"Things will never be the same again. We are restructuring and reforming our health delivery system. We want to rebuild the structures from village to referral level. Things will never be the same again, but we must work together," said VP Chiwenga in his new role as Minister of Health.
"We have already identified the problems and we do not want a repeat of what was happening before.”
This is just one more empty promise, “a puny dog’s fart”, as Chinua Achebe would say, to improve the people’s lives that will never be fulfilled.
Ever since the day Zanu PF got into power in 1980 the party has promised the nation “mass economic prosperity” (Gutsa ruzhinji!) and has never ever doubted its ability to deliver on that promise. The reality is, the country’s economic fortune has been in steady decline for the last four decades because of gross mismanagement and rampant corruption.
Whilst the people have been painfully aware that Zanu PF was bring mass poverty and not mass prosperity, they have remained totally helpless to do anything about it. They could not remove Zanu PF from office because the party had imposed a de facto one-party dictatorship and rigged elections to stay in power.
This Zanu PF administration led by Mnangagwa and Chiwenga has promised to revive the economy following the November 2017 military coup but now, nearly three years later, the economic situation is worse than ever. Chiwenga is just a simpleton who does not even the common sense to know he cannot revive the health service whilst the national economy remains in the doldrums!
The root cause of Zimbabwe’s economic mess and political paralysis (both Zanu PF and the opposition are corrupt and incompetent) is the country’s rotten political system. Zimbabwe is stuck for 40 years and counting with this corrupt and incompetent Zanu PF regime.
“We have already identified the problems!” If you had any common sense then you would know by now, after 40 years of blundering from pillar to post whilst dragging the nation deeper and deeper into this Zanu PF inspired hell-on-earth, that you are the number one problem. And the solution is for the country to implement the democratic reforms designed to stop Zanu PF remaining in power against the democratic wishes of the people!
Zanu PF stupidity knows no limits!
ReplyDelete"Cde Lindiwe Zulu has been long enough in government to know the provenance of Zimbabwe's woes, namely related to western illegal sanctions against Zimbabwe over land reforms," argue George Charamba.
The regime arrested and is holding Journalist Chonono at Chikurumbi Maximum Security Prison right now for daring to report on corruption in high places. Charamba wants the world to believe the arrest had anything to do with sanctions imposed by west on some of the regime's leaders. Other than the regime holding the nation to ransom, there is no other link!
President Emmerson Mnangagwa has with immediate effect fired Energy and Power Development Minister Advocate Fortune Chasi and replaced him with little known Soda Zhamu.
ReplyDeleteWell well! Mnangagwa wield the axe with the recklessness of a mad man. If the truth be told he is the first one who should be fired but in a country where elections are rigged there is no one to fire him. ZEC could not produce a verified voters' roll because that is impossible to achieve when a significant number of the voters are imaginary voters casting multiple votes!
No doubt, in a week or two Soda Zhamu will claim "to have identified all the problems in Zimbabwe's energy sector and from hence forth Zimbabwe will have a 5 star energy supply service. No more load shedding!"
After 40 years of enjoying absolute power there really is nothing that this Zanu PF will ever admit it cannot do; they all know they will never ever be held to democratic account for anything!
VICE-PRESIDENT Constantino Chiwenga yesterday failed to show up at Ekusileni Medical Centre in Bulawayo where he was billed to tour the COVID-19 facility amid reports that he had instead travelled to Binga in Matabeleland North province.
ReplyDeleteThe developments come at a time when the centre, which was declared a COVID-19 facility sometime in April, is yet to open to the public as it still requires about US$3,4 million expected to fully equip its wards.
Authorities at the medical centre yesterday expected Chiwenga, as Health minister, to tour the facility and appreciate some of the challenges it is facing.
"The Vice-President's tour to the hospital has been cancelled. I am not really sure why, but he has diverted his route to Binga," district information officer Miriam Chigonde told Southern Eye.
Containing corona virus is the number one challenge of our generation and it is disappointing that VP Chiwenga and as the new Minister of Health boasting of having identified all the health sector’s problems does not appreciate this.
The truth Chiwenga is just a buffoon who was promoted way above his level of competence. What a time to have a first class buffoon for Minister of Health!
The only reason people like Muzenda, Mujuru, Chiwenga and Mnangagwa were promoted to high positions is because Mugabe liked to surround himself with mediocre people. Mugabe was not particularly bright himself and he viewed anyone with a bit of grey stuff between their ears a serious threat to him. He wanted to be seen as the star and surrounding himself with mere dead planets made him, a red dwarf at best, a star.
ReplyDeleteChiwenga is a man of little intellect and he has certainly failed to identify Zanu PF as Zimbabwe's number one problem. Until the country implement the democratic reforms designed to dismantle the Zanu PF dictatorship and stop the party rigging elections; the country's number one problem will remain and so too will the country, stuck in this hell-on-earth.
What is happening in Belarus confirm the universal truth that even after decades of oppression the corrupt and tyrannical regimes will fall!
ReplyDeleteAMNESTY International has called on SADC leaders to fix the fast deteriorating human rights and political situation in Zimbabwe and that of the region.
ReplyDeleteThe global rights lobby made the statement ahead of a SADC annual summit this coming week.
“SADC leaders must urgently take concrete measures to fix the human rights crisis in the region when they meet at their annual summit next week,” Amnesty International Director for East and Southern Africa Deprose Muchena said Friday.
The root cause of Zimbabwe's economic and political crisis is the country's failure to hold free, fair and credible elections; the country has been stuck with a corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship for donkey years. SADC endorse the July 2018 rigged elections and thus are now powerless to deal with the crisis since the solution necessarily entails asking the illegitimate Zanu PF regime to step down.
SADC must acknowledge it is powerless to deal effectively with Zanu PF and must ask the UN to step in. The international community must join in the call for the UN to step in. The solution SADC has been proposing is forming a new Zanu PF and MDC GNU and ignore the fact that these two parties were involved in the 2008 to 2013 GNU that failed to implement even one reform. We do not want to repeat the same failed formula!
Hell! How many chances are you going to give this Zanu PF dictatorship? Thousands of Zimbabweans have died of covid-19 and hundreds of thousands more are going to die because of the blundering incompetence of the regime in handling the pandemic. Why is the regime refusing to test and track the spread of the virus, for example.
ReplyDeleteWhat chance did the victims of the regime's 40 years of misrule and failure getting?
