 2000? And yet they were blamed for it and used as the excuse for the wave after wave of white farm invasions with the accompanying gratuitous violence.

The farms were ostensibly seized to be redistributed to the landless peasants. Only a few peasants were resettled out of the crowded communal areas and most of the seized farms were dished out to the ruling elite, their families and cronies.

The nation learned recently that Bona Mugabe-Chikore, the daughter of the late dictator Robert Mugabe whom Professor Moyo served well for decades, has 21 farms with total land area bigger than Belgium! How many farms did you and your family and friends  get Professor Moyo?

The Zanu PF regime has since agree to pay the white farmers US$3.5 billion compensation for the movable assets like cattle and farming equipment they were forced to leave behind. So one masquerading as the fountain of wisdom, it is surprising that you were lost for words. Does it make any sense to you that the nation should be asked to pay the compensation when those who benefited from the seized movable and immovable assets pay nothing?

The primary purpose of the violence seizure of the white own farms was to create a smoke screen behind which to hide the use of violence against the opposition and their supporters. The farm seizures always flared up during the elections and spread into rural areas and urban centres where there were no farms.

Zanu PF is worried about the soaring inflation and commodity prices and, true to form, the party has to find a scapegoat. The business community are the scapegoats.

"Second, and as former finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa and some captains of industry in the know will tell you, in times like this shouting matches and open brawls between government voices with discordant messages and the business community benefit neither party, but only serve to make the bad situation worse for everyone, and particularly for ordinary people who have no means of navigating the economic turbulence that's threatening their livelihoods,” continued Professor Moyo.

Patrick Chinamasa and Gideon Gono in the know! If the two knew what they were doing then why did inflation soar to the dizzying height of 500 000 000%. There I was thinking Professor Moyo had no sense of humour, or be it very dry befitting the sick, cynical and sinister mind housed in that cup-cake! This is no laughing matter, people lost their life saves in 2008 hyperinflation and now the nightmare is back.

“Wilbert thank you for finally coming out of the closet . Now there is no doubt where u belong & where your loyalties are . Your criticism is neither constructive nor helpful. Your criticism is meant to destroy never to built! You should quit pretending you are not Zanu Pf . Indeed you are more Zanu Pf than Mutsvangqa & Mangwana combined . You speak on behalf of the system and u do such a good job. Tichasangana magaro pakuvambuka ruzave!! 😡.”

Whatever I say, I back it up with evidence. I say CCC is not going to implement any democratic reforms because if they failed to do so when they had the golden chance to do so during the GNU, it is naive to expect them to do it now. Even you cannot deny MDC sold out during the GNU because you cannot name even one reform they implemented - because they was none.

Some CCC leaders Tendai Biti and David Coltart have admitted on the futility of participating in these flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy. The leaders are doing it out of greed but have to tell their naive and gullible followers all manner of feeble excuses including having strategies to win rigged elections.

You just don’t want the truth said about MDC/CCC greed and incompetence and so you coming up with all manner of idiotic accusation. Now I am more Zanu PF than Mutsvangwa and Mangwana combined. Since when has Zanu PF ever fought for the implementation of democratic reform and free and fair elections?

It is idiotic to keep participating in flawed elections, so flawed one cannot change the predetermined Zanu PF victory, to give Zanu PF legitimacy and thus perpetuating the dictatorship. This insanity must be faced and dealt with here and now!

“Tichasangana magaro pakuvambuka ruzave!!” Are you threatening me?

“To show that you are just waffling you did not respond giving evidence of the bland accusations on the economy which prompted my response. Instead you went to your usual default of reforms - which is something I can not engage you on - coz it’s a worst of time.”

Zimbabwe is still stuck with this corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship because MDC/CCC sold out on reforms. They have been participating in these flawed elections knowing fully well that Zanu PF was rigging the elections and that participating will give Zanu PF legitimacy and, most important of all, will perpetuate the tragic human suffering. They have participated regardless out of selfish greed. They know there are a few gravy train seats on offer as bait and that they have found irresistible.

People like you Mambo Svosve have been defending MDC/CCC leaders’ betrayal capitalising on the ignorance and desperation of the millions of ordinary Zimbabweans out there.

If I am lying about MDC/CCC failing to implement reforms then please educate, tell me one meaningful reform they have implemented in 23 years, 5 of which in the GNU. You have failed to do so. You and your MDC/CCC friends own the nation an apology for the treasonous betrayal.

Instead of the apology you have chutzpah to insult and threaten me! I have never insulted or threatened you and I will damned if I will let a sell-out’s apologist insult and/or threaten me. I am not a sell-out nor an apologist of sell-outs and I will NEVER EVER be silence by a sell-out or his dog!

The real tragedy is that he is one of the many Zimbabweans who, even now with the benefit of hindsight, has failed to realise that the primary purpose of the 2008 to 2013 GNU was to implement democratic reforms and therefore has failed to grasp that MDC leaders sold out.

The truth is MDC/CCC leaders have given up on reform and free elections and they are participating in these flawed elections out of greed as David Coltart confessed.

“The worst aspect for me about the failure to agree a coalition was that both MDCs couldn’t now do the obvious – withdraw from the (2013) elections,” confessed Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.

“The electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility.”

Naturally MDC/CCC leaders would not admit that they are participating in these flawed elections out of greed and tell the naive and gullible they have strategies of winning rigged elections. When the strategies have failed the gullible followers should ask Chamisa et al what happened they instead go on the street to remove Zanu PF by protests! And Mukanya, in his own naivety, is encouraging street protests.

Of course, people are foolish to participating in the elections “so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw” because they were conned into believe the oxymoronic nonsense of winning rigged elections. By participating they give Zanu PF legitimacy and then are foolish to think they can remove the regime by street protest.

After 43 years of rigged elections only a fool will participate in these flawed elections expecting a different outcome. It is insane!

Mukanya has his heart in the right place but on this one he is barked up the wrong tree! The challenge getting people to demand reforms before elections, people must see free elections is a right and not a privilege, and stopping the sheer folly of participating in flawed elections.

If elections were free and fair people would vote for a donkey just to get rid of Zanu PF. The elections are NOT free and fair. As of 30 May 2022 only 1/4m had registered to vote and now we hear over 5 m have registered in the last 15 months. The majority of these late registrants are Zanu PF members who will cast multiple votes!

The people who are adamant CCC is winning these rigged elections, claiming they have strategies in winning rigged elections, and winning big today. The morning after the voting, they will be complaining the elections were rigged and will pretend they never claimed to have strategies to stop the rigging!

After 43 years of rigging elections it is insane to believe in this oxymoronic nonsense of winning rigged elections!

“Saka tipe solution kwete kungoti MDC this n that? anokunzwa uchishaura can even think the Md c is the governing party.”

Why are you concerning yourself with matter far beyond your intellectual capacity? To ask for a solution you must first appreciate the path you are on is leading nowhere. You are 100% convinced CCC has strategies to win rigged elections. The very fact that Zimbabwe has had 43 years of rigged elections is water off a duck’s back.

It would be common sense to at least ask if the last elections were rigged what is there to stop the same happening again. But common sense is not so common.

Of course, it is not your fault you don’t have common sense. It must be comforting to you to hear there are many Zimbabweans out there who are just as dimwitted as you and hence the reason the country is in a real mess. The tragedy is as long as people continue to follow corrupt and competent leaders blindly the nation is not getting out of this hell-hole we have landed ourselves in.

Just remember Big Fish that Zanu PF is rigging these elections, CCC is participating to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed and the ordinary Zimbabweans are participating out of fear and or stupidity! Or is that too much for you already.

  6. This Zanu PF government offered teachers 100% wage increase and securocrats even more, 400%. Its revenue income has not increased at all and solved that problem by printing more money fuelling inflation. Since business owner cannot print money they have to increase the prices of their goods and services and yet the regime in blaming them for inflation! How stupid is that?

  7. "At Fitch Solutions, we believe that the incumbent President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his Zanu-PF party will win the upcoming general elections due to be held by August 2023," the report said.

"Zanu-PF's overarching resources and influence compared to opposition CCC, headed by Chamisa, will preserve its support in rural strongholds and win key votes in low-income urban areas.

"Central to our belief that Zanu-PF will win the elections is the party's far greater political and economic resources it has to sway the vote in its favour."

But the Zimbabwean leader is currently battling an economic crisis characterised by high inflation and rocketing prices, and a plummeting local currency.

On the international front, several countries, including the United States and Britain, are still concerned that Mnangagwa has not implemented key reforms promised when he assumed power.

Last week, the African Development Bank said pushing through reforms would be key during its campaign to convince global powers to remove sanctions against Zimbabwe.

"Overall, reform momentum under another Mnangagwa presidency will remain weak and will constrain the country's medium-term macroeconomic outlook," Fitch said. "We see a rising likelihood of unrest in the run-up to and aftermath of the elections, prompting us to revise down the short-term political risk index score from 38,8 to 37,9, below the Sub-Saharan Africa average of 50,1.”

What is infuriating here is that the MDC/CCC opposition had the golden opportunity to implement the democratic reforms to end the Zanu PF dictatorship and they wasted it. And to add insult to injury they are the ones insisting on participating in these flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy for the same reasons they did not implement reforms - greed and breath-taking incompetence.

Chamisa tell the naive and gullible CCC supporters the country does not need reforms because the party has strategies for winning rigged elections. How anyone can still believe in this bull especially after 43 years of rigged elections beggars belief!

Like it or not Zimbabweans deserve this corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship complete with its entourage of corrupt and utterly useless opposition parties. Until Zimbabweans have some common sense and realise the sheer stupidity of forfeiting their right to free and fair elections in pursuit of the idiotic notion of winning rigged elections, the country will continue to sink deeper and deeper into the abyss.

Zimbabwe is already the most miserable country in the world according to the Hanke’s Annual Misery Index!

  8. Zanu-PF Secretary General Obert Mpofu has revealed his party was concerned by exiled former Information Minister Jonathan Moyo's hardline stance on the media which included tough laws that affected its development in the early 2000s.

Moyo spearheaded the promulgation of laws such as Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (AIPPA), Broadcasting Services Act of 2001 and Public Order and Security Act (POSA) that heavily impacted freedom of the media and its growth.

A 2001 bombing of then popular independently owned paper Daily News' printing press has also been blamed on him. He argues he played no role in the arson.

Moyo has also denied being architect of AIPPA, POSA and BSA.

From within Zanu-PF, Eddison Zvogbo was noted as the only one who raised issues with Moyo's efforts, describing AIPPA as a 'calculated and determined assault on liberties guaranteed by the constitution.'

"You see there are certain policy positions that we also did not agree with during the time of Professor Jonathan Moyo," said Mpofu.

This is just Zanu PF shedding buckets of crocodile tears. The regime is ruthlessly oppressive and has done nothing to end its iron grip on power. Zanu PF is rigging these 2023 elections. This is just a school bully apologising he stepped on you toes and yet continue to crash your toes under foot!

    ReplyDelete
  9. This is foolishness personified because this is exactly what Zanu PF would want the opposition to do - move the contest from issues affecting ordinary people to the free for all chaos and violence. Zanu PF has the state mechinary to back it and thus is guaranteed to win hands down every confrontation!

    ReplyDelete
  10. CITIZENS Coalition for Change (CCC) leader, Nelson Chamisa has slammed the failure to proclaim the elections date by President Emmerson Mnangagwa saying the move restricts planning ahead of the polls.

The country's Electoral Act's section 38 empowers President Emmerson Mnangagwa to proclaim the date for harmonized elections after consultation with the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC).

There are many battles worth fighting, this is NOT one of those battles. But then if you are just a stoog participating in the flawed elections to give Zanu Pf legitimacy for the sake of 30 pieces of silver, you tend to make a mountain out of a mole hill just to have something to fight!

No one including the gullible Zimbabweans should ever doubt that Zanu PF is rigging these elections, CCC is participating to give Zanu PF legitimacy for a share of the spoils of power. Chamisa's so-called strategies to win rigged elections are just hot air!

The challenge is to make sure Zanu PF is denied legitimacy! Zimbabwe cannot afford 5 more years of this chaos and criminal waste of human and material resources.

  11. "What we have seen since the voter registration process is that it would appear that Zanu-PF has a copy of the voters' roll. Why do we say this? You saw all the WhatsApp or SMS messages that everyone was receiving which were allegedly from Mr. Mnangagwa saying please join this WhatsApp group that belongs to Zanu-PF," Mahere said.

"What's interesting about these WhatsApp messages are that they correlate with the new constituency boundaries. The voters' roll doesn't disclose people's phone numbers - the question that we ask the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) is how did Zanu-PF tell each citizen's phone number? That information is in Zec's database. Does Zanu-PF have access to that database? That's the question that we are asking in terms of the law.

"More fundamentally with that, if Mr. Mnangagwa is able to send those messages, it means he's got some information we don't have because certainly we don't have candidates' information that will allow us to establish who is registered in which constituency, and also the polling areas and stations," she said.

This is infuriating for four reasons:

    1) Zanu PF is rigging these elections and the consequences are 5 more years of this chaos and criminal waste of human and material resource and the tragic human suffering that it has all caused

    2) MDC/CCC had failed to implement even one democratic reform in 23 years, 5 of which in the GNU

    3) MDC/CCC are the ones insisting on participating in these flawed elections against advice and their own admission it is futile. Thy are doing so out of greed.

    4) CCC claim they have strategies to win rigged elections one minute and the next they are complaining Zanu PF is rigging and still they participate out of greed.

  12. This is just talk, as long as Zanu PF is able to rig elections and have majority in parliament the party will do as it damn well pleases. These opposition MPs are there to give the impression Zimbabwe is a health multi-party democracy when it is not. The people of Zimbabwe must wake up to the reality the nation will only have a competent and accountable government if we implement reforms to ensure free and fair elections.

After all the man-years of Temba Mliswa, Tendai Biti and others blubbering, the truth is they have not changed anything. They are as keen as mustard to participate in the flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy so they can have their share of the spoils of power.

If Mliswa and company were serious about good governance then they would be insisting on reforms and free and fair elections! They are sell-out working in cahoots with Zanu PF to perpetuate the dictatorship.

CCC will participate in these flawed and illegal elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy because they are after the few gravy train seats on offer as bait. The very idea of Winning In Rigged Elections (WIRE) strategies is just nonsense to justify participating. The very idea of any thinking Zimbabwean being conning to give up his/her right to free, fair and credible elections for WIRE is insane. This is giving up gold for fool's gold!

  17. THERE was drama around Tredgold Building that houses the Bulawayo Magistrates Courts yesterday, as illegal money changers ran away at the sight of the Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Professor Mthuli Ncube, who promised a crackdown on big businesses conniving with the foreign currency traders, as well as retailers who unjustifiably raise prices of basic goods.

He accused them of delighting at the misery of the majority and urged a return to ethical business practices.

Prof Ncube caught the money changers, popularly known as osiphatheleni, and managers of some of the city's biggest retail outlets napping when he made an impromptu tour in Bulawayo's central business district.

This government has been spending money as if it is falling Jacaranda flowers is a storm. It granted teachers a 100% wage rise and 400% plus to Police, Army and CIO, its revenue base had not grown and was meeting that commitment by printing the local currency. Of course, that has fuelled inflation and instead of admit it the regime is blaming the business community. How typical!

We are being dragged by to the failed economic policies of price controls leading to shortages and even higher prices and dodgy quality goods as business activities move into the black market!

Zimbabwe is a pariah state governed by corrupt, incompetent and murderous thugs who are rigging elections to stay in power. And as long as the country remains a pariah state there will be no meaningful economic recovery. None!

Our situation is not being helped by having a corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent opposition that not only sold out on implementing reforms designed to end the dictatorship during the GNU but has since being giving Zanu PF legitimacy by participating in flawed elections for 30 pieces of silver!

Zanu PF is rigging these elections and CCC leaders are participating in these elections to give SADC the excuse to grant Zanu PF legitimacy in return for 30 pieces of silver.

CCC are lying that they have Winning In Rigged Election (WIRE) strategies to hide their greed. Is telling Mnangagwa that he is older than Chamisa now part of this WIRE strategy! 19. Zimbabwe, which was the most industrialised nation in sub-Saharan Africa outside South Africa in 1980 - is now among the top 20 poorest countries in the world - ranking 17, according to an unknown Global Finance magazine which provides economic and financial research.

Out of those 20 countries, 17 are from Africa, while three are from the Middle East - Yemen - and two, Kiribati and Solomon Islands, are from the Oceania region in the Central and South Pacific Ocean respectively.

South Sudan is the poorest country in Africa; Nepal in Asia; Papua New Guinea in the Oceania; Haiti in North America; Venezuela in South America and Ukraine in Europe.

The world's poorest countries suffer from civil wars, ethnic and sectarian strife. Covid-19, soaring inflation and the war in Ukraine made their bad situations worse.

Ukraine is now the poorest country in Europe due to the ongoing destructive war.

Until we end the curse of rigged elections and bad governance, Zimbabwe is not getting out of this hell-hole. What is infuriating is that we did have the golden opportunity to end this Zanu PF corrupt and autocratic rule during the 2008 to 2013 GNU and MDC leaders, who had the task of implementing the reforms, wasted that chance.

It is shocking that even now with the benefit of hindsight, many people still do not realise the the GNU was our get-out-of-jail card. Still they participate because they also know that Zanu PF is giving away a few gravy train seats to entice the opposition to participate. If these elections were free, fair and credible, I would NOT be surprise if Zimbabweans voted for the opposition with an even bigger margin. So you are bored with being TOLD that Zanu PF is rigging these elections but are NOT bored with the reality that Zanu PF is indeed rigging the elections nor the consequences of yet another rig elections!

Well let me say this once again. I am concerned that Zanu PF IS rigging the 2023 elections and that CCC is participating to give the regime legitimacy. I am flagging these political truths to ensure Zanu PF does NOT get political legitimacy.

You do not deny the elections are being rigged nor that CCC are participating out of greed. What you do not want is for the truth to be said and I am not here to say the truth and not message your misplaced ego. You claim to be smart, I have not seen an evidence of that. Indeed, all I have seen is the exact opposite!

Change Radio calling for voter registration!

Zanu PF has been rigging elections, this is a serious problem and one that is not going away nor will it be solved by telling people to register to vote. If there was any doubts about Zanu PF’s carte blanche powers to rig elections all these disappeared after the 2008 elections.

It was SADC leaders who proposed the 2008 Global Political Agreement, in which Zanu PF agreed to the need to implement a raft of democratic reforms designed to end the regime’s dictatorial powers. A GNU was tasked to implement the reforms.

Alas! MDC leaders, who were entrusted the task of implementing the reforms sold out and failed to implement even one reform in five years of the GNU. And worse still, ever since the end of the GNU they have been participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy on the pretext they had winning in rigged elections strategies to hide the real reasons - greed and incompetence.

Zanu PF’s reign of terror should have ended in 2013, at the latest, if MDC/CCC had not sold out. By participating in these flawed elections they are now perpetuating the Zanu PF autocracy, the very thing they were elected to end. Instead of implementing the reforms we are being told all we must do is register and participate in flawed elections. What a nightmare!

  30. The house had been bought by the government and allocated to Tsvangirai after he had boycotted government in 2009 during the coalition arrangement with Mugabe, protesting how he was being badly treated and not respected.

Mnangagwa and his deputy Constantino Chiwenga visited Tsvangirai at the house in January 2018 - a month before he died - and subsequently the government assured his family it would not be evicted.

At the time Mnangagwa's spokesman George Charamba said: "Was he not a prime minister, why would he be evicted? And he retired under a constitution that recognised his office."

After the meeting at the house, Tsvangirai left for South Africa for medical check-ups. The government was paying part of his bills. He subsequently died of colon cancer on 14 February 2018 in Johannesburg.

The only time Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends staged any protest during the GNU was over Tsvangirai’s housing arrangement. MDC sold out during the GNU by failing to implement even one meaningful reform. Some MDC apologies have been wittering that MDC was stopped by Zanu PF from implementing reforms. Even they could explain why MDC protested over housing but never the reforms.

“If Stalin told you the problem is with people who count the votes, what difference would there have been even if the opposition had participated in the reforms? Do u know as part of the reforms, the opposition called Zanu pf to the table to reform ZEC and Zanu pf came out breathing fire 🔥 insisting that ZEC will stay with militarised personal. but u keep asking which obstacles were thrown in the opposition path.”

So if the election result depend on who counted the votes and not those who cast the vote, you are telling me there is nothing one can do to reform and put that right? Fcuk me!

To be fair to you Big Fish, you are not the only one who has no clue what the reforms are much less how they should be implemented. Even many of the MDC leaders in the GNU had no clue then, and have no clue to this day. Other than Tendai Biti, Coltart and maybe a few others, the rest including Chamisa and the late Tsvangirai have/had no clue. Which explains why not even one token clue was implemented during the GNU and why they are participating in these flawed elections.

Here is something that Tendai Biti said, let’s see if you can understand that!

“Look, you can't keep on participating in flawed electoral processes that serve to give big benefits to dictators such as Robert Mugabe. Mugabe has perfected the art of winning elections. So it will be very foolish for the opposition to continue legitimising these sham elections which don't deliver. This country will go through a serious economic crisis in 2020 caused by Zanu PF. And yet, this is the only country where a government doesn't perform, it is encouraged by a super majority in parliament,” said Tendai Biti in a 2015 interview with Isaac Mugabi.

“So you can't continue subjecting Zimbabweans to processes where their hopes just get crushed.”

Zanu PF is rigging these elections and CCC who participate out of greed all the fools who participate freely (rural voters are frogmarched) are giving SADC the excuse to grant Zanu PF legitimacy. This is the insanity that must and will be stopped!

“All these countries in SADCC rig elections and protect each other as a board. But surely voting in numbers can surpass the rigging system. There is a certain age group that should contribute. We need to analyse the increase in youth registration.”

The 2008 elections were a watershed election in that we learned the extend of the vote rigging in Zimbabwe. Tsvangirai got 73% of the votes but that was not good enough to win, that tell you all you need to know. During the run-off, Operation Mavhotera Papi was about punishing people for having rejected Zanu PF in the first vote. How any one can still expect to hold free and fair elections without implementing reforms beggars belief.

SADC leaders proposed the 2008 to 2013 GNU to give Zimbabwe the opportunity to implement the reforms and stop a repeat of the blatant cheating and wanton violence of 2008. It was MDC leaders who sold out by failing to implement even one reform in five GNU years.

It is shocking that some people still have no clue the primary purpose of the GNU was to implement reforms much less that MDC sold out. If you failed to understand that MDC sold out big time by failing to implement reforms it is no surprise you will see nothing wrong with their participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy.

Zimbabweans are the most miserable people on earth for the third year running. We are blissfully participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuating our own suffering - that is the price for being a nation of naive and gullible people.

Only fools would give up the right to free and fair elections because they want to win rigged elections. They believe in mass voter registration even when they only registered 1/4m in four years out of their target 6 m!

Now you understand why ZEC will never realise the full voters’ roll for verification, they know it is in shambles! What is more, they created the shambles for the purposes of rigging the elections. In all this chaos Zanu PF leaders will have a list of their supporters are registered.

ZEC is but a Zanu PF department in all but name whose primary purpose is to deliver a Zanu PF victory. After the 2008 election it was clear Zimbabwe would never have free and fair elections without reforming institutions like ZEC.

Why not even one reform was implemented in 5 GNU years is MDC leaders’ fault. And to now pretend CCC has Winning In Rigged Elections (WIRE) strategies is the most idiotic nonsense ever! It is insane that some people are participating in these flawed elections because the believe in Chamisa’s oxymoronic WIRE strategies - even after 43 years of rigged elections.

We cannot stop Zanu PF going ahead with these flawed elections. We cannot stop CCC participating because they are after the few gravy train seats on offer as bait.

What we can do is denounce the flawed and illegal process, denounce the discredited CCC and make sure Zanu PF does not get political legitimacy from this. We must denounce the process and the discredited CCC now and not wait for the morning after the voting!

In a letter dated May 19, 2023 copied to Zanu PF vice-president Kembo Mohadi, chairperson Oppah Muchinguri, secretary for administration Obert Mpofu and spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa, Bimha directed party provincial chairpersons to ensure that all party members who appeared in cell registers, were registered as voters with the help of Faz and Heritage Trust.

Faz and Heritage Trust, which is reportedly linked to the CIO and Military Intelligence Corps, ran the party’s recent primary elections.

“It is very critical that data capture is done diligently for this programme. Constituency experts Faz and the Heritage Trust Constituency co-ordinators will monitor and capture data at each polling station as well as submit daily reports to the command centres,” Bimha wrote in the memo.

Zanu PF is rigging these 2023 elections. What is infuriating here is that CCC know that and are participating regardless out of greed

MDC/CCC have failed to delivery even one meaningful reform in 23 years and they are now the ones giving Zanu PF legitimacy and thus perpetuating the suffering of the masses. MDC/CCC have been hunting with the hounds and running with the hare, the tragedy for Zimbabwe is that povo have yet to wake up to that political reality.

  37. The voters roll inspection commenced on Saturday and will end on May 31 according to ZEC.

However, the process which initially got off to a slow start on Saturday has lifted the lid on a litany of discrepancies just three months before the 2023 harmonised elections

Several CCC members including siting MPs alleged their names were not appearing on the voters roll yesterday while some opposition members alleged ZEC had only pitched up tents but did not turn out to serve the registered voters.

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere said a lot of anomalies had been identified on the voters roll and they have notified the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC).

"Anomalies have been picked up in the voters' roll across a number of provinces and these have been drawn to the attention of ZEC," Mahere said in an interview with NewZimbabwe.com on Sunday.

"We are concerned at the degree of errors which, three months before the election, should be minimal.”

Those opposition members whose names were not on the voters' roll included Welshman Ncube who wrote on Twitter:

"Today l went to check my name at the Burnside tent polling station where l always vote. I am not on that roll. I checked on the ZEC electronic roll and their system says my details Can not be found. This is in spite of the fact that when l last checked last month, my name was there," Ncube said.

Bulawayo Central MP Nicola Watson also revealed on Twitter that her name was not on the voters roll.

"I went to check my name on the voters roll at Christ the King and my name is not there yet three of those who live at my address are. @ZECzim are you serious how does a sitting MP not appear on the voters roll," Watson quipped.
What is worrying here is that CCC are hell bent on participating in these elections no matter how flawed and illegal the process gets. Zanu PF knows that and hence the reason why the party has ignored calls for a proper voters’ roll audit. Why would they risk losing the elections by having a clean voters’ roll when they know CCC will participate no matter what to give the regime legitimacy.

Indeed, Zanu PF has been increasing the benefit of winning a seat on the gravy train and is even offering POLAD freebies to those who fail to win gravy train seats. What is more CCC leaders themselves know they are nothing more than rats caught in a trap!

The real tragedy here is that many Zimbabweans out there have yet to open their eyes and minds to the political reality that MDC/CCC will never implement the reforms and deliver free elections. Never ever!

  38. Ndiweni told NewsDay that during the 2007 and 2008 economic meltdown, experts indicated that about one million Zimbabweans moved to South Africa.

"If the Zanu-PF government once again steals these elections, we will see about two million Zimbabweans packing their bags and going to South Africa," he opined. "The biggest movement of people we have seen in the Southern African Development Community in our age. This movement will occur legally and illegally."

Ndiweni, through his pressure group, MyRight2Vote has been calling on government to allow  the diaspora to vote and has since 2019 been pressuring the government to accord citizens based outside Zimbabwe this right considering they are the ones keeping the country running through their yearly remittances.

Zanu PF IS rigging these elections there is no if or but on that score! The most important issue here is that people must NOT make the mistake of participating thinking CCC will win. By participating you give the process credibility and thus give SADC the excuse to grant the regime political legitimacy.

As regards the voters’ roll. The number of reported errors shows there is a serious problem and why there should be a verified voters’ roll. It is too late to have a verified voters’ roll and we both know that CCC are participating in these elections regardless. Elections are judged free, fair and credible because the process from start to finish is free, fair and credible. But you clearly do not understand all that, all you care about is the result. If, whichever party you support wins then the election must be judged free, fair and credible.

The alarm bells will become church bells to be heard far and wide when people are reminded that Chamisa and his MDC friends had the golden opportunity to implement the democratic reforms during the 2008 to 2013 GNU and wasted it.

Dictators have no problem holding regular elections as long as they are confident they will win. Indeed, going through the motions of an elections has become a badge of honour.

Mnangagwa rigged the 2018 elections but took great pride in pointing out that there were 23 presidential candidates in that race. He has since created POLAD to reward the losing presidential candidates and to entice more to participate in future elections.

More problems continue to emerge from the @ZECzim Voters Roll.

Many of my followers are saying that their names are simultaneously appearing at different polling stations.

    Why is this dangerous?

The person who is doing this knows exactly the number of people this has been done to.

If their candidate loses the election, they will then take those duplicates and put them under their candidate as his votes.

The numbers will tally and that is it, another rigged election.

The Voters Roll MUST be released and audited ASAP.
The opposition will be lying if it says it has a plan for this, it DOESN’T!

The only plan is to AUDIT the voters roll.
Many people who have gone to their polling stations might get their issues sorted.

What about the millions in South Africa and beyond who couldn’t come to inspect the Voters Roll at their polling stations, or even many more inside Zimbabwe who couldn’t do it due to work commitments?

It is a mess, a big Royal mess!

If ZANUPF succeeds to hide the Voters Roll, and if the opposition and Civil Society fail to force the regime to release it, it is goodbye 2023.

You can plan for an election without a Voters Roll, you need to know the number of registered voters nationally, provincially up to polling station level.

The law allows for this, the judiciary and the regime are breaking the law if they refuse to give access to anyone who wants to see the full Voters Roll!

Zvakuda loud voices from the opposition kwete whispering izvi.

This really should be common sense but in Zimbabwe common sense is not so common. As long as these opposition leaders hold or aspire to hold public office they must, per se, be democratically accountable to the PUBLIC and not just their supporters. MDC sold out by failing to implement the democratic reforms during the GNU and hence the reason the nation is still stuck with Zanu PF and the curse of rigged elections. If you think MDC/CCC leaders are going to walk away scott-free think again!

I am not particularly concerned about MDC, MDC-T, MDC A and now CCC. What I know is many of the leaders in CCC were in the MDC when it was launched in 1999. If the same individual was corrupt and incompetent in MDC I have no reason to believe the change of regalia was a Saul to Paul transformation.

By the same token, Mnangagwa is still a corrupt, incompetent and murderous thug, the 2017 military coup or name change to Second Republic changed nothing.

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has sought to assure prospective voters that they will not be disenfranchised amid reports that some names are missing from the voters’ roll while other voters have been transferred to polling stations more than 60km away from their places of residence.

ZEC Chief Elections Officer Utloile Silaigwana told State media that ZEC will rectify any anomalies that will be detected during the ongoing voters roll inspection exercise.

ZEC opened the voters’ roll for inspection on Saturday and the process which was supposed to end on 31 May is now ending on 01 June.

The electoral management body said that it has opened more than 11 000 centres countrywide to enable voters who registered on or before 28 April to check their registration details. Said Silaigwana:

Why does ZEC take the voters’ roll to the people? It is because we want the voters themselves who are the owners of the voters’ roll to audit the roll by checking their names and their details.

They should check whether they are placed in the correct polling station, ward and constituency.

In the event there are anomalies detected by the voters, ZEC will ensure they are corrected.

Perhaps it is very important that the electorate at large and our people in Zimbabwe know that recently we had a very important exercise which is the delimitation exercise.

The latest delimitation exercise was done more than 13 years after the one done between 2007 and 2008.

Only a fraction of the population will be able to inspect the voters’ roll in the allocated eight days.
How is ZEC correcting the anomalies? Is ZEC producing a supplementary voters’ roll or will allow the individuals to vote using voter registration slips? This is not creating yet another layer of complexity that can be misused?

The inspection will only pick some individual errors but not all. It is no secret that Zanu PF has asked its supporters to register multiple times, only a thorough audit can pick this up.
