"Struggle (for free elections) is in safe (Chamisa) hands" says Tajamuka - supposedly "Enlightened one!" N Garikai

“@nelsonchamisa comes straight from the Tsvangirai blast furnace of leadership.

There is absolutely no doubt about his capability, dedication, hard work & loyalty to the cause & the people of Zimbabwe.

The struggle is in safe & solid hands,” tweeted Promise Mkwananzi, Tajamuka leader.

If this “Tsvangirai blast furnace of leadership” was worth the spit then why did Tsvangirai fail to implement even one reforms in the 2008 to 2013 GNU when MDC had the golden opportunity to do so!

The trouble with people like Promise Mkwananzi is they have a binary mentality. They divide their world into good or bad and pigeon-hole leaders in the same way. And so Mugabe was bad and Tsvangirai was good and today Mnangagwa bad and Chamisa is good. Having pigeon-holed anyone as good he or she is raised onto a pedestal of a demigod who will do no wrong, the binary mentality cannot handle such a contradiction.

Yet, it is a historic fact that Morgan Tsvangirai and his fellow MDC leaders failed to implement even one democratic reform in five years of the GNU.

Mugabe bribed them with the trappings of high office; the rose tinted glass ministerial limos, very generous salaries and allowances, a US$4 million Highlands mansion for Tsvangirai, a opportunity to globe trot and be treated like kings wherever they go, etc., etc. And whilst the MDC leaders had their snouts in the feeding trough, they forgot about implementing the reforms.

“MDC leaders were busy enjoying themselves during the GNU, they forgot why they were there!” remark one SADC diplomat, in sheer exasperation. Zanu PF had just blatantly rigged the 2013 election, as the regional leaders had predicted.

SADC leaders had time and time again throughout the GNU reminded MDC leaders to follow the 2008 Global Political Agreement and implement the raft of democratic reforms but, for reasons noted above, were ignored. At the SADC summit in June 2013 the regional leaders literally begged Morgan Tsvangirai not to participate in the elections without first implementing the reforms but once again their pleas fell on deaf ears.

Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends participated in the 2013 elections knowing fully well Zanu PF was rigging the elections for the same reason they had ignored the important task of implementing the reforms during the GNU - greed. MDC leaders knew Zanu PF was giving away a few gravy train seats to entice the opposition to participate; they found the bait irresistible.

Zanu PF needed MDC to participate in the flawed and illegal elections to give the process credibility and, by extension, give the vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy. No wonder the SADC diplomat’s exasperation!

Morgan Tsvangirai and his fellow MDC leaders have proven beyond all reasonable doubt that they are corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent in failing to implement even one reform during the GNU and in giving legitimacy to the vote rigging Zanu PF.

Worse still, Chamisa and his MDC A friends are gearing to participate in the 2023 elections with no reforms in place and thus fully aware Zanu PF will rig the elections. They also know that by participating they are giving the vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy.

In short, Chamisa and company have not only betrayed the struggle to implement democratic reforms, the pre-requisite for free, fair and credible, and to add insult to injury have given legitimacy to the vote rigging Zanu PF. But worst of all, Chamisa and company are hell bend on dragging the nations into yet another flawed elections with the same outcome of giving the tyrannical and vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy.

“The struggle is in safe & solid hands!” This is more than an illusion, it is insanity!

“Tajamuka” is supposed to mean “street wise” or “mental enlightened” and yet that is the one thing Promise Mkwananzi and his lot are not! Decades of mental inactivity has resulted in their brain ossifying into a lump of fat impermeable to reason and logic.

"Mbare demolitions is call for people to converge" argue Chamisa - converge to think or to panic P Guramatunhu

"They don't even make an effort to create jobs and when people try to survive peacefully and patriotically, they go after them. It is cruel, heartless, irresponsible and incapable leadership. Central government is inflicting terror on the people while putting on the mask of the city council," Nelson Chamisa said.

He said the "brutality and barbarism" by the government was a call for people to converge.

MDC leaders had the golden opportunity to implement the democratic reforms during the 2008 to 2013 GNU and end the Zanu PF dictatorship. They failed to get even one reform implemented because Mugabe bribed them with the trapping of high office and, with their snout in the feeding trough, they forgot about reforms and the long suffering masses.

SADC leaders saw the sheer futility of going ahead with the 2013 elections when it was clear, with no reforms in place, Zanu PF would once again rig the elections. They tried to have the elections postponed until reforms are implemented.

“In 2013 the Maputo Summit, in June 2013, before the elections, the Maputo Summit was all about having the elections postponed – the SADC summit. I went there,” Dr Ibbo Mandaza, Director of SAPES, told the Journalist Violet Gonda.

“I was there at the Summit and Mugabe pretended to agree to a postponement of the elections. If you recall, the postponement was based on the need to reform at least electoral laws.

“And after that Summit, Morgan Tsvangirai, Tendai Biti, Welshman Ncube, all of them were called to a separate meeting by the Heads of State of SADC in the absence of Mugabe, that same evening. And they were told; I was sitting there outside the room with Mac Maharaj; they were told ‘if you go into elections next month, you are going to lose; the elections are done’.”

Morgan Tsvangirai and company paid no heed because they had their eyes on the few gravy train seats Mugabe was offering to those who would participate in the flawed elections. Mugabe knew the MDC leaders would find the bait irresistible, just as they had found the high office bribes irresistible.

By participating in the flawed elections in defiance of SADC leaders’ advice, MDC leaders were giving the vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy.

What is so infuriating about MDC leaders is their hypocrisy because they have known all along about their selling-out on failing to implement reforms and, worst of all, that they continued participation in flawed and illegal elections was giving the flawed “process credibility” as David Coltart readily admitted in his book.

“The worst aspect for me about the failure to agree a coalition was that both MDCs couldn’t now do the obvious – withdraw from the (2013) elections,” wrote Coltart.

“The electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility.”

By participating in the flawed elections MDC gave the process credibility and, by extension, gave the vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy in 2013 and 2018. With not even a token reform implemented since 2013, it is clear the 2023 elections will be history repeating itself.

The economic, political and social situation in Zimbabwe is desperate and both Zanu PF and MDC leaders’ corrupt and breath taking incompetence have landed the nation in this mess. Desperate people do desperate things and participating in the flawed elections is not only an act of desperation but, after 43 years of rigged elections, it is insane. The rational and obvious solution out of this mess is demand free, fair and credible elections.

SADC leaders were right in calling for the 2013 elections to be postponed until reforms are in place. It is for the ordinary Zimbabweans to now demand that 2023 elections must not go ahead until reforms to ensure free, fair and credible elections are in place.

With no reforms in place, “the 2023 elections are done”; Chamisa knows that! The only reason he still wants Zimbabweans to participate in these elections is so his MDC A can win the few gravy train Zanu PF gives away as bait and thus claim the bragging rights as Zimbabwe’s main opposition leader.

"We can get angry and condemn this, but the issue is it is now time for people's convergence to end all this. It is no longer about political parties when our humanity and dignity is under attack. There is no better time to converge than now. People can't wait for any other signal. The oppressors are giving us a signal. This is a call for citizens to converge and a new consensus to save ourselves. You cannot finish poverty by finishing the poor,” argued Nelson Chamisa.

The number one priority for the people of Zimbabwe is to make sure the next elections are free, fair and credible; this is the nation’s guarantee to ending the curse of rigged elections and bad governance. It will be unforgivable for the nation to forfeit yet another chance to end the Zanu PF dictatorship by  participating in another flawed elections for the purpose of settling Chamisa vs Mwonzora goat fight. “Kutungana kwembudzi!”

"Unfair to frog-march voters and must be stopped" - it's norm, no one has the will to stop it N Garikai

“The four-wheel gifts are meant to buy the chiefs' allegiance. This must stop,” wrote Chief Chiduku in Bulawayo 24.

“The fairness of the forthcoming elections is already in doubt, especially in rural areas where chiefs will compete to please Zanu-PF as a thank you for the things they are being given and promised.

“The economic situation remains gloomy, but the government is spending millions of dollars to please traditional leaders. This brings to the fore the question of this government's priorities and commitment to free, fair and credible polls.”

Of course, it is wrong to use chiefs and other traditional leaders as Zanu PF political commissars and an outrage that the rural voters have been turned into medieval serfs beholden to the chiefs and other zanu PF operative. Yes it should be stopped forthwith. It is an outrage that this has happened countless times it is now considered the norm!

But who is there to stop it?

Zimbabwe is not the fairytale Second Republic in which the evil dictator Robert Mugabe was booted out following the November 2017 military coup and everyone lived happily ever after, Mnangagwa would want us all to believe it is. Nor is it a healthy and functioning democracy the opposition pretend it is.

Nelson Chamisa, the leader of the main opposition party MDC A, admitted last week that the chiefs will once again “frog-march” the rural voters to vote for Zanu PF. He said it with the callous indifference of one who does not care that the millions of the rural voters are once again being denied the fundamental right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country.

Ever since Chamisa and his MDC friends failed to deliver even one democratic reform during the 2008 to 2013 GNU, they have all but given up the fight for reforms and free and fair elections. Chamisa and company are happy to participate in these flawed and illegal elections and give the vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy in return for the few gravy train seats Zanu PF has been giving away as bait.

As for Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF cronies; why they stop using chief and the other traditional leaders as political commissars or any of the other vote rigging activities when doing so would risk him and the party losing power. And why take the risk when the country’s economic is in such a mess that Zimbabweans would certainly vote him and the party out of office. More so, when they knew MDC A and the rest in the opposition will participate regardless who flawed and illegal the process happened to be!

If Zimbabwe was a healthy democracy in the true sense and spirit USA President Abraham Lincoln’s “government of the people by the people and for the people”; then the people themselves would be the ones up in arms demanding reforms, free and fair elections and an end to all these vote rigging shenanigans.

Sadly, the Zimbabwe electorate have never ever been knowledgable enough on any subject to held the country’s leaders to account. Even on a common subject such as democratic reforms to ensure free, fair and credible elections, many Zimbabweans out there have no clue what constitutes free and fair elections, for example.

The people of Zimbabwe have risked life and limb to elect MDC leaders into power on the understanding, once in power, the party will implement the democratic changes to end the vote rigging shenanigans such as holding the rural voters captive serfs. After 21 years on the political stage, 5 of which in the 2008 to 2013 GNU, MDC has failed to implement even one democratic reform.

The real surprise is many Zimbabweans have no idea the GNU’s primary purpose was to implement the reforms and much less that MDC leaders sold-out big time by failing to get any reforms implemented. The people have not only failed to see MDC leaders for the corrupt, incompetent and sell-outs they are but continue to follow the party with the same blind loyalty - proof they are not yet ready for democracy and good governance.

The very fact that millions of Zimbabweans in the rural areas are going to be corralled like cattle and frog-marched to vote for Zanu PF has not outraged many Zimbabweans out there; it is water off a duck’s back. Many Zimbabweans are gearing to participate in the 2023 elections because MDC A conned them into believing the party has stringent measures to win rigged elections.

Of course, it is insane that anyone would still believe in winning rigged elections after 41 years of rigged elections. By participating the people too will give the vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy and thus help extend Zanu PF’s tyrannical rule.

“Frog-marching voters to vote for Zanu PF is unfair and must be stopped!” Stopped by who? Not Zanu PF! Not MDC A! Not ever the people themselves can stop it! No one has the political will and/or vision to stop it.

"Thank God, we're up to the task!" boasted Chamisa - yet not even one reform delivered in 21 years N Garikai

The Greeks of the Golden Age of Greece gave humanity the Olympic Games, built the Acropolis, laid the foundation of human civilisation and, most important of all, gave mankind democracy - government of the people by the people and for the people.

There are many reasons why democracy has all but failed to take root in Zimbabwe and one of the reasons is are a pig-head society and there is nothing like being elevated into a position of power and authority to bring out the pig in pig-headed!.

“According to President Chamisa, leadership is a huge responsibility that requires humility and focus,” reported Zimeye and went on to quote Chamisa.

“THE POWER OF BUILDING NEW THINGS..SOMETHING FRESH!!

Every time I meet Zimbabweans I’m amazed at the love I see written all over their faces, the palpable joy and hope in their eyes.

Leadership is a huge responsibility.

Trust is a great burden. The hope, enthusiasm and expectation is a call to duty. Thank God, we’re equal to the task!”

Shocking!

The people of Zimbabwe have risked life and limb to elect Chamisa and his fellow MDC friends into power on the understanding the MDC, as the party name implied, would deliver the democratic changes the nation has been dying for, literally. After 21 years on the political stage, 5 of which in the GNU, MDC has failed to deliver not even one democratic change. Not one!

It is therefore shocking that Chamisa should have arrogance and chic to  boast of his competence and accomplishments. "Thank God, we're equal to the task!"

He even claims to have the gifts of "humility and focus!"

To be fair to Chamisa and his MDC friends they are not the only ones who are pig-headed. After 41 years of gross mismanagement and rampant corruption that has left the country in economic ruins, Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF cronies still believe they are the only ones are competent to rule Zimbabwe and hence the reason they have rigged elections, just to be absolutely certain a free, fair and credible election did not deliver regime change.

Chamisa and his MDC friends and Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF thugs have one thing in common; they are pig-headed demagogues who believe they are God Almighty’s gift to the nation. Compared to everyone else, they are infallible, “equal to the task”; no task is too hard for them. They are the “Misstra know it all!” Stevie Wonder sang of.

Pig-headed demagogues can never ever be democrats because the lack the humility to acknowledge they are fallible mortals and there is absolutely nothing special about them.

The very idea of giving the ordinary citizen a meaningful say in the governance of the country, in a free, fair and credible elections is simply unthinkable to the demagogue. Democracy, government of the people by the people for the people, is a curse as far as the demagogues are concerned because the people will elect someone not “equal to the task”!

Make no mistake about it, no one has ever said democracy is perfect. Free, fair and credible elections have resulted in the election of people not equal to the task. The election of former US President Donald Trump is one. The real beauty of a healthy and functioning democracy is that the American voters were able to put things right four years later.

Where there is no healthy and functioning democracy, such as Zimbabwe, you get a demagogue into power and you are well and truly stuck!

We in Zimbabwe are well and truly stuck with not only the Zanu PF buffoons but now the MDC village idiots to boot! Both Zanu PF and MDC have failed to deliver democracy and free, fair and credible elections because they are demagogues and not democrats.

"People are Zanu PF's last worries, frog-matched voters" said Chamisa - and he gave Zanu PF legitimacy P Guramatunhu

“Brand New Isuzu vehicles were recently given to the Chiefs and Mbuya Nehanda gobbled a whopping R2.8 million in cash at a time when our health infrastructure is in rotten state.

“They never think about anything other than power retention.

“Cars to chiefs because chiefs will be used to frog-march voters to vote for them.

“The people and the country are Zanu pf’s last worries,” President Chamisa wrote on his official Facebook page.

It is true that the twin-cab Isuzu trucks for each of the country’s 270 chiefs @ US$ 30 000 for a total of US$ 8.1 million at a time Zimbabwe is failing to buy enough corona virus vaccine are a bribe to the chiefs. Chamisa is spot on, the chiefs are being paid for their part in “frog-marching voters to vote for Zanu PF”!

It is no secret that voters in the rural areas, constituting about 50% of the voters, in particular have been reduced to nothing short of medieval serfs beholden to the overbearing chiefs, village heads, war veterans, green bombers and all the other Zanu PF operatives.

In 2008 SADC leaders forced Mugabe and his Zanu PF cronies to agree to the implementation of a raft of democratic reforms whose primary purpose was end Zanu PF’s carte blanche dictatorial control of state institutions including traditional leaders to free them to carryout their democratic duties of safe guarding the freedoms and rights of all the citizens without favour or fear.

The reforms, properly implemented, would have ended Zanu PF’s practice of bribing the Chiefs and freed the rural voters to vote freely, for example.

The task to implement the democratic reforms were left to Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends in the 2008 to 2013 GNU. Nelson Chamisa, Tendai Biti and most of the other leaders in the MDC A and MDC-T were senior MDC leaders in the GNU.

Sadly, MDC leaders failed to implement even one token reform in the five years of the GNU. Not even one reform!

SADC leaders made a last minute determined attempt to have Zimbabwe’s July 2013 elections postponed until the reforms were implemented. “If you go into elections next month, you are going to lose. The elections are done!” Tsvangiai and company were warned.

Tsvangirai et al did not listen for the same reason they had failed to implement even one reform during the GNU - greed. MDC leaders knew Zanu PF was rigging the elections but they also knew Zanu PF was giving away a few gravy train seats to entice the opposition to participate.

Ever since the 2008 GNU debacle MDC leaders have participated in Zimbabwe’s flawed and illegal elections for the sake of the bait gravy train seat and knowing that doing so gave the vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy!

There is very little the ordinary Zimbabweans can do to stop the 2023 elections going ahead, both Zanu PF and MDC are set to play their assigned roles, one blatantly rigging the elections and the other participating regardless how flawed the process gets.

However the one thing ordinary Zimbabweans can and must do is to denounce these elections as a farce and make sure they play no part in the whole fraudulent affair.

SADC leaders were right to condemn the 2013 elections as a farce in advance because the elections were rigged in advance. Zanu PF has already rigged the 2023 elections in advance. How can an election in which 50% of the voters are frog matched to vote for a predetermined candidate and party be anything but a rigged election!

“The people and the country are Zanu pf’s last worries!” And you have aided and abetted Zanu PF by giving the regime that “frog - matches voters” legitimacy!

The people must not only refuse to participate in these 2023 elections without first implementing the reforms but demand that elections must be declared here and now, in advance because they have already been rigged in advance, null and void.

By freely participating in 2023 Zimbabweans will give vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy; it is insane W Mukori

It will be insane for Zimbabweans, across the political divide, to freely participating in the 2023 elections by attending political rallies, registering and voting (or trying to, for the Zanu PF regime is renowned for denying these freedoms and rights to many), directly or indirectly by encouraging others to do so.

What makes the participation in these elections insane is that everyone knows or should know that Zanu PF rigged the July 2018 elections and the whole string of other elections in the past and since not even one token reform was implemented since the 2018 rigged elections it is as clear as day Zanu PF will rig the 2023 elections. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result.

We all have a notion of madness; mine is the eye-witness account of an Ingutsheni Hospital patient “trying” to water a flower bed 30m or so from the water tap with a leaking bucket. The emphasis is on TRYING because the leaking was so bad there was hardly any water left at the end of each trip. Ingutsheni is a mental hospital in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.

Anyone who is a full shilling would have abandoned the watering after one or two trial runs. One could not help but feel sorry for the patient labouring for hours but accomplishing nothing. It is most disconcerting when it is not just one or two but the overwhelming majority of people who are mentally challenged.

We can be poles apart on many things but there is no Zimbabwean out there who will deny that Zimbabwe is in a political and economic mess. Mnangagwa and his apologists will be quick off the mark to point to the “illegal sanctions imposed by the West, etc.” as the root causes of the country’s spectacular economic meltdown. They will talk all day and night, if we let them, of how the country is recovering and is set to be an upper middle income nation by 2030; although all the evidence point to the nation sinking deeper and deeper into the abyss. Still, not even Mnangagwa and his cronies will dare deny Zimbabwe is indeed in a political and economic mess.

Other Zimbabweans would argue the root cause of the country’s economic and political mess are 41 years of gross mismanagement, rampant corruption and rank lawlessness that have turned the country into Banana Republic, a pariah state, ruled by corrupt and tyrannical thugs. The nation has been stuck with the Zanu PF dictatorship for 41 years and counting because the party rigged the elections.

So, we, every Zimbabwean with half a working brain, agrees that the Zimbabwe, up to her eyes stuck in the economic and political mess (put aside for the time being what cause the mess much less what to do about it) is NOT the Zimbabwe we wanted. National elections are the golden chance for the people to have a meaningful say in the governance of the country, a meaningful say in the Zimbabwe they want, but only if the people have a meaningful say, a meaningful vote.

Ever since the country’s independence in 1980 Zimbabwe has never held a free, fair and credible elections. Never ever!

We have participated in elections we knew were flawed and illegal hoping against hope that the process will deliver a competent government that will drag us out of the economic and political mess we were stuck in. This is the equivalent of watering the flower bed with a leaking bucket.

By freely participating in these flawed and illegal elections Zimbabweans have given the flawed process credibility and given the vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy. We have been participating in these flawed elections for the last 41 years and counting the equivalent of the Ingutsheni patient watering the flower bed in the middle of a thunderstorm! If this is not proof of our collective insanity, then what is!

There is very little ordinary Zimbabweans can do to stop Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF cronies going ahead with the 2023 elections particularly since the regime is cocksure Nelson Chamisa and the rest in the opposition camp will participate. Zanu PF is offering the opposition a few gravy train seats to entice them to participate no matter how flawed and illegal the process get; that has worked in the past and is certainly working again.

However, what ordinary Zimbabweans can do is stop Zanu PF from getting away with yet another rigged election by pointedly refusing to participating in the flawed and illegal elections. The key to stopping ordinary Zimbabweans participating in flawed and illegal elections is educating them.

The day the Ingutsheni patient understood why a leaking bucket is not the right tool; he/she is cured! After 41 years of participating in flawed elections there is a cure to Zimbabweans’ collective insanity – will explore that next.

Mtetwa wants overzealous Police held "personally liable" - good but not for sea change we after N Garikai

Two MDC activists, Tungamirai Madzokere and Last Maengahama, have just been freed after spending eight years in prison on a murder charge of a Police Officer. The two were not saving a jail sentence because they were never convicted of the crime, at least not of the murder.

In Zimbabwe, being a political activist opposed to the Zanu PF regime is a serious crime for which many have been charged and punished and even summarily executed! This case was one such case.

“They beat him up to such an extent that they fractured a bone on his arm,” argued Beatrice Mtetwa, a human rights lawyer. When the Police arrest Madzokere they assaulted him and broke his wrist – assault a common occurrence.

“The court ordered that there be an investigation on that, but we all know that nothing came out of those investigations. We know that not even a single sentence was written by the trial judge to deal with that.

“The time that these political activists spent in custody is a time that was unnecessary.

“The trial judge refused them bail on the basis that they had a strong case as the state had eye-witnesses, but during trial, the eyewitnesses disappeared and the Inspector who had been claiming that they had eye-witnesses started talking about informers who had no names, no identities and were never called.

“So, it’s obvious that there never were any eye-witnesses in the first instance.”

She had her crosswire on the individual Police Officer whom she wanted to be sued in their own individual capacity.

“Why should he (Police Officer) not be personally liable for lying in court for whatever personal reasons if he was put up to it, let him then go and claim those damages from those other people…”

Eight years in jail for a crime you never committed!

The real reason the two MDC activists were locked up is because they had dared to exercise their right to think freely and to demand a meaningful say in the governance of the country. As far as Zanu PF is concerned anyone who does that is a Ventriloquist Dummy vocalising the regime change agenda of their foreign masters. They are guilty of high treason and of all trumped up charges brought up against them to facilitate the arrest and punishment!

Political activists and critics of the Zanu PF regime are criminals, period. The Zanu PF ruling elite are the highest court in the land and their judgement is final; there is no appeal!

Former Police Commissioner, Augustine Chihuru’s PhD thesis was on the challenges of policing in a country awash with regime change criminals. His orders to his men and women were clear, they must harass, beat and even kill these regime change puppets at every turn.

Suing the individual Police Officer for what we all acknowledge is institutionalised rot in the Police, judiciary and in every facet of Zimbabwe society is better than doing nothing, I would readily admit that. Will it change anything? Not really, particularly when the captured judiciary will kick most of such lawsuits into the prickly pear thicket to rot.

Suing the individual Police Officer will make as much difference as a child emptying the sea into the pit scooped in the sand! The solution to Zanu PF misrule is simple but not that simple!

There have been many, many golden opportunities to end the Zanu PF dictatorship and we, the people of Zimbabwe, have wasted them. One such golden opportunity was during the 2008 to 2013 GNU when MDC leaders had the opportunity to implement the democratic reforms that would have freed the Police to do their work without fear or favour. Of course, MDC leaders sold-out but where was civic society in all this? Why did we all say nothing?

I think suing the individual MDC leaders for selling out during GNU on the court of public opinion would go a long way to end the Zanu PF dictatorship. For one thing, it will shed the light on what the GNU was about and, most important of all, why Zimbabweans must stop following these corrupt, incompetent and sell-out MDC leaders blindly like sheep to the slaughter!

Right now, the country is being stampeded into yet another utterly pointless 2023 elections. It is a well-documented fact that Zanu PF rigged the 2018 elections and that by participating Zimbabweans gave the vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy. Nothing, absolutely nothing, has been done to stop Zanu PF rigging the coming elections. And the corrupt, incompetent and sell-out opposition opportunists are the ones leading the stampede on the false promise they will win the rigged elections!

One feels sorry for the ordinary people who are helpless to put an end to this madness of rigged elections. The rural voters especially have been reduced into nothing short of medieval serfs beholden to the overbearing Zanu PF thugs, they will be corralled to attend party rallies, to vote and thus once again give legitimacy to the vote rigging Zanu PF.

Zanu PF has already rigged the 2023 elections. The party has, once again, denied the 3 million or so Zimbabweans in the diaspora the vote for example. 5 million voted in the July 2018 elections. How can an election in which 3 out of 8 are summarily denied the vote be anything but a farce! Why are we, as a society, tolerating such nonsense?

The root cause of Zimbabwe’s economic meltdown and political paralysis; we are stuck with a corrupt, incompetent and murderous ruling party and an equally corrupt, incompetent and utterly useless opposition as the alternative; is decades of bad governance. Bad governance is, per se, a man-made problem and therefore within our power as the citizens to solve. So far Zimbabweans have been as helpless as child in stopping the rot in our country. All they need is to be educated on what their rights are and how to hold those in positions of power and authority to account.

Suing the individual Police Officer for zealous lawlessness will not empty the sea of Zanu PF injustice. Sue the regime for denying 3 million Zimbabweans the vote, for failing to produce a verified voters’ roll, etc., etc. and you will end the curse of rigged elections and deliver a sea change of freedom, justice and hope in Zimbabwe!
