"Mnangagwa is destroying Zimbabwe just like Mugabe" twittered retiring UK MP - to stop him, we must be shrewd P Guramatunhu

"It has been a privilege to chair the All Party Zimbabwe Group in Parliament and speak up for that beautiful country now in the grip of @edmnangagwa destroying it just like Mugabe,” twittered retiring Labour MP Kate Hoey.

THANK YOU KATE!

You spoke for the millions of ordinary Zimbabweans who have been systematically denied the freedoms and rights including the right to a meaningful vote and even the right to life by this corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship.

Zimbabwe is a beautiful country with great economic potential and a hard working people. The reality on ground tells a different and sorry story because the country has had the great misfortune of being ruled by thugs.

Ever since Zimbabwe attained her independence in 1980 the country has been ruled by corrupt, incompetent and murderous Zanu PF thugs who have denies the people their freedoms and rights including the right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country and even the right to life. The people have risked life and limb to elect MDC on the ticket they would implement the democratic reforms to end the Zanu PF dictatorship. They had the golden opportunity to implement the reforms during the 2008 to 2013 GNU; they failed to get even one reform implemented. Not one! And ever since the MDC leaders have participated in flawed and illegal elections for selfish political gain.

Ms Kate Hoey, the EU, the Americans, the Canadians, the Commonwealth and many, many other observed last year’s Zimbabwe elections and they all condemned the elections as a farce. Ms Hoey argued the British government, the EU and the international community to punish the Mnangagwa regime for rigging the elections. It was none other than Zimbabwe’s own opposition politicians who undermine this call!

There is no doubt that by participating in the elections, the opposition gave the flawed and illegal elections some democratic credibility. And boy oh boy; the opposition politicians were falling over each other in their enthusiasm to contest. There were 23 contestants in the presidential race alone!

The election process was so flawed that 3 million Zimbabweans in the diaspora were denied the vote (Mnangagwa was declared the winner with 2.4 million votes)! ZEC even failed to produce something as basic as a verified voters’ roll. But none of these flaws and illegalities dumped the opposition candidates’ enthusiasm!

MDC leaders and their fellow opposition politicians were after the few gravy train seats Zanu PF gives away as bait and they did not care how flawed and illegal the process happened to be. Having participated in the flawed and illegal elections, knowing all along Zanu PF would rig the elections, Chamisa and company had no choice but to accept the elections as credible.

Yes, E D Mnangagwa is destroying Zimbabwe just as Mugabe before him had done and with the active help of the corrupt and incompetent Nelson Chamisa and his MDC friends! MDC leaders have been running with the hare and hunting with the hounds for over 20 years now and hence the reason Zimbabwe is still stuck with this corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship.

People like Kate Hoey have fought hard to stop tyrants like Mugabe and Mnangagwa destroying Zimbabwe. But if the truth be told, this is our fight; we have allowed tyrants to ride roughshod over our hopes and dreams and it is for us to make sure the madness stops!

"I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves,” said Jesus.

Zimbabwe is in a real serious economic mess with unemployment a nauseating 90% and basic services like health care all but completely collapsed because of forty years of corrupt and tyrannical bad governance. To get out of the mess Zimbabweans must be shrewd to see something as obvious as MDC leaders are selling out hence the reason the party has failed to implement even one reform in the last 20 years. And it is naive to expect the party to do so now!

  1. Such superfluous expenditure came at a time State hospitals are operating with neither doctors nor painkillers. Medical doctors are pleading poverty to the extent of failing to raise busfares to go to work, while the government can't afford to import even painkillers because of "sanctions". The same government without money for painkillers then ropes in the MDC to join a week-long spending spree in Victoria Falls. If this is not madness, then one should assist me to find an appropriate term for it.

MDC leaders sold-out big time when the failed to implement even one reform in five years of the GNU. "We sat, ate and did nothing!" Chamisa admitted four mnths ago, in July. MDC leaders have been running with the hare and hunting with the hounds for the last tens, at least. It is just that Zimbabweans have been slow off the mark to see it!

Zanu PF rigged last year's elections to secure a 2/3 majority and there is nothing MDC leaders can do to influence the regime. MDC leaders should have never participated in elections they knew and were warned repeatedly that they will be rigged. The only reason the ignored the warning is greed!

  2. If this is the official judgment it is an exceptionally poor judgment riddled with inconsistencies and faults. To give but one example the superficial manner in which the Court dismisses the allegations regarding the non compliance by the ZBC and other State owned media of section 61(4) of the Constitution is simply shocking. It is hard to believe that trained, experienced, judicial officers could have written this judgment. For now I will wait confirmation that this is the official judgment and will give the above named Judges the benefit of the doubt until then.

David Coltart and the rest in MDC KNEW that ZEC and Zanu PF were not only going to comply with section 61(4) of the constitution, comply with legal requirement to produce a verified voters’ roll and a whole raft of other things and yet they still participated in the elections. If Coltart and company knew these things were important in the delivery of free, fair and credible elections; then why did they ignore all the warning not to contest the elections without reforms?

Coltart admitted in his book that MDC leaders knew without reforms Zanu PF would rig the elections but he and others still contested the elections for the sake of winning the few gravy train seats Zanu PF offered as bait.

“The worst aspect for me about the failure to agree a coalition was that both MDCs couldn’t now do the obvious – withdraw from the elections,” admitted Coltart.

“The electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility.”

It is therefore rich that Coltart et al participated in flawed and illegal elections knowing there will be no free media, no verified voters’ roll, etc., etc. out of greed should now expect a corrupt and compromised Judiciary to be their political conscience!

  3. It was not apparent last night, what course of action the Asian political and economic giant was going to take if Mnangagwa refuses to go, with speculation that VP Chiwenga, who is in China and is expected home before the end of next month to act as president during Mnangagwa’s annual Christmas leave, could be coming home to push out Mnangagwa for good, for failing to resolve the country’s economic situation and more seriously, for reportedly cunningly overturning former President Robert Mugabe’s “Look East Policy”, thus placing China’s economic interests in Zimbabwe under grave threat.

“However the reason China wants him out is because he has made them angry by reneging on a number of deals he made with Beijing in 2015, a few months after becoming vice president when he took a controversial trip there, which ended up angering Mugabe because it was linked to his succession. Some of the deals included offering China Railway, the contract to refurbish and reconstruct a new national railway network for Zimbabwe worth billions, but it now appears that a Western powerhouse (name supplied) is in negotiation to take over the massive project from the Chinese. Mnangagwa also undertook to give China exclusive diamonds and platinum claims in the country, but they have lost to Russia on that front. Emissaries from Chiwenga’s office in Harare have relayed the message that China wants him to resign or retire gracefully to make way for the VP, otherwise action is going to be taken against him.”

Zimbabwe IS a pariah state ruled by corrupt, incompetent, vote rigging and murderous thugs and swopping one or two thugs is not enough to change that reality. The November 2017 military coup has failed to revive the country’s economic because it did not change the political reality on the ground - Zimbabwe remained a pariah state or be it under new management.

Replacing Mnangagwa with Chiwenga will not change the reality on the ground, Zimbabwe will still be a pariah state.

As long as Zimbabwe remains a pariah state, there will never be any meaningful economic recovery.

Zimbabwe’s economy is now in ICU and the human suffering and deaths has reached alarming levels; the country needs real political change and not yet another gimmick. Zimbabweans know that real political change will only come from Zanu PF stepping down to allow an interim administration that will implement the reform. Anything else is a waste of time, something the country can ill afford!

  4. Said Chamisa, "We must all be the change we want to see. There is no need to wait for any other signal. Signals are everywhere and there is no justification for any further waiting."

Chamisa was highly expected to deliver an address on Friday to give a direction to Zimbabwe on the next action to take after the state banned the mass demonstrations that were planned few months back.

Media reports had said Chamisa, through his spokesperson Nkululeko Sibanda, said the time had now come to draw the line through his Hope for the Nation Address (HONA) that will give the signal to his increasingly restive supporters who are agitating for demonstrations.

Chamisa has already said that he wants to go into a power sharing arrangement with Mnangagwa which is just a version of the 2008 to 2013 GNU which failed to implement even one democratic reform in five years. It is naive to expect this new GNU to do any better.

What Chamisa is after is a chance to get back on the gravy train and at the end of the day the nation will still have the dysfunctional Zanu PF dictatorship. Both Zanu PF and MDC will never implement the reforms. Never! Enough is enough!

What Zimbabwe needs desperately right now is for Zanu PF to step down and give the nation a chance to reform this dysfunctional political system.

  5. The Health Services Board announced on Friday that it has fired 134 more doctors  found guilty of absenteeism. The Board said 213 disciplinary hearings have been conducted and 211 doctors were found guilty.

The public sector employees 1601 doctors and 516 are expected to attend the hearings.

Last week 77 doctors were fired for the same crime.

The doctors and other civil servants have already said the money their are being paid is not enough to for their transport, food, accommodation and one or two other basic essentials of life. We all know that the prices of goods and services have gone by 350% plus in the last year and wages have only gone up by 50% or so. It should be remember that most wages were not a living wage to start with and now the workers are 300% worse off!

The government’s insistence that workers must continue to work when they have no money for transport, in an empty stomach, etc. is just a nonsense.

So far, Zimbabwe has pretend that it still had a health service or be it one in which even the country’s main hospitals regularly run out of pain killers, bandages and even water and electricity. One can only imagine the sorry state of the smaller hospitals in the rural areas. Now this no nurses and doctors, it is fair to say our health care has all but completely collapsed!

Zanu PF has failed this nation and the regime must go; no if, no but!
