"Chinese deals will secure better lives for Zimbabweans," says ED - mean, secure Zanu PF rule N Garikai

“Let us remember where we were, and how we suffered as an isolated nation. In this new era Zimbabwe is open to the world, and governments, businesses and individuals all are looking to do business with us,” wrote President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

“We had many fruitful discussions with political and business leaders in China, including President Xi Jinping, and secured a host of deals which will make a real difference to the lives of Zimbabweans.”

Five points:

1)   What “isolation” are you talking about, Sir? Zimbabwe broke relations with the West but not with the East as your predecessor President Mugabe made very clear in his “Look East” policies. Zimbabwe has failed to get any financial assistance and foreign direct investment from the East because of the country’s failure to repay debts and reputation as a corrupt and lawless nation.

Many Zimbabweans are finding your denial of Zanu PF’s decades of misrule as the root cause of the country’s economic meltdown, blaming instead everything on these mythical sanctions, an insult to our intelligence.

2)   We all know that there have been no takers to your “Zimbabwe is open for business!” clarion call from anyone in the West because they have been disappointed to see that you have no intention of holding free, fair and credible elections. Investors do not do business in countries ruled by thugs, by failing to hold free and fair elections you are per se confirm Zimbabwe is still a de facto one-party state.

3)   China has remained Zimbabwe’s “all-weather friend” dating back to the days of the liberation war, as you readily acknowledged the other day. China has benefited greatly from the relationship as it has been able to flood Zimbabwe with cheap Chinese products and thus forced many of our own local producers out of business and has had a lion’s share of the wholesale looting that has been going on in Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe has suffered the economic meltdown which has seen unemployment soar to 90%, ¾ of our people now live on US$1.00 or less a day, etc.

Zimbabwe is now the poorest nation in Africa. China is the second richest nation on earth! So all-weather friend!

4)   Among the mega deals you signed with President Xi Jinping are deals to help Zanu PF rig the elections. It is no secret that China has always help prop up the Zanu PF dictatorship and provided all the material and moral support to rig elections. It is no secret that China is doing this again now for the same selfish reason of making sure Zimbabwe remains in China’s sphere of influence.

5)    Zimbabwe’s economic recovery is only assured by the country ending the criminal waste of resources born of the gross mismanagement and rampant corruptions and the return of law and order. The only sure way to achieve this is for the country to implement the democratic reforms and hold free, fair and credible elections.

By refusing to implement the democratic reforms designed to stop vote rigging you have per se condemned this nation to more years of Chinese exploitation and poverty. The next regime change in Zimbabwe will have to be another military coup or street protests, both will be bloody. This is something this nation is not going to tolerate.

With no reforms, these elections are not going to be free, fair and credible. We strongly object to the continued interference of the Chinese in Zimbabwe’s elections. These flawed elections must and will be declared null and void!

I will therefore continue to work tirelessly for the people of Zimbabwe both at home and abroad, as we embark on this new and exciting journey together,” concluded President Mnangagwa.

By refusing to implement the democratic reforms designed to restore the individual freedoms and human rights of all Zimbabweans including the right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country you are proving the Zanu PF dictatorship is alive and well.

The only thing “new” from Mugabe’s days is that the head of the dictatorship was replace by a new one. It is “an exciting journey” for the new dictator and his cronies but not the ordinary people who continue to suffer under the yoke of the corrupt, vote rigging and tyrannical dictatorship!

  1. History has the habit of repeating itself. President Mugabe first went to the West with his $27 billion ZimAsset begging bowl, the Chinese step in only when they knew Mugabe was getting nothing from the West. The Chinese offered Mugabe face unsigned cheques in return for their continued looting of Zimbabwe's resources.

ED tried to woo the West too but only fools would believe a gang of thugs who have just staged military coup would risk losing their new found power in free and fair elections. The Western investors are certainly not fools. The Chinese have once again stepped in to help. They are offering more unsigned cheques and plenty of cash to help Zanu PF rig the coming elections.

China is an "all weather friend" of the Zanu PF dictatorship in that the Chinese will stop at nothing to make sure Zimbabwe remains in its sphere of influence. China has benefitted greatly from an impoverished Zimbabwe ruled by thugs who are out picking a fight with the West even over calls for Zimbabwe to hold free and fair elections.

China is the public enemy number one of the oppressed and impoverished masses of Zimbabwe. The people must stand and demand political change and not allow China manipulate and interfere in the country's internal affairs. If we want to be masters of our own destiny we must now demonstrate we will not be bullied by outsiders especially those we know have a selfish agenda.

If fighting to end the corrupt, vote rigging and murderous Zanu PF dictatorship makes me an "imperialist mouth piece, a s**hole, etc." then I am all those things!

Let me tell you here and now, if Zanu PF does not implement the democratic reforms to ensure free, fair and credible elections then these elections are going to be declared null and void because any elections that deny the majority of the country's citizens a meaningful vote are per se illegitimate and therefore null and void!

Your masters in Chibuku Building promised free, fair and credible elections and now they are trying to rig the elections and are hoping to get away with it. I am here to make sure that they do not get away with it! Mark my words, they are NOT going to get away with it; not this time!

Well I pleased to note that you are beginning to appreciate the importance of the truth, facts and logic.

Zimbabwe is in this economic mess with 90% of our people out of work, 3/4 living on US$1.00 or less a day, etc. because for the last 38 years the nation was stuck with this corrupt, incompetent and murderous tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship that rigged elections to stay in power. That is a historic fact!

The Zanu PF dictatorship has not changed other than remove one dictator in a military coup but only to replace him with another. The Junta that has taken over is rigging the elections as before and hope it can get away with it. Let me tell you here and now that it is wishful thinking!

  4. @ Sarah Mahoka

Your love of ED and Zimbabwe did not stop Zimbabwe sinking into the economic mess it is in today and anyone who understands what has happened here is bound to froth at the mouth that a nation that has so much to offer should be dragged into such a mess by a few corrupt, vote rigging and murderous thugs! I am doing much more than "frothing at the mouth ", I am doing something to end this madness!

I can see that I am driving you, Sarah Mahoka, ED and all the other Zanu PF apologists and cronies nuts; you all know all your lies are losing credibility by the day. The Zanu PF dictatorship is falling apart and you are totally helpless to stop it happening!

I agree with you that ED has sold out to the Chinese and the Chinese are only interested in helping ED rig these elections. With not even one democratic reform in place, Zanu Pf has a thousand and one different ways of rigging the elections. By delaying the start of the voter registration exercise, for example, Zanu PF has effectively denied 1.7 million voters a vote; only 5.3 million out of 7 millions were registered. The delay will also mean there will be no verified voters' roll. This will open the door to countless vote rigging schemes!

In short, Zanu PF has won these elections before the first vote is cast. Your participation in these flawed elections will not change the result, it will help give the process credibility.

Chamisa and the rest of his MDC friends sold out on delivering free and fair elections during the GNU when they failed to implement even one reform to stop Zanu PF rigging elections. They have often demanded reform before elections but they do not mean anything, it is all just empty talk to please their gullible and naive followers. They will never ever boycott elections even if not even one reform is implemented, as long as there are a few gravy train seats on offer.

Zanu PF has learned that the party will get away with rigged elections as long as it gives away a few gravy train seats to the opposition as bait.

For the ordinary person, there is absolutely nothing to gained by taking part in an election process that is so flawed the result is predetermined. By participating, knowing before hand that the process is flawed, it means the people cannot complain afterward that the election was rigged because they knew that already!

So, when you say "vote Chamisa", one has to ask: with the view of winning the rigged elections? If you fail, to win can you confirm here and now that you will not complain that the elections were rigged?

  6. Just as well that China should roll out the red carpet to President Mnangagwa; China has benefited greatly from its relationship with Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe has got very little out of this relationship.

"There is nothing China has done to threaten Zimbabwe's sovereignty," said President Mnangagwa.

This is nonsense! China is one of the top foreign nations that have help rigged the Zimbabwe elections and imposed this Zanu PF dictatorship. China is going to help Zanu PF rig these coming elections and that is the one thing that this State visit will accomplish.

That is bad news for Zimbabwe because this country will never ever realise its full economic potential much less the people's individual freedoms and rights including the right to free and fair elections as long as Zanu PF continue to enjoy its dictatorial powers including rigging elections.
