Gappah followed Mnangagwa into hell, ignoring "abandon all hope, you who enter here”, for 30 pieces of silver N Garikai

No one is ever surprise to hear Professor Jonathan Moyo, Zimbabwe’s most notorious political turn-coat, defending Petina Gappah. The two have a lot in common; they are sell-outs.
Professor Moyo is one of the Zanu PF leaders rightly credited in helping Mugabe stay in power especially post 2000; by hook and by crook naturally, given Mugabe was a corrupt, incompetent and a murderous tyrant.
Ever since losing his cushy position in Zanu PF, Moyo has turned on his former Zanu PF bedfellows pontificating endless about how his own father was a victim of Gukurahundi. Conveniently forgetting that he played a major part in consolidating the one-party dictatorship post Gukurahundi, regardless of the regime’s corrupt and murderous reputation and tendency.
It has been said Professor Jonathan Moyo would sell his own mother for a price and be proud he had a mother to sell. He certainly sold his father and millions of ordinary Zimbabweans alright!
The now late Robert Mugabe himself called Moyo “a weasel and devil incarnate”. It late late dictator was the devil incarnate in his own right and it took one to know one!
“Instead of welcoming @VascoDaGappah &@daddyhope, to benefit from their experiences, first-hand information & perspectives, the holier-than-thou do-gooders in “CIVIL” society have amazing if not shocking energy, time & words to demonize & CANCEL OUT real and potential allies!” twittered the “devil incarnate” Moyo from his fox hole, in exile.
“There’s no change in Africa, that has taken place or succeeded without former insiders & outsiders coming together to coalesce around shared goals for transformational change. The mantra that “once ZanuPF always ZanuPF”, is false & primitive. Even Tsvangirai was once ZanuPF!”
Oh yeah! What good has ever come out of all your years of selling out in Zanu PF, Professor Moyo. The Zanu PF dictatorship would have collapse years ago was it not for very intelligence people like you, Professor Moyo, Professor Mthuli Ncube, Petina Gappah, Morgan Tsvangirai and many others in Zanu PF, opposition camp, etc. who have propped up the regime - for thirty pieces of silver!
Of course, Morgan Tsvangirai and his fellow MDC friends are sell-outs. It was no accident that they failed to implement even one meaningful reform in five years of the last GNU. Mugabe bribed them with ministerial limos, generous salaries and allowances, a US$4 million mansion for Tsvangirai, etc., etc. “Pretty good wages for one little kiss!”, as the High Priest so aptly reminded Judas Iscariot!
When Mnangagwa failed to stamp out corruption, he blatantly rigged last year’s elections, etc., etc. it was clear as day that Zimbabwe was still a pariah state, nothing had changed. Mnangagwa was dragging the nation straight into hell and Petina, in pursuit of the thirty pieces of silver, chose to fellow him, as one of the President’s Advisors!
“Through me you enter into the city of woes
through me you enter into eternal pain,
through me you enter the population of loss.
. . .
abandon all hope, you who enter here.”
Reads the inscription on the Gateway into, according to Dante.
There is no denying that Zimbabweans are experiencing the woes, pains, losses and have cause to abandon all hope; given Zimbabwe’s worsening economic situation with unemployment an nauseating 90%; hospitals closing down because there are no doctors, no nurses, no medicine and no equipment; etc.
Petina Gappah is an intellectual and author; she read the inscription and ignored it; she was warned of the futility of propping a corrupt, incompetent, vote rigging and tyrannical regime and would not listen. Instead of wasting our time with her buckets of crocodile now that the damage is done and she has banked the thirty pieces of silver; Petina Gappah should go hang, just as Judas Iscariot did!
Professor Jonathan Moyo is pleading for Petina’s forgives out of self interest - he will be asking the nation to forgive him too for all his decades as Zanu PF’s self-appointed chief strategist and propagandist!

“There’s no change in Africa, that has taken place or succeeded without former insiders” spilling the beans! Rubbish; Zimbabwe is in this hell-on-earth situation because the country has had the great misfortune of having more than it fair share per capita of “devil incarnate” like you, Professor Jonathan Moyo and Petina Gappah!

  1. Petina Gappah was one of the Zimbabwean professional to join the Mnangagwa bandwagon soon after the November 2017 military coup, as if the coup was a none-event. She was in the Davos Economic Forum team in January 2018 cheering and applauding the "Zimbabwe is open for business!" mantra. Everyone was asking, what had changed. They could not see what had changed to justify the mantra and, now it is clear, they were right.

There is doubt that Petina Gappah there was absolutely no reason to justify her joining this Zanu PF regime other than greed.

I agree, one of the root causes of Zimbabwe's economic and political problems is the scourge of betraying the nation for selfish individual gain.

  2. ”I have returned home- Zanu PF is my home and I am ready to serve the nation. We have to be united as a nation. Zanu PF is a party that represents the interests of the people,” said 2018 presidential candidate Brian Mteki.

Rubbish, if Zanu PF represented the interest of the people, then why is the country in total economic meltdown?

  3. A World Bank estimate projects an additional 1 million people entered extreme poverty in 2019. Unlike the natural agricultural boost in 2018, this year has seen a steep rise in the price of basic commodities and food due to droughts. Overall, food and non-food prices inflated 319% and 194%, respectively.
Zimbabwe is a pariah state ruled by corrupt, incompetent, vote rigging and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship. Anyone who genuinely believes that Zimbabwe can even register any meaningful economic growth regardless of the pariah state status is naive, to say the least.

  4. “We discussed the Commonwealth and from the beginning, the British have been very clear we would like to see the Zimbabwe back in the Commonwealth and at the point where economic and political reform programme has been completed and we have seen good progress on that then that will be the time to look at membership,” BRITISH Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Melanie Robinson.

“We are currently somewhere away from that, but we look forward into the future to seeing these reforms underway and for us to be able to discuss the membership.”

No reforms can ever reverse the reality of a rigged election and the idea that Zanu PF can blatantly rig elections and then carry out reforms to earn itself enough brownie points to cancel out the rigged elections is an insult to the people of Zimbabwe, the real victims of the rigged elections.

This Zanu PF regime is illegitimate by virtue it rig the elections and therefore must not be granted legitimacy by the back door.

  5. Moyo can defend Gappah all he wants the fact of the matter is she joined the Mnangagwa team after the coup for no other reason than selfish gain. The people of Zimbabwe are sick and tired of Zimbabwean professionals who prostitute their services to politicians; they want to see man and woman who care about the welfare of others and not just number one!

  6. Minister Mthuli Ncube has promised many things beside the fuel price stability and most of his promised have never came true. The promise of economic prosperity without addressing the fundament problems of corruption, pariah state, etc. are wishful thinking.

Zimbabwe is a pariah state ruled by corrupt, incompetent, vote rigging and murderous thugs; until that is addressed nothing will ever change.

  7. @ Victor Bhoroma

"It is often said that if you want to predict the prosperity of a country, just look at its institutions. The economic challenges that bedevil Zimbabwe today have little to do with lack of natural or financial resources.

It has everything to do with the decay of the country’s institutions since the early 1990s. Institutional decay has now become more pronounced due to economic hardships even though it has been brewing for close to three decades. "

Your analysis is one of the best I have read in a long time. Most of what you say is common sense and yet a lot of it is yet to see the light of day in Zimbabwe, which explains why we are in such a mess.

Zimbabwe is a pariah state ruled by corrupt, incompetent, vote rigging and murderous thugs and, until this is addressed fully, economic recovery will remain a mirage just like Zanu PF’s vision 2030! And the only cure for pariah state is for Zimbabwe to implement the democratic reform to guarantee free, fair and credible elections.

Zanu PF and MDC will never ever implement the reforms, we know that from the 2008 to 2013 GNU and hence the reason Zanu PF must be forced to step down. No if, no but!

  8. ‘This is my country’- White farmers flock back to Zimbabwe
It will be tempting for these returning white farmers to embrace this corrupt, vote rigging and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship just to get their farms back. What they must know is propping up this Zanu PF dictatorship will undermine the common cause of dismantling the dictatorship which has caused the suffering and deaths of all Zimbabweans and not just the white farmers.

The sight of these white farmers, urban whites, Zimbabweans of Indian descend, etc. clad in Zanu PF regalia brings tears to every thinking man and woman. It these men and women have given up the few remaining rights such as freedom of association, their knowledge of the law had helped ring fence these rights, it is naive to expect the rural voters to resist the Zanu PF juggernaut.

Zanu PF has managed to stay in power all these last 39 years because the party has never had any problems recruiting some of the country's best minds to do its dirty work - for thirty pieces of silver. Now it seems the party is extending its drag net to include members of the minority groups.

Zimbabwe's culture of selling out must be stamped out and it is certainly in the nation's "To do!" basket. There will be no chance of ever building a democratic nation when those who profit from undermining society are allowed to keep their ill-gotten gains.

The fight for a democratic Zimbabwe has been a long slog but now is not the time to throw in the towel.
