"ED wetting himself after demo," say Muchaiwa - nonsense, MDC will cross "red lines" on 14 June P Guramatunhu

“After the peaceful electoral reforms demonstrations in Harare on Tuesday the 5th of June 2018 and a statement on Mnangagwa’s “no action” position by the American Senator Chris Coons, I bet Mnangagwa is wetting himself from fear. MDC T’s demonstration was a statement of intent and certainly it is a new game with new rules altogether,” wrote Fred Muchaiwa, in Zimeye.

Yes, the clear and unambiguous statement from Senator Coons reminding President Mnangagwa that it is not enough to promise free, fair and credible elections but doing nothing to make that happen has forced ED and his junta to sit up and listen. On the other hand, the MDC demo was just a waste of time, not even the green-horns in Zanu PF took any notice of it. Everyone knows that MDC leaders are bluffing; they will take part in these elections even if not even one of their “red line” demands are met!

Indeed, ED has taken full advantage of MDC’s grandstanding and posturing and is giving it as proof these election are free, fair and credible! MDC leaders’ insistence in taking part in these flawed elections even in the face of blatant vote rigging by Zanu PF is giving the process the modicum of credibility as former MDC Senator David Coltart has admitted.

“The worst aspect for me about the failure to agree a coalition was that both MDCs couldn’t now do the obvious – withdraw from the elections,” explained Senator Coltart.

“The electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility.”

MDC leaders were told in no uncertain terms by SADC leaders that they should not participate in the elections without first implementing the reforms designed to stop Zanu PF rigging the vote. “If you take part in next month’s elections, you will lose; the elections are done!” SADC leaders told the corrupt and incompetent Morgan Tsvangirai and his fellow MDC village idiots straight to their faces.

As we know the MDC village idiots did not listen to SADC leaders’ advice and participated in the July 2013 elections. Zanu PF blatantly rigged the elections, as SADC leaders had predicted. Our village idiots are contesting this year’s elections although not even one reform has been implemented. They have been giving all manner of excuses why they are once again contesting these elections knowing Zanu PF will rig the vote.

“MDC-T has devised strategies of how to Win In Rigged Elections (WIRE)!” Obert Gutu MDC-T party spokesman announce a year ago.

It was a lead balloon that never took off; no one believed any of that nonsense especially when the party failed to name even one such strategy. The party went in search for another excuse.

“MDC Alliance has stringent measures to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections!” announce the Alliance’s new cocky leader, Nelson Chamisa. No doubt yesterday’s demo counts as one such measure.

“No reform, no elections: new game new rules!” Fred Muchaiwa had titled his article. Wishful thinking!

The demo produced yet another list of MDC demands, “red lines” which MDC will not cross until their demands are met. Everyone knows the routine; MDC makes demands in the morning and by sunset they have forgotten the demands. The nomination Courts are sitting on 14 June and MDC candidates will be submitting their nominations even though not even one of the demo demands was met. MDC leaders have already forgotten their own red lines!

Zanu PF is rigging this year’s election just as readily as the party rigged the 2013 elections. These “elections are done”; as SADC leaders would aptly put it. These elections should not be taking place, not until we have implemented the democratic reforms designed to stop Zanu PF blatantly rigging the vote!

It is bad enough that MDC leaders are dragging the nation into these flawed elections, giving the process the modicum of credibility, to feed their selfish greed. They are after the few gravy train seats Zanu PF is giving away as bait, as Senator Coltart admitted. It is unforgivable that anyone would be so naïve as to believe the MDC Tuesday demonstration gimmick would force Zanu PF to implement all the democratic reforms and the nation will have free, fair and credible elections!

Zimbabwe is in this economic and political hell-hole because for the last 38 years the nation has been stuck with a corrupt and tyrannical regime that has rigged elections to stay in power. The nation’s only hope of ever getting out of this hell-hole is by implementing the democratic reforms and stop wasting time, effort and money on all these MDC gimmicks!

“MDC T’s demonstration was a statement of intent and certainly it is a new game with new rules altogether!” Even now, with all the mountain of evidence that MDC is grandstanding and posturing are no more effective than a chihuahua barking at the herd of elephants; some people still want to believe MDC gimmicks will stop Zanu PF rigging the elections.

“Hupenzi inyama yegakava!” (There is no one more stubbornly idiotic than a certified village idiot!)

Come 31 July the country will wake up to another Zanu PF landslide victory, even the certified village idiots will have to accept that political reality.

  1. This is just nonsense, why should ED wet himself when everyone knows that MDC will ignore all the "red line" reforms they demanded.

These elections should not be going ahead without first implementing the reforms and only a certified village idiot woud think the demo will finally force Zanu PF to implement all the reforms so the country will have free, fair and credible elections! Sadly there are many such certified village idiots!

“ED is a world class leader who can peacefully co-exist with the opposition----which is good for investor confidence,” you say. “ED has the political will and ability to achieve peaceful, fair and credible elections----which is good for his defence in the courts when the opposition loses and tries to cry foul!”
Nonsense! Just because these MDC idiots have no clue what constitute free and fair elections does not mean everyone else out there is equally clueless, especially the American and foreign investors. The Americans can see ED is saying one thing and doing the opposite and hence the reason Senator Coons has just told him in no uncertain terms stop playing these sill games. ED is rigging these elections and that is the truth!

These elections should not be taking place, not without implementing the reforms first. Only certified village idiots would ever believe that MDC's demo will force Zanu PF to implement ALL the reforms so these elections are free and fair! This is nothing more than Chinua Achebe’s the boastful dog claiming to put out a furnace fire with its “puny fart!”
ED and his junta are rigging these elections and the real challenge is to make sure they do NOT getting away with it; forget the MDC demo, the puny dog fart!

“Its a pity you cant see that ED got another medal yesterday. It was an own goal by Mdc. They proved that ED really means it when he talks freedom of expression. Mdc ipwere pamutambo uyu,” you said.
True MDC are village idiots, they have proven this beyond all reasonable doubt 100 000 times and 100 000 times again in the last month alone. It that a good enough excuse for Zanu PF to refuse to implement the democratic reforms and restore the people's basic freedoms and human rights including the right to free, fair and credible elections? The answer is a big NO!

These elections will be judged free, fair and credible on the basic of Zanu PF delivering on these basic requirements for free, fair and credible elections and not on the basis of what MDC was prepared to accept and go along with. Just because MDC are foolish enough to take part in these elections without first implementing the reforms does not mean the reforms are not necessary much less that the rest of us must accept this foolishness as fait accompli!

These elections are a waste of effort, time and money; they should not be taking place, not without first implementing the reforms. The only logical outcome now is that the elections must be declared null and void!

  4. The survey assumed the elections are free, fair and credible which they are not! After 38 years of rigged elections one would at least expect even the more naive and foolish organisation to acknowledge this fundamental reality in Zimbabwe politics!

We already know that the opposition could win free and fair elections, in March 2008 Tsvangirai got 73% but Mnangagwa and other Zanu PF thugs forced ZEC to recount and after six weeks this was whittled down to 47%. This survey is choosing to ignore Zanu PF's carte blanche powers to rig elections, we know Zanu PF has these powers and is using them.

According to Report Focus Mnangagwa will garner a paltry 19% of the total votes while his youthful rival Nelson Chamisa of the MDC Alliance will get 81%.

The only logical reason Report Focus would ignore Zanu PF's carte blanche powers to rig the vote is that they are commissioned by none other than Zanu PF itself to come up with this utterly meaningless report just to mislead the nation. Zanu PF does not want the people to even think about the political reality of another rigged elections and what better way of achieving that than making them believe the elections are free, fair and credible!

Zanu PF has always spent millions of dollars during elections to spruce-up the party's image and to promote the idea that the elections are free and fair and the opposition are winning! No doubt will be seeing more of these surveys all predicting an opposition landslide victory but all cleverly avoiding to acknowledge that Zanu PF is rigging the elections!

“At every stage of political challenges in Zanu PF, they are called to defend the rich and their stakes. When the political storm settles, they are thrown into the trash can,” you said.
“Deny it or be angry about it, this is the life of the group Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans’ Association chairperson Christopher Mutsvangwa leads. They rise to recognition as they want to be used and fall heavily to zeros.”
You are 100% correct in your analysis. What these rogue war veterans have failed to accept is that by defending the corrupt and oppressive Zanu PF dictatorship they were helping to impose on the nation a political system that was wasteful of the nation’s human and material resources. The system was doomed to fail and fail it did.
After 38 years of Zanu PF misrule unemployment has soared to 90%, ¾ of the people are living on US$1.00 or less a day, basic services like health and education have all but collapsed, etc. It is not surprising that many of the war veterans and even Zanu PF grandees like the late Nathan Shamuyarira and Enos Nkala have been caught in the rising tide of economic poverty.
After years of trading water, many of the rogue war veterans have regrouped and thrown their weight behind President Mnangagwa and his junta in the vain hope that the regime will save them from the ever rising tide of poverty. The regime is not going to revive the economy by reviving the party’s corrupt and wasteful political patronage system. President Mnangagwa has already promised the war veterans to review their pension and allowances and they, in return, are out in full force reminding the people they will be punished if they do not vote for Zanu PF.
By failing to hold free and fair elections the party has just confirms Zimbabwe is still a pariah state ruled by thugs. Zimbabwe’s economic recovery is wholly dependent casting away its pariah state status because no investors want to do business with thugs! The war veterans have learnt nothing from the country’s political blunders of the last 38 years and hence the reason they are hanging on to the same failed political system or be it with a new dictator. That is the tragedy of an oppressive and tyrannical dictatorship, the people are so brainwashed they are never given a chance to learn what went wrong and so a easily fooled into repeating the same mistakes over and over again.

  6. You should not be judging the conduct of these elections using what Mugabe was doing as the baseline but rather what is internationally accepted as basic requirements for free, fair and credible elections. There is no free public media; forget this nonsense of giving the opposition a few minutes coverage on ZBC from now on till 30 July. What is two months out of 38 years of one-sided brainwashing and propaganda?
ZEC has failed to produce verified voters' roll throwing the door wide open for NIKUV inspired vote rigging schemes!
Zanu PF is robbing the nation blind and using the loot to bankroll its various vote rigging schemes and shenanigans. Zanu PF candidates, party leaders, Chiefs, etc. have all got brand new vehicle in a country failing to but pain killers for its major hospitals much less working ambulances! And so the list of election irregularities goes on and on!
These elections are not free, fair and credible and must be condemned as such. We should not be having any elections without first implementing the democratic reforms; to say otherwise only goes to show one has no clue what constitutes free, fair and credible elections!

  7. The MDC members and supporters who have been praising MDC's demo are showing just how shallow thick and slow they are. Ask them whether they really expect even one of the reforms the people were demanding to be implemented this late into the election and not even one of them will say yes, not with any conviction. Ask anyone of them if they believe MDC leaders will boycott the elections if any of these red line demands are not met. Again, none of them will dare say yes because they all know MDC leaders will not boycott the election regardless how flawed the process.

So what was the purpose of the demo other than give the leaders another chance to drum their chest like a big silver back gorilla.

The truth is the country cannot afford to have yet another rigged election. We should not be holding these elections, not before we have implemented all the democratic reforms to ensure the elections are free, fair and credible.

We know Zanu PF is rigging these elections and we want this flagged up here and now and not have to complain about it after the voting is done. We want these elections declared null and void because it is impossible to have free and fair elections without implementing the reforms.
