A nation that thinks and fights as if it were the past will just continue to live in the past as the world moves into the future,” said Professor Chan.

Of course Professor Chan is right, Mugabe, Mnangagwa, Grace Mugabe, Joice Mujuru, Morgan Tsvangirai and none of all the other leaders aspiring to be president have a plan to get the nation out of the mess. They all want to be president more for the gravy train lifestyle the post promises, they have not thought about what they will need to do to get the nation out of the political and economic mess it is in – many of them are incapable of such novelty as thinking.
Indeed Professor Chan talks of the past as if President Mugabe had a plan then; he did not and does not have a plan even now. He has proven beyond doubt he too is incapable of the novelty of thinking! If he had the ability to think then he would have realized a long time ago that the path he had chosen for the nation was doomed to fail and end in tears for the whole nation; he would have changed course immediately. The country is in economic turmoil, his party is imploding and he is going to be exposed for the incompetent, corrupt and murderous tyrant he is; only a fool would choose such a course and he did!
Nations like SA with their Freedom Charter who have thought through carefully what exactly they were seeking in their fight for independence have done well after they attained their independence. The Freedom Charter is characterized by its key demand;
“The People Shall Govern!
Every man and woman shall have the right to vote for and to stand as a candidate for all bodies which make laws;”
SA has held many elections since its first multi-racial elections in 1994 and, whilst many things has been said about the economy, etc. no one has ever complained that the elections were rigged. Sadly the same cannot be said about Zimbabwe’s elections.
It is no secret that Zanu PF threatened to restart the civil if the party lost the 1980 elections. If anyone doubted President Mugabe resolve on this they only have to look at what happened during the Gukurahundi massacres to know what’s what! As Zanu PF’s popularity has dropped the party has resorted to dirtier and violent tactics to retain political power.
It is a great shame that so many Zimbabweans have been murdered for selfish political, a great shame so many freedom fighters are now no better than Ian Smith’s dispised dzakutsaku and it is an unforgivable shame that the people of Zimbabwe continue to be denied their right to govern Zimbabwe!
Patrickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03002527980821483437noreply@blogger.com
